[jboss-user] [JBoss Portal] - The issue of controlling the portlet display

2009-03-30 Thread bensonfungjava
Hi,

I would like to understand if there is any approach which can control the
display of a certain portlet programmatically.

e.g. If the second of the login timestamp is odd number, a portlet won't
appear on the portal page.

Can anyone let me know how I can control this mechanism programmatically?

Thanks

Hi Vivek,

There is no such file at portal-core-sar/conf/data folder. But there is such
file at jboss-portal.sar/conf/data folder.

Anyway, I tried to modify the file according to your suggestion. It doesn't
work unfortunately. I think the reason is I unchecked the view permission of
the admin portlet for admin role.

Please help.

Why don't you change the Packaging mechanism? The original Packaging mechanism
is excellent and we(we are the partner of RedHat) promoted to our client, the
client also appreciate this Packaging mechanism.

Right now, the packaging mechanism is totally changed without any documentation
and not user friendly anymore. I afraid the client won't approach JBOSS
anymore.

I think JBOSS have to think about the workaround how to make the Packaging
mechanism more user friendly.

2007-08-24 Thread bensonfungjava
It works fine finally. The most important thing is that both myfaces jar files
have to be put into JBOSS lib directory instead of the war file. Otherwise,
the StartupContextPhaseListener will pick up the ApplicationFactory class
instead of SeamApplicationFactory and it leads to fail to instantiate user Seam
component. This is most important. Unfortunately, the JBOSS Seam document did
not mention this point. I am very sorry for this missing.

[jboss-user] [JBoss Seam] - JBOSS Seam example application, registration, doesn't work

2007-08-23 Thread bensonfungjava
Hi,

I followed the example application, registration in JBOSS Seam. Unfortunately,
it doesn't work.

Environment :

JBOSS Seam : 1.2.1 GA
MyFaces 1.1.4
JBOSS AS : 4.0.5 GA

the URL : http://localhost:8080/seam-registration/register.seam can be
accessed. After entering the 3 parameters and hit register button, 3 error
message was displayed as follows :

* Conversion Error _idJsp2: Error during model data update.
* Conversion Error _idJsp3: Error during model data update.
* Conversion Error _idJsp4: Error during model data update.

And I finally discovered that the Seam component, user, is not instantiated,
that's why the property value of user cannot get set.

But the reason is why the user Seam component cannot get instantiated? If you
guys have any idea, please let me know. This issue really makes piss me off.

thanks

It is likely becasue the Seam component, ApplicationUser(in your case), doesn't

[jboss-user] [JBoss Seam] - Re: Any way to debug why Seam isn't registering a component?

2007-08-23 Thread bensonfungjava
Mine doesn't work. If I get rid of seam jar in war file, I got the following
exception.

java.lang.IllegalArgumentException: Class
org.jboss.seam.jsf.SeamApplicationFactory is no
javax.faces.application.ApplicationFactory

Please help.

[jboss-user] [JBoss Seam] - Re: JBOSS Seam example application, registration, doesn't wo

2007-08-23 Thread bensonfungjava
Hi lipmanp,

Yes, I did followed the instruction in the getting start page. Seam does
support 4.0.5.

--
2.1 Before you start
Make sure you have JDK 5 or JDK 6, JBoss AS 4.0.5 and Ant 1.6, along with
recent versions of Eclipse, the JBoss IDE plugin for Eclipse and the TestNG
plugin for Eclipse correctly installed before starting. Add your JBoss
installation to the JBoss Server View in Eclipse. Start JBoss in debug mode.
Finally, start a command prompt in the directory where you unzipped the Seam
distribution.
---

If anyone has idea what the problem is, please help.

Thanks
Benson

2007-08-23 Thread bensonfungjava
Hi,
I deployed the registration ear file into JBOSS AS, however, I got the error
log message as follows:

Class org.jboss.seam.jsf.SeamApplicationFactory is no
javax.faces.application.ApplicationFactory

Can anyone tell me what is the meaning of this message?

Thanks
Benson

[jboss-user] [Installation, Configuration Deployment] - Re: log4j with jboss issue ?

2007-06-28 Thread bensonfungjava
Hi,

I followed two approaches documented by JBOSS, i.e. RepositorySelector and MDC.
Both don't work. Dont' work means it didn't generate my application owned log
file. To bad

Hi,

Both suggestion from the Wiki don't work. It is cheating.

I just cut and paste the code into my code, it doesn't work at all.

too bad
