Couldnt you just put an interceptor on the Entity bean? or intercept one of seam's interceptors. I just looked up Interceptors in my EJB3 book, and it looks pretty simple. I had ignored it before because I didn't think I had any reason to mess with them, but now it looks like it's a great fit for this type of need.
