My question was if there is any other solution.
As to my second post I wanted to share my experience, since that exception does
not sugguest how to resolve the problem.

BTW. If I annotate countryCreator.init method as @Begin then I get :
java.lang.IllegalStateException: begin method invoked from a long-running
conversation, try using @Begin(join=true) on method: init
This does not give me the clue that I must supply pageflow name :
@Begin(pageflow="addCountry")

If I understood you correctly this thing can not be solved.
It is very inconvenient thing for slowing those especially nasty bugs that can
not be reproduced easily,
Would it make any difference if I post request on JIRA for JBPM.

Anyway thank you for your trouble.

There are two possible causes, both are which are in the first stack trace you
post. Unfortunately Seam can't work out which one is correct, due to a
limitation in jBPM's EL integration. It's either a PropertyNotFoundException or
a MethodNotFoundException.

I really don't understand what you mean :(

I did a little digging, and this is my findings:

I have two pageflows, "Radna mjesta" and "Kriteriji". On one pageflows I get
illegal navigation, on other nothing.

Radna mjesta pageflow

  | http://jboss.com/products/seam/pageflow";
  | xmlns:xsi="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance";
  | xsi:schemaLocation="http://jboss.com/products/seam/pageflow

  |
  |
#{messages['kadrovska.maticni.sifarnik.radnoMjesto.pregled']}
  |
  |
  |
  |
  |
  |
  |
  |

Kriteriji pageflow

  | http://jboss.com/products/seam/pageflow";
  | xmlns:xsi="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance";
  | xsi:schemaLocation="http://jboss.com/products/seam/pageflow
http://jboss.com/products/seam/pageflow-1.2.xsd";
  | name="kriterij">
  |
  |
  |
  |
  |
#{messages['kadrovska.maticni.sifarnik.kriterij.pregled']}
  |
  |
  |
  |
  |
  |
  |

This is the way I call this pageflows (via value binding)

  |
  |
  |
  |

When I call Radna mjesta I get illegal navigation, and when I call Kriteriji
everything is fine.

I try to put s:link without value binding and then everything is fine. No
illegal navigation on Radna Mjesta

  |
  |
  |
  |

At the end of this post I will like to ask for help on this issue. What should
I do to stop getting illegal navigation.

Thanks!

I also thought the pageflow scope should have been in the conversation. I
couldn't figure out what was causing it to not be there. I am using Seam 1.2.0
patch 1 - so maybe something there...

Since I found a workaround quickly I haven't looked deeper into the Seam code
to figure out why the pageflow scope is not there. Maybe I'll get a chance
when I upgrade to Seam 2.x - I have a comment in the code to look at it again.

Thanks for the suggestion on passing the conversation id around.

[jboss-user] [JBoss Seam] - Re: Pageflow & 3rd Party Site

2007-12-05 Thread chane
I had the 3rd party site redirect call a stateless method. In that method I
reattached the conversation from a variable included in the redirect request:

 Manager.instance().restoreConversation()

After I reinstated the conversation, the Pageflow.instance() was null. Did I
do something wrong.

Anyway, I restarted the pageflow and then repositioned to the node I wanted and
everything worked fine.

Just curios if there was a better way to do this.

Chris

Keep hold of the conversation id, and you should be ok - just step back to the
correct view of the pageflow and with the correct cid parameter. Let us know if
this works - interesting problem :)

yoursite/checkout_page

yoursite/paypal_payment_page

paypal.com
-> (using GET or POST with the conversation ID; not sure which would work
better)
yoursite/paypal_payment_page

The JIRA issue Pete linked to is the reason for your error. A workaround is to
add parenthesis to the method call in the EL (so
"#{webCustomerAction.persistContact()}" ).

Even when you do fix that, the redirection and/or message showing still might
not work properly because of some other Seam bugs (see
http://jira.jboss.org/jira/browse/JBSEAM-2139)

If we are beginning the pageflow during the RENDER_RESPONSE phase—during a
@Factory or @Create method, for example—we consider ourselves to be already
at the page being rendered, and use a node as the first node in
the pageflow, as in the example above.

But if the pageflow is begun as the result of an action listener invocation,
the outcome of the action listener determines which is the first page to be
rendered. In this case, we use a as the first node in the
pageflow, and declare a transition for each possible outcome:

Did you ever figure out what the resolution for this was? We're having similar
issues - someone submits a page which (in our case) creates a new object and
adds it to a collection. They then press back, which since it was the same
HTML page should show the same page but about the new (current) object. It
doesn't - the current object is still in scope but the data for the previous
object is shown. If they then resubmit, it overwrites the new object with the
data from the previous object! If they hit Refresh, the page is correctly
shown with the data from the new object.

A convoluted way to say, "Me too," I know. Any solution?

but no, the previous page was in the conversation, I see your point regarding
differing conversations but that's not the case here. Please see the full
pageflow definition below:

So say I've started the flow and navigated to
/quote/selectProductionFolder.xhtml, clicking back button takes me back to
/quote/searchResults.xhtml, but here clicking any action (eg. 'quote') just
refreshes the current page /quote/searchResults.xhtml

I have a similar need where I want a main pageflow who dispatches to
sub-systems that have their own pageflow. At any point the parent pageflow may
need to resume, make a decision, and dispatch again. Currently it doesn't look
like you can transition to a completely separate pageflow from a decision node.

Is this possible by programmatically starting the pageflow using the Seam API
e.g perhaps an action listener begins nested pageflows?

No, a conversation and a pageflow are the same length

I don't see why these two things are related (transaction commiting, pageflow
ending). Call em.flush(), call identity.login(), then end the pageflow,
transitioning to the users home page.

Hi, I just found the correct solution of this. The @Begin method should return
the String outcome of the same name, as in transition name and it works fine.

[jboss-user] [JBoss Seam] - Re: Pageflow Question & Switcher Issue

2007-05-04 Thread Delphi's Ghost
Looking at this a bit more, it seems that join="true" might not be the best
answer.
In my dummy app, I have meeting objects which has one or more person objects as
members. When editing the meeting, you can select "add member" to go to the
person search page where you select a person and the pageflow takes you back to
the meeting edit with the person added as a member.

However, when on the person search page, you might want to invoke the add or
edit person button to add or edit a person. The add/edit person page should
have its own conversation and pageflow (right now, there is no pageflow). Bear
in mind that add/edit person could be called from the search page (or a RESTful
URL) without being part of a conversation, and therefore should be able to
start it's own conversation.

If I start my person edit conversation with
:

Edit meeting (start conversation A)
click add member->goto person search page
click add person->goto person edit page (start nested conversation B)
click save person -> (end conversation B) goto person search page
select my new person ->goto edit meeting page
save my meeting (end conversation A)

If I use join=true, which at the moment, the pageflow issue is forcing me to :

Edit meeting (start conversation A)
click add member->goto person search page
click add person->goto person edit page (join conversation A)
click save person -> (end conversation A) goto person search page
I have no active conversation at this point!

My person editor just ended my original conversation.

So it looks like nested should be the best option when dealing with pageflows.
However the problem there is that nested=true on the begin-conversation tag
causes a new nested conversation with each page rendering. Again, it's this
issue of repeating the conversation tag everytime the page is rendered.

It sounds like the I should go submit a JIRA, and link back to this thread, and
see what the powers that be think.

OTOH, my little meet manager test app rocks with seam, I can add meetings go
select people, and come back to the meeting editor, and the conversation stuff
just makes it so painless and straightforward.

Hey, thanks for the reply,

anonymous wrote :

Ok, my only thought was that nested=true would result in a new nested
conversation on each render, and join = false results in errors on each render,
so if it was by design, it would make those two attributes irrelevant on the
 tag.

Wonder what happens if you put join=true and nested=true?

Thanks, it works perfectly. It's always the little things that trip me up, and
looking again, I see it talks about it in the reference guide. I can't believe
I missed it, although it doesn't say you have to define it in the page flow,
only that it lets you put a description per page.

Thanks again,

You may try defining that in pages.xml

Is is more of an appropriate place since the action is not tied to any specific
page flow (ie you want this action to fire however you get to the page)

Yes, it is of course possible. And we did it, but I was curious to understand
why the ID parameter was evaluating expression and pageflow wasn't. So I took a
look to the code and I see t was just a row of code to make it possible.
Simply it seemed to me better to have all annotation parameters evalueting EL
and just do it.
If you think it is wrong, please tell me why. No problem for me to go back to
put the code in our begin method, and as said also no problem to submit this
little patch if you think it would be useful for some other people.

I have annotated the @Create method which is called during the RENDER_RESPONSE

I did read the manual several times but managed to miss the two sentences below.

Wouldnt it be a good idea to put in an error message explaining what went wrong
instead of throwing a ClassCastException. I thought it was a class loading
issue! (of which I have found several with jboss). I imagine that many more
people will fall into the same trap I did.

Thanks

>From the docs ...
If we are beginning the pageflow during the RENDER_RESPONSE phase?during a
@Factory or @Create method, for example?we consider ourselves to be already at
the page being rendered, and use a node as the first node in the
pageflow, as in the example above.

But if the pageflow is begun as the result of an action listener invocation,
the outcome of the action listener determines which is the first page to be
rendered. In this case, we use a as the first node in the
pageflow, and declare a transition for each possible outcome:

But jBPM (actually the Seam jBPM integration) delegates to JSF to evaluate the
expression. And documentRegister.type has the perfectly legitimate value "null"
in JSF-EL. So all we can do is report that the expression evaluated to null.

Thanks once again - my mistake

I do think though that the message

Caused by: org.jbpm.JbpmException: decision expression
'#{documentRegister.type}' returned null
at org.jbpm.graph.node.Decision.execute(Decision.java:110)

is misleading, it would be better to say
"documentRegister" not found in any context.

It is called documentRegisterEntry not documentRegister, fix your EL expression.

Great, That fixed it. Thanks Gavin

I had copied the newuser.jpdl.xml file from the dvd example
which has start-state
instead of start-page

In fact all the jpdl examples from the cvs have start-state, confusing!

Wouldnt there be a way to validate the schema or dtd to catch the problem
earlier and make sure
others dont fall into the same trap as me?

Perhaps you need to use instead of in your process
