[JBoss-user] [EJB/JBoss] - Deploy a Weblogic 5.1 EJB on JBoss 4.0.1
Hi I am trying to make an equivalent jboss.xml from a weblogic-ejb-jar.xml. The weblogic DD is for Weblogic v 5.1. Here is a sample: spa.anesthesia.AnesthBilling 100 100 60 60 spa.anesthesia.AnesthBilling TRANSACTION_READ_COMMITTED spa.anesthesia.AnesthBilling Remote * spa spa Can someone tell me what are the jboss specific tags that will be replacing the given tags above. Additional information: I tried the FOEDeployer as provided in Wiki but unfortunately this did not deploy the application. I guess the converter only works for Weblogic v6 EJBs Also tried to deploy the jarred application without the weblogic-ejb-jar files- and even this did not deploy the application. Any help will be greatly appreciated. Not sure where in the Wiki this should go? As Adrian indicates, (no locking in excess of) row level locking is a requirement no matter what the database. To make that more explicit, the SQL in the /docs/examples/jms/sybase-jdbc2-service.xml should probably be changed to add in the LOCK DATAROWS clauses on the following create statements: | CREATE_MESSAGE_TABLE = CREATE TABLE dbo.JMS_MESSAGES ( MESSAGEID INTEGER NOT NULL, \ | DESTINATION VARCHAR(255) NOT NULL, TXID INTEGER NULL, TXOP CHAR(1), \ | MESSAGEBLOB IMAGE, PRIMARY KEY (MESSAGEID, DESTINATION) ) LOCK DATAROWS | | | | CREATE_TX_TABLE = CREATE TABLE dbo.JMS_TRANSACTIONS ( TXID INTEGER, PRIMARY KEY (TXID) ) \ | LOCK DATAROWS | View the original post : http://www.jboss.org/index.html?module=bb&op=viewtopic&p=3864492#3864492 Reply to the post : http://www.jboss.org/index.html?module=bb&op=posting&mode=reply&p=3864492 --- This SF.Net email is sponsored by: IntelliVIEW -- Interactive Reporting Tool for open source databases. [JBoss-user] [Installation & Configuration] - Re: automatically adding application policy in login-config.
Thanks, Scott! That was one of my annoyances w/ JBoss; it seemed JBoss could dynamically load an app unless you have a custom app policy w/ its own security context. You guys should make this a default mbean (it's not in the default instance's jboss-service.xml for JBoss 4.0.1). Seems like it would be good standard behavior... Is there something similiar w/ jbossmq-destinations-service.xml so you don't have to hand-edit that either? ken View the original post : http://www.jboss.org/index.html?module=bb&op=viewtopic&p=3864490#3864490 Reply to the post : http://www.jboss.org/index.html?module=bb&op=posting&mode=reply&p=3864490 --- This SF.Net email is sponsored by: IntelliVIEW -- Interactive Reporting Tool for open source databases. Please check the commit-option you are using. Please check whether you have set the clustered option in jboss.xml for your entity beans to true. So you mean, since jboss.web:type=protocolHandler,className=org.apache.jk.server.JkCoyoteHandler doesn't emit any notification on its own to which you could subscribe to, you want to monitor for its registration to the MBean server. That would require a filter that doesn't filter by type, but by content. You can't do that now, but it's a nice idea, e.g: | | | | bla bla | | | | I made a feature request for that: http://jira.jboss.com/jira/browse/JBAS-1365 Cheers! [JBoss-user] [EJB/JBoss] - Web apps and stateful beans
Hi, I have a stateful ejb running in jboss and two web apps running in tomcat. The two web apps are a product catalog and a shopping cart for an online store. The shopping cart uses the stateful ejb to keep track of it's contents. However, I'd like to have the product catalog access the same bean to retrieve the cart's contents and display it in other parts of the store but whenever I look up the bean on JNDI, I get a brand new, and of course, empty, shopping cart stateful bean. Is there any way that I can access the exact object that the shopping cart is using? [JBoss-user] [HTTPD, Servlets & JSP] - Alternate security providers
Is there any way in the Tomcat/JBossWeb SSL configuration to indicate a security provider? I have a situation where I have a hardware SSL accelerator that has it's own JCE provider, but the only way I can currently use it with Tomcat/JBossWeb is to configure it as my default security provider (configure it as 'security.provider.1' in the java.security file)... Unfortunately, I can't currently configure my security this way, because I use encryption in other parts of my app that are not compatable with the accelerator... In code, it's easy to specify an alternate provider, however I need someway in Tomcat's server.xml file to enter this information, and I'm not sure if that exists as-is... [JBoss-user] [Persistence & CMP/JBoss] - In-memory Entity Beans?
Been trying to track down an answer to the following problem, obviously unsuccessfully. The thing is, I have a set of entity beans which represents data about the configuration of the running J2EE-application. It is constantly accessed so I need to performance optimize to the max. The data represented by these entity beans never changes during runtime, but it is "relationally" related to other data in the system. So I don't really want to store it in environment entries. In theory, however, I could have done so. Problem is, no matter how I configure these beans they always seem to generate at least two hits at the underlying database engine: One for the primary keys, another for the bean data. Now, the ideal situation for me would simply be to have all entity bean instances loaded once and then never access the underlying database beyond that. After all, the data never changes, so there's no real need for further database hit in the first place. Is there any way to have a table loaded into memory "once and for all" like this? Problem solved if this is possible. If not I'll probably resort to using an in-memory (non-persistent) in-process hsqldb database. Seems reasonable that this would yield optimal performance if database hits are unavoidable. However, since the database is non-persistent it should initially be empty, and I need to prepare it (create and populate tables) before use every time the datasource is deployed. Is there any way to achieve this, say by including a set of sql statements to be run at deployment time? Third question: Using an in-memory datasource or not, is it possible to have purely in-memory entity beans? If so, any way to have these support clustering? Would JBossCache solve any of these problems, perhaps? [JBoss-user] [JBossWS] - Re: Malformed Content-Id in SOAP Attachment Response?
That's interesting. I have another method where I upload a file as DataHandler argument. The client code runs with the Sun J2EE 1.4 jar files, and does not wrap the id with < and >. That was the basis for my assuming the JBoss AS 4.0.1 was messing up. For the original problem pointed out by this thread, I am using the same Sun J2EE 1.4 jar files for my client. After searching the Sun forums, I didn't see any mention of a bug existing that pertains to the locator id. When I run my client that invokes my upload web service (which doesn't wrap with < and >), JBoss AS 4.0.1 is able to locate the attachment. For the defect that I was asked to open up (JBWS81), I created a simple test case as requested. With this test code, an HTML file was to be downloaded, but it exhibited the same problem that I am experiencing with my other code. I have exhausted all of the resources that I can think of at the moment. An earlier post about the Attachment Wiki didn't help either. [JBoss-user] [Beginners Corner] - ejb-env-ref and a deployer (person)
I am developing an application component on jboss 3.2.5. I have been reading about the ejb-env-ref tags that can be used to allow the component to be assigned to a reference which is then connected to something in the global JNDI. How do you do that? I have been trying to understand it for quite some time now but I am still confused. My first assumption is that the deployer does not need to explode the EJB jar to modify the jboss.xml inside the jar. The deployer should be able to setup the JNDI to have a link that the ejb-env-ref refers to. But I can't figure out how to do that. Can someone help? [JBoss-user] [Messaging, JMS & JBossMQ] - Re: Persistence-related exceptions in JMS under heavy load
I experienced the same deadlock problems you described, which tend to show up more under load. I discovered that row level locking in Sybase 11 & 12 is not always enabled/displayed properly by 3rd party database tools. The default seems to be to lock the entire table even when MAX_ROWS_PER_PAGE is set to one. You also have to make sure that "LOCK DATAROWS" is specified. The solution I found was to issue the following SQL commands: | ALTER TABLE JMS_MESSAGES LOCK DATAROWS | ALTER TABLE JMS_TRANSACTIONS LOCK DATAROWS | | --which should produce table DDL like the following: | | CREATE TABLE dbo.JMS_MESSAGES | ( | MESSAGEID int NOT NULL, | DESTINATION varchar(255) NOT NULL, | TXIDint NULL, | TXOPchar(1) NULL, | MESSAGEBLOB imageNULL | ) | LOCK DATAROWS | WITH EXP_ROW_SIZE=280, | MAX_ROWS_PER_PAGE=1 | | | CREATE TABLE dbo.JMS_TRANSACTIONS | ( | TXID int NULL | ) | LOCK DATAROWS | WITH EXP_ROW_SIZE=4, | MAX_ROWS_PER_PAGE=1 | View the original post : http://www.jboss.org/index.html?module=bb&op=viewtopic&p=3864431#3864431 Reply to the post : http://www.jboss.org/index.html?module=bb&op=posting&mode=reply&p=3864431 --- This SF.Net email is sponsored by: IntelliVIEW -- Interactive Reporting Tool for open source databases. [JBoss-user] [Management, JMX/JBoss] - Re: mbeans read-only attributes
If you use XMBeans you have the option of declaring attributes, that don't correspond to actual POJO attributes (i.e. no getter/setter) and for which a default value may be specified, e.g | | SomeString | java.lang.String | | | | | A problem with this is your POJO code will have to go through the MBeanServer to read the atttribute, if needed. But as Scott pointed out, this seems to be mostly an access control issue. [JBoss-user] [JBossWS] - Re: Did anybody sucessfully deploy a document literal webser
Siano - Nobody seems to be responding to these types of questions, but after 3 days of staring at this, I finally got mine to work. :) Here's what I did to get a document/literal web service to work in JBoss 4.0.1. Like yourself, I implemented the endpoint interface and the implementing POJO class. I initially used wscompile with the -gen:server task, but for some reason, wscompile wrote a web.xml file that JBoss complained about, so I scratched that idea since I didn't want to have my ant build file have to copy over files etc. Instead, I first created the wsdl and mapping file via the -define parameter, then I used the -client option to generate the appropriate serializers/deserializers. By hand, I wrote the webservices.xml and web.xml files which I then packaged everything together via an ant build file and pushed it into the JBoss deploy directory and voila. Everything worked. :) _RK View the original post : http://www.jboss.org/index.html?module=bb&op=viewtopic&p=3864429#3864429 Reply to the post : http://www.jboss.org/index.html?module=bb&op=posting&mode=reply&p=3864429 --- This SF.Net email is sponsored by: IntelliVIEW -- Interactive Reporting Tool for open source databases. [JBoss-user] [Management, JMX/JBoss] - Re: mbeans read-only attributes
This can be achieved by running with a security manager and assigning the core service layer jars the approriate permission while not allowing write access from the jmx-console.war or jmx-invoker-service.xml. You can partition out the untrusted access paths into a seperate deploy directory that is not assigned any write permissions. More generically you would have configure the mbean as an xmbean with a security interceptor that imposed the can access semantics you are looking for. This would require a run-as security interceptor on the SARDeployer in order for it to be seen as a trusted component. [JBoss-user] [Management, JMX/JBoss] - Re: mbeans read-only attributes
I had the same question, sort of. I think I want the same thing you do. I want a "read-only" attribute (I don't want any user code modifying it - either through a JMX console, a remote JMX API call, etc.). However, i want the deployer to be able to set it in via its [mbean>[attribute> setting in my jboss-service.xml. The only way I can this as being possible is to have my MBean define a read-write attribute, but have it act as a "read-but-write-only-once". My setter will have to maintain an internal member variable "wasSet" whose default is false. When the setter is called, if "wasSet" is false, it sets the attribute but then sets wasSet to true, disabling any future calls to the setter. This would allow, at deployment time, the [mbean>[attribute> setting to work, but thereafter, the MBean attribute is considered read-only. The use-case for this feature is a security setting that I have. I have a setting that, for security purposes, should not be allowed to be set by anyone during the time the MBean is registered in the MBeanServer. But I want the deployer of the MBean to have the option to configure this security feature (enable it or disable it). Hence why I need the capability to set the attribute for the first time. This way, the deploy can set the [mbean>[attribute> to whatever they want and not be afraid that some other code will come later and revert the setting. Am I missing some JBossAS feature or is this the only way to do it? I then updated the ws4ee-deploymnet.xml as follows: This deploys fine and I can now access the WSDL. But when I try to consume the service, I get an error indicating invalid element - arg0. Are there any examples for consuming a service with an array of objects as the passed in parameter and an array of complex types as the return type? If this is not possible, what must be done to consume the service? Any quidance would be greatly appreciated. Best Regards. Hi, 99,9% your classes server/client are not the same. I think that the system cannot create serialVersionUID itself. Maybe Eclipse has a cache of the old classes. [JBoss-user] [JBoss Getting Started Documentation] - Re: Wrong xml deploy!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
You are more likely to get help if you post in the correct group. This is for discussing the getting started guide, not for general questions. To answer your question anyways, the only reason I could imagine that your MBean interface isn't being found is that it is in the wrong package. Check that first. If that isn't the problem, post in the JMX forum. You are much more likely to get help there. [JBoss-user] [Clustering/JBoss] - Multi-Homed Configuration passing wrong ip to Remote Clients
Hello. I currently have a 2 node JBoss 4.0.1 cluster running. I have two interface adapters in each machine. the first adapter in each has an ip 155.x.x.x that corresponds to our main subnet. The second adapter in each has its own private non-routable ips 192.168.1.x. I have set the bind_addr of each jboss server to be the internal (192) ip of the machine since I want all multicast cluster traffic to occur over that. The problem is if I have a client that is not a member of the 192 subnet try to connect to the server (more specifically if I try to do a remote JNDI lookup on an EJB) using the servers 155 address I get the following error: Failed to connect to server 192.168.1.4 For some reason the client is sucessfully hitting the server but getting HA ips (most likely from the dispatcher) that are in the private subnet! Am I am doing something wrong? The clustering docs just say to set the bind address to the desired interface. here is my UDP configuration just in case: | View the original post : http://www.jboss.org/index.html?module=bb&op=viewtopic&p=3864408#3864408 Reply to the post : http://www.jboss.org/index.html?module=bb&op=posting&mode=reply&p=3864408 --- This SF.Net email is sponsored by: IntelliVIEW -- Interactive Reporting Tool for open source databases. I'm not sure it was helping with my wsdl service being called Service as well, so i have changed this to MyService. I know have the files MyService.java, MyServiceLocator.java, Service.java, ServiceImpl.java, ServiceSkeleton and ServiceStub. It's still not clear which classes should be referenced in the web.xml and webservices.xml. [JBoss-user] [JBossWS] - Authenticating Webservice as Web Session
I want to launch a client app from a web page such that it will access web services with the same authentication as existed for the web page. In JBoss 3.2.3, I could do this by passing the session id to the app so it could add the jsessionid cookie to the http headers. This technique doesn't seem to work (or I don't know how to configure my application so it does work). Is this approach possible? If so, how? If not, is there a reasonable alternative? The goal is be able to seamlessly invoke applications that use access-controlled web services on the client from a servlet created web page of a logged-in user. The JNDI will give you smart proxies? Are you trying to answer my question or give me more questions to ask? Could you explain this for me? I am only guessing when I ask: what if JNDI is not JBoss' JNDI, but a 3rth vendor? Or are you saying that JBoss' EJB container sticks those "smart proxies" onto the JNDI tree instead of the stubs? So, what are those smart proxies then? Some sort of generic stubs that take care of marshaling and unmarshaling for you, while passing the call to the EJB object? Thanks, Yaakov. [JBoss-user] [Beginners Corner] - Collecting runtime stats on EJB
I have Stateless Session bean, that I would like to collect some runtime stats on. For example, how often it catches a RollBack exception, how many times it retries, etc. My thinking is that these run time status represent a form of instrumentation. And that as soon as I think instrumentation I should be thinking JMX. Does this make sense? If so, it is simple to make my own MBean and have the EJB talk to it. I can even put my initialization values, such as number of retires, right into the MBean. But isn't there an even easier way? Since all JBoss EJBs are implemented as MBeans anyway isn't there just some way to collect this stuff in that MBean? dt View the original post : http://www.jboss.org/index.html?module=bb&op=viewtopic&p=3864363#3864363 Reply to the post : http://www.jboss.org/index.html?module=bb&op=posting&mode=reply&p=3864363 --- This SF.Net email is sponsored by: IntelliVIEW -- Interactive Reporting Tool for open source databases.
