[JBoss-user] [Security & JAAS/JBoss] - Command Injection Vulnerability?
Apparently someone from "The Computer Guy" IP range (or someone acting as someone from there) got rcp.exe to run on my machine, attempting to contact 216.30.236.32 port 514. I detected this with ZoneAlarm. The reason I'm posting here is because I've just installed JBoss and MySQL on my machine, and until this point, I have never had this type of attack before. It happened right around the time I accessed the JBoss JMX console for the first time from over the Internet (I accessed my home PC from work). I have a non-static IP, so I'm running the No-IP DUC I can find my machine on the Internet. Could someone wager a guess as to what happened at 8:42 this morning? What was attempted? How was it done? I password protected my JBoss JMX and Management consoles, but of course it's only with basic authentication, which is really nothing if someone wants to snoop. Is there something in one of the interfaces that get installed with JBoss that would allow for someone to start a remote copy? Thanks. --Dale-- ---DETAILSÂ-- Description TCP/IP Remote Copy Command requested permission to access the internet. [JBoss-user] [Installation & Configuration] - Re: Apache load balancing with JBoss worker nodes configurat
Well, I went ahead and made a copy of the cofiguration that I got to work and cleaned up all the duplicate port numbers from the copy. I managed to get two server instances up and running. Tests indicated that the cluster was working properly, so I'm assuming that I did it correctly. It just seemed like kind of an awkward way to do it. Coming up with a scripted way to install a cluster from a single config description may be a bit of a challenge. I'll use XSL; but I'm not sure if the rewriting feature is strong enough to create directories. [JBoss-user] [JBossWS] - Retrieving a list of all Web Services deployed under a JBoss
Hi All, Any ideas for the following challenge will be highly appreciated: 1. The Good: JBoss 4.0 JMX has an MBean called: jboss.ws4ee:service=AxisService One of its operations, listServices(), returns a list of all the Web Services deployed under the Axis service Btw, The operation's string output is an HTML table code; the table describes the web services... a bit wierd, but does the job... 2. The Bad: JBoss 3.2 ships with Axis 1.1, no JMX bean... If one wants a list of all the web services, he/she has not many options, one of them is to scan the deployment directories and files (for example: look for xAR's *.wsdd files) Does anybody know a way to retrieve the list of web services within JBoss 3.2? Please reply of you know anything that could help, any comments will be highly appreciated and thankfull. Perhaps this is an Axis question, since Axis is deployed as a simple web application inside JBoss 3.2, or does JBoss 3.2 knows something special about Axis 1.1 ? if you feel this is a pure Axis 1.1 question, could you direct me to an appropriate forum (and I will post here a link to my question in that forum...) Would it be possible to either: 1) Make it a configuration setting whether the user would like to see these particular errors and warnings. or 2) At least log these particular messages in its own logging Category (such as org.jboss.cache.eviction.LRUAlgorithm.EvictNodeNotFoundError and/or org.jboss.cache.eviction.EvictionTimerTask.EvictNodeNotFoundError), so in my log4j config I can switch logging off for these categories. I am really having problems with j_security_check and STRUTS! Rene, Where do I put the redirect statment you mentioned earlier, should it go to the LoginAction class before the return mapping.findForward(IConstants.SUCCESS_KEY); and, how do I finally get to my "main" page after the j_security? Do I go the usual route via the struts-config.xml, i.e. define an action and go on frm there? [JBoss-user] [Management, JMX/JBoss] - Re: user-service.xml
Sorry, I used the wrong format. Therefore a second trial: Thanks, but I don't even know the tags I have to use, because I don't have a dtd or xml schema. Anyway, my user-service.xml looks like the following: | | | | | | | | The problem I still have is the following: The MBean com.regenwetter.Test is deployed within an ear-File (named test.ear). Therefore I do get a ClassNotFoundException because the classloader is not able to load the MBean com.regenwetter.Test. Hence I used the classpath tag: | | | | | | But the classloader is still not able to load the MBean com.regenwetter.Test, because the MBean is located in an jar file (named test.jar) within the ear file. Everything is working fine, if I extract the ear-File and write something like: | | | | | | But we are not allowed to extract the ear-File. In addtion to that I don't want to create a separate sar directory and put the jar File into that, because I have to provide the jar file twice in this case. So, what can I do or what is the best way to go respectively ? [JBoss-user] [Messaging, JMS & JBossMQ] - Re: How to resolve error javax.jms.InvalidClientIDException:
Hi, i've done this before an uncommented this interceptor. Unfortunately is this interceptor not working correct. I've created an entry in the bug database with the result, that this interceptor was implemented in a dirty way and will be removed in future versions. So this is no solution for us. Adrian Brock commented on JBAS-1626: I disagreed with this interceptor when it was first written but let it pass because it is not enabled by default. It was put there by the guy (who now works on ActriveMQ) that wrote the buggy ILs that couldn't detect that a client crashed. We no longer use those ILs. It is a big security concern (to me) that one client can hijack another client's subscription. It is certainly not spec compliant. If you are telling me it does not work, I am more likely to delete it than fix it. There are no tests for this behaviour in the testsuite. So unless you can provide a fix yourself, I am going to close this as "Won't Fix" and remove the interceptor from the codebase. [JBoss-user] [EJB/JBoss] - Referencing remote EJBs
Given two JBoss installations on seperate machines, a server and a client, is it possible for the client to lookup EJBs on the remote server just by configuring the ejb-jar.xml and jboss.xml on the client? Or do I have to write code to specifically lookup the remote EJBs via the remote server's JNDI? I'd presumed the lookup of remote EJBs could be done without any special code, just setting up the jboss.xml config, but I haven't been able to find anything related to this. Only the standalone Java client JNDI lookup. Hi, I do need a template of user-service.xml. It is not part of jboss4.0.1.zip, although it is referenced in chapter 2.4.2 in the official documentation. How can I get it ? [JBoss-user] [HTTPD, Servlets & JSP] - Re: Unable to get connection, DataSource invalid:
I had the same problem today but found the answer in the DataSourceUtil class of the Jakarta implementation of JSTL. The problem is that the SQL function looks for the DataSource in the "java:comp/env" namespace where as your datasource probably is in the "java:" namespace. Mine was anyways. The solution is to map the datasource to Tomcat using the web.xml and jboss-web.xml deployment descriptors: web.xml | | | The used datasource | jdbc/DefaultDS | javax.sql.DataSource | Container | | jboss-web.xml | | | jdbc/DefaultDS | javax.sql.DataSource | java:/pestikom2 | | The above makes the java:/pestikom2 from JBoss datasource available in the java:/comp/env namespace in Tomcat. [JBoss-user] [Security & JAAS/JBoss] - Where should I put my truststore?
Hi, I have an SLSB that consumes a webservice over HTTPS. I have imported the certificate to a truststore. Right now I have hardcoded the location of the truststore in my EJB | System.setProperty("javax.net.ssl.trustStore", "d:\\mytrustore"); | System.setProperty("javax.net.ssl.trustStorePassword","pwd"); | This works fine, but I don't like the hardcoding part. I have tried to add the trustsore to the ejb.jar, inside the same package as the EJB; System.setProperty("javax.net.ssl.trustStore", this.getClass().getResource("mytrustore").getFile() | ); | System.setProperty("javax.net.ssl.trustStorePassword","pwd"); | and outside; | System.setProperty("javax.net.ssl.trustStore", "mytrustore"); | System.setProperty("javax.net.ssl.trustStorePassword","pwd"); | But, I get an exception that no trusted certificate is found when I try this. Is this JDBC version change possible without changing Jboss 3.2.3 version. Hi, I think you would have to invoke aopc multiple times, once for each directory of files. Just make sure all the folders containing classes are on the classpath. [JBoss-user] [Clustering/JBoss] - Re: jgroup connection unstable
Could be a lot of things. I suggest you test JGroups standalone first (so we can exclude a JBoss problem). Take 2.2.7 (or 2.2.8 from the CVS) and run the same test. [JBoss-user] [Clustering/JBoss] - Re: Problem with HAJMS MDB accessing load balanced SLSB.
I decided to deploy the MDB's on one node. The plan was then to remove most of the logic out of the MDB into SLSB which are load balanced across the cluster. Ok, what about the following two-step approch: The MDB with a durable subscription to your JMS topic (restricted to one node due to the unique client ID requirement) simply forwards each received message to an 'internal' processing queue (let's call this MDB message forwarder). These messages then can be processed (without duplicates) by a second MDB () deployed on ALL nodes (let's call these MDB's message processors). You would gain perfect loadbalacing AND transactional safety at the cost of an additonal JMS message send operation. As the processing is anyway asynchronous this shouldn not be a real problem in most cases :-) Regards Ulf View the original post : http://www.jboss.org/index.html?module=bb&op=viewtopic&p=3872314#3872314 Reply to the post : http://www.jboss.org/index.html?module=bb&op=posting&mode=reply&p=3872314 --- This SF.net email is sponsored by Demarc: A global provider of Threat Management Solutions. [JBoss-user] [Installation & Configuration] - Sun JVM 64-bit
Hello all, I am planning to use JBoss in some Sun boxes with UltraSparc III processors, so it would be nice to use the 64-bit version of JVM. I looked at the JVM version compatibility matrix provided by JBoss documentation and website, but it doesn't specify if 64-bit version is supported or not. I would like to use version 1.4.2_xx. Does anyone have experience with this? Unfortunately I don't have a proper testing environment :( I think this has to be a common issue and if you pay for 64-bit processors you want your applications to take advantage of this. Regards!
