[JBoss-user] [Persistence,JBoss/CMP, Hibernate, Database] - Upgrading from CMP 1.1 to 2.1 - relationships
I am upgrading a CMP 1.1 based system to CMP 2.1 and are struggling with relationships. I have two beans Activity and ActivityLog where the table structure looks as follows: CREATE TABLE Activity ( | id bigint(20) NOT NULL, | description varchar(75) default NULL, | entityCode char(2) default NULL, | active char(1) default NULL, | seq int(11) default NULL, | PRIMARY KEY (id) | ) | CREATE TABLE ActivityLog ( | id bigint(20) NOT NULL, | entityId bigint(20) default NULL, | activityId bigint(20) default NULL, | userId bigint(20) NOT NULL default '0', | activityDate datetime default NULL, | description varchar(100) default NULL, | PRIMARY KEY (id) | ) | In the old way I had a finder called findActivitiesForEntity which i defined as follows in jaws.xml: | finder | namefindActivitiesForEntity/name | query, Activity | WHERE ActivityLog.activityId = Activity.id | AND ActivityLog.entityId = {0} | AND Activity.entityCode = {1} | /query | orderactivityDate DESC, id DESC/order | /finder | I found no way of doing it this way on JBOSS 4.0.1 using CMP 2.1 which is my target so I modified the finder to look like this instead (using xdoclet): @ejb.finder | signature=java.util.Collection findActivitiesForEntity(long entityId, java.lang.String entityCode) | query=SELECT OBJECT(o) FROM ActivityLog AS o WHERE o.entityId = ?1 AND o.activity.entityCode = ?2 ORDER BY o.activityDate DESC, o.id DESC | Thus using the idea of a relationship between ActivityLog and Activity to be able to navigate from one to the other. However i cannot figure out how to declare the CMR relationship. The following code does NOT work as JBoss thinks it is a M:N relationship (which it is not). | /** | * @ejb.interface-method | * | * @ejb.relation | * name=Acitivity-ActivityLog | * role-name=ActivityLog-belongs_to-Activity | * target-role-name=ActivityLog-Activity | * target-ejb=Activity | * | * @jboss.target-relation | *related-pk-field=id | *fk-column=activityId | * | */ | public abstract Activity getActivity( ); | | /** | * @ejb.interface-method | */ | public abstract void setActivity( Activity activity ); | I've not defined any CMR field in Activity (actually tried that as well without any luck). Essentially i want to navigate from ActivityLog to Activity but a re not really interested in going the other way (from Activity to activityLog). Any help would be most appreciated! [JBoss-user] [JBossCache] - Re: Hibernate/TreeCache/JBoss error
Okay, the problem is that 4.0.2 uses JGroups 2.2.7. In 2.2.7, the check for a bind_port 0 is *not* done. A port of 0 means an ephemeral port, but some JDK/OSs don't implement this correctly. What can you do ? - Set bind_port to a valid value - Upgrade to 2.2.8 The upgrade should be simple, because the API hasn't changed between 2.2.7 and 2.2.8. You *may* have to remove some parameters in your XML file, although I don't think that is the case. [JBoss-user] [Management, JMX/JBoss] - Re: Deployment from standalone application.
Or you could copy the file over if you have the server's deploy directory mapped to your machine via Samba or NFS or something... Or use FTP or HTML to upload the file, using the commons net library from apache... I do this sort of thing with Ant all the time (using a deploy target in an Ant script) which just uses the Ant copy target to copy over to a mapped drive. [JBoss-user] [JBoss Portal] - Re: war, ear or sar?
I did a test and the result shows that ear containing war and jar doesn't work. I suspected that it is due to the context root confliction, because there is a jboss-app.xml and context.xml in the jbossportal core already. What i did was to deploy jar file directly. Portlets in war use jndi lookup by using local-ejb-ref tag in the jboss-web.xml. It works. But there is a strange problem related to the classloader: If the war file includes the interface classes of the ejbs in its lib directory, there will be a classloader exception. But if i remove the ejbs interfaces from its lib directory, it works. In my understanding, i expected that the ejb interfaces should be included in the lib directory. Is this true? The idea is that the configuration file would have a region setting for each cluster node. Hi All, I initially faced the same problem with JBoss 4.0.2, EclipseIDE and java1.5. But the problem can be solved by just removing the FiboEJB-client.jar from FiboWeb.war, and then re-packaging and redeploying the FiboApp again! May be this is happening because of multiple occurrence of the interfaces. But for local clients, we anyway need the client JAR...will nitofy here later if I get any solution about this client problem. RHINO, u told that ur problem was not solved even after doing the same. But beleive me boss, it worked for me! So try it again, may be u forgot to repackage and redeploy the project again! I do not believe that the default sun implementation is searching through the classpath to find the JAAS config file (see http://java.sun.com/j2se/1.4.2/docs/guide/security/jaas/spec/com/sun/security/auth/login/ConfigFile.html). [JBoss-user] [Messaging, JMS JBossMQ] - JMS migration from WLS to JBoss 4
Hi, We are migrating a J2EE application (involving JMS/MDB) from Weblogic 7 to JBoss 4. The setup on weblogic uses Queue, Connection factory, JMS server, JDBC Message store. We have been able to create Queue on JBoss using jbossmq-destinations-service.xml and we tried to create Connection factory in jms-ds.xml as : anonymous wrote : | no-tx-connection-factory | jndi-namePBOLogQueueConnectionFactory/jndi-name | rar-namejms-ra.rar/rar-name | connection-definitionorg.jboss.resource.adapter.jms.JmsConnectionFactory/connection-definition | config-property name=SessionDefaultType type=java.lang.Stringjavax.jms.Queue/config-property | max-pool-size20/max-pool-size | security-domain-and-application/ | /no-tx-connection-factory But our remote client says the factory is not bound as : anonymous wrote : Testing JMS log queue by sending a test message...javax.naming.NameNotFoundException: PBOLogQueueConnectionFactory not bound | at org.jnp.server.NamingServer.getBinding(NamingServer.java:491) | at org.jnp.server.NamingServer.getBinding(NamingServer.java:499) | at org.jnp.server.NamingServer.getObject(NamingServer.java:505) | at org.jnp.server.NamingServer.lookup(NamingServer.java:278) | at sun.reflect.NativeMethodAccessorImpl.invoke0(Native Method) | at sun.reflect.NativeMethodAccessorImpl.invoke(NativeMethodAccessorImpl.java:39) Now our query is : a) why is ConnectionFactory not found by client ? b) how to declare/configure JDBC Message-store and JMS server in JBoss ? [JBoss-user] [EJB/JBoss] - Re: How to make primitive types accept null values in jbossc
Ah, there must be a setting for it There is a simple way to find these settings. Look at your jbosscmp-jdbc.xml file. If this was properly made (perhaps by XDoclet) then it should have a dtd. This DTD will give you a webpage, here's what the address should be... http://www.jboss.org/j2ee/dtd/jbosscmp-jdbc_4_0.dtd The parser uses the document at this location to verify your file, therefore, any options that are allowed in the file will be defined in this page. Search this page for null and you should find what you're looking for. If you can't read a DTD, you should take a few minutes to learn the basics, but pretty much, you need to write something that looks like this... cmp-field field-nameid/field-name column-namefid/column-name not-null / /cmp-field View the original post : http://www.jboss.org/index.html?module=bbop=viewtopicp=3885480#3885480 Reply to the post : http://www.jboss.org/index.html?module=bbop=postingmode=replyp=3885480 --- SF.Net email is sponsored by: Discover Easy Linux Migration Strategies from IBM. The structure of the jar file you have created is not correct, you need to remove the 'classes' folder from the root of the archive. The output from jar -tf should be: - META-INF/ META-INF/MANIFEST.MF common/ common/EJBHomeFactory.class common/ServiceLocator.class TestPackage/ TestPackage/impl/ TestPackage/impl/TestSessionEJBBean.class TestPackage/TestAction.class TestPackage/TestActionForm.class TestPackage/TestSessionEJB.class TestPackage/TestSessionEJBHome.class META-INF/ejb-jar.xml (Also the application.xml should not be there but that is not related to the problem). Well, I found a surprise sitting in your build path | | ?xml version=1.0 encoding=UTF-8? | aop |!-- This is declaration file for annotation. [JBoss-user] [Tomcat, HTTPD, Servlets JSP] - Re: Support for Tomcat 5.5.9
The more general question is, how does one replace a given Tomcat version with another, and 'rebundle' it with JBOSS? My question is: How can I build the whole bundle from source, including Tomcat sources. I was able to build JBOSS from source, pretty easily. When running that server under JBOSS-IDE, I was able to debug it, and see much of what is going on, and even instrument the code with log output. Great. But whenever the execution is on the side of Tomcat, I can't see the Tomcat sources, and can only guess what happens there. Another debugging question is: How to see what happens when the control jumps over a proxy to a J2EE Bean? Is it possible to debug and see what the generated or hand-coded Bean-methods are doing? By making it easy to debug everything that happens in the Tomcat-JBOSS-client-JBOSS-container -bundle end-to-end would make it an excellent learning tool, and would surely help JBOSS gain market-share. For example, the following code fails: | public void testObjectParam() throws Exception { | Service service = getService(); | WebServicesTest svc = (WebServicesTest) service.getPort(WebServicesTest.class); | TestValueObject tvo = svc.getValueObjectParam( new TestValueObject() ); | System.out.println( WebServicesTest.getValueObjectParam() returned: + tvo.toString() ); | assertNotNull( tvo ); | } | While this test case works: | public void testObjectArrayParam() throws Exception { | Service service = getService(); | WebServicesTest svc = (WebServicesTest) service.getPort(WebServicesTest.class); | | TestValueObject[] tvoa = new TestValueObject[ 3 ]; | for( int i=0; i tvoa.length; i++ ) { | tvoa[ i ] = new TestValueObject(); | tvoa[ i ].setInt( i ); | tvoa[ i ].setString( Element + i ); | } | TestValueObject[] tvoa2 = svc.getValueObjectArrayParam( tvoa ); | for( int i=0; i tvoa2.length; i++ ) { | System.out.println( WebServicesTest.getValueObjectArrayParam() [ + i + ] returned: + tvoa2.toString() ); | } | assertNotNull( tvoa2 ); | } | The server throws the following exception message: 10:43:11,873 ERROR [RPCInvocation] org.xml.sax.SAXException: Deserializing parameter 'testValueObject': could not find deserializer for type {http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema}anyType org.xml.sax.SAXException: Deserializing parameter 'testValueObject': could not find deserializer for type {http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema}anyType at org.jboss.axis.message.RPCHandler.onStartChild(RPCHandler.java:326) at org.jboss.axis.encoding.DeserializationContextImpl.startElement(DeserializationContextImpl.java:1168) at org.jboss.axis.message.SAX2EventRecorder.replay(SAX2EventRecorder.java:244) at org.jboss.axis.message.SOAPElementAxisImpl.publishToHandler(SOAPElementAxisImpl.java:1386) at org.jboss.axis.message.RPCElement.deserialize(RPCElement.java:262) at org.jboss.axis.message.RPCElement.getParams(RPCElement.java:396) at org.jboss.axis.providers.java.RPCInvocation.prepareFromRequestEnvelope(RPCInvocation.java:235) at org.jboss.axis.providers.java.RPCProvider.processMessage(RPCProvider.java:103) at org.jboss.axis.providers.java.JavaProvider.invoke(JavaProvider.java:358) at org.jboss.axis.strategies.InvocationStrategy.visit(InvocationStrategy.java:73) at org.jboss.axis.SimpleChain.doVisiting(SimpleChain.java:160) at org.jboss.axis.SimpleChain.invoke(SimpleChain.java:123) at org.jboss.axis.handlers.soap.SOAPService.invoke(SOAPService.java:560) at org.jboss.webservice.server.ServerEngine.invokeInternal(ServerEngine.java:200) at org.jboss.webservice.server.ServerEngine.invoke(ServerEngine.java:89) at org.jboss.axis.transport.http.AxisServlet.doPost(AxisServlet.java:905) at javax.servlet.http.HttpServlet.service(HttpServlet.java:717) at org.jboss.axis.transport.http.AxisServletBase.service(AxisServletBase.java:370) at javax.servlet.http.HttpServlet.service(HttpServlet.java:810) at org.apache.catalina.core.ApplicationFilterChain.internalDoFilter(ApplicationFilterChain.java:252) at org.apache.catalina.core.ApplicationFilterChain.doFilter(ApplicationFilterChain.java:173) at org.jboss.web.tomcat.filters.ReplyHeaderFilter.doFilter(ReplyHeaderFilter.java:81) at org.apache.catalina.core.ApplicationFilterChain.internalDoFilter(ApplicationFilterChain.java:202) at org.apache.catalina.core.ApplicationFilterChain.doFilter(ApplicationFilterChain.java:173) at org.apache.catalina.core.StandardWrapperValve.invoke(StandardWrapperValve.java:213) at org.apache.catalina.core.StandardContextValve.invoke(StandardContextValve.java:178) at org.jboss.web.tomcat.security.CustomPrincipalValve.invoke(CustomPrincipalValve.java:39) at org.jboss.web.tomcat.security.SecurityAssociationValve.invoke(SecurityAssociationValve.java:153) at org.apache.catalina.authenticator.AuthenticatorBase.invoke(AuthenticatorBase.java:482) at org.jboss.web.tomcat.security.JaccContextValve.invoke(JaccContextValve.java:59) at org.apache.catalina.core.StandardHostValve.invoke(StandardHostValve.java:126) at org.apache.catalina.valves.ErrorReportValve.invoke(ErrorReportValve.java:105) at org.apache.catalina.core.StandardEngineValve.invoke(StandardEngineValve.java:107) at org.apache.catalina.connector.CoyoteAdapter.service(CoyoteAdapter.java:148)

I read that it should use de HA variant of JRMPInvokerbut I´m not getting it!!. I´m getting connected through 1100 port with no URL_PROVIDER stringso I asume that I´m using HAJNDI. Any suggestion? [JBoss-user] [Advanced Documentation] - deploying aop and spring beans
Folks! I've been strugling for two days now, and I find no way of making this work: A simple web-app with spring-beans. So far, all fine. Ok, so I want to add some advices to some of my spring-beans. Trouble. Ok, I could use spring-aop, but I really want to use Jboss-aop, wich I find much more competent. What really puzzles me it the classloading stuff. In all tutorials of jboss-aop, it says that I could basically drop a xxx-aop.xml in my deploy. (after enabling load-time-weaving in AspectManager). After that I deploy my war. That really doesn't do it for me... So I build an ear, with: /META-INF/application.xml some.aop . . | /META-INF/jboss-aop.xml /META-INF/lib/3pp.jar //spring, log4j etc /mypackage/myClass.class //my own stuff, incl. my aspects, servlets some.war . . | index.jsp /META-INF/web.xml jboss.xml /META-INF/lib/3pp.jar //spring, log4j etc /mypackage/myClass.class //my own stuff, incl. my aspects, servlets so I realize I have duplicated my 3pp's and own stuff. But really, I've tried all combinations of this, and I just can't seem to make it work in all cases, and it seems to me that either no weaving takes place, or if it does, I get in trouble when 3pp's are loaded: javassist.NotFound Does Spring have its own classloading mechanisms that conflicts with jboss-aop? Anyone that could point out a good resource for reading exactly how to package complex builds, how to use the manifest:class-path etc?? regards /Marcus View the original post : http://www.jboss.org/index.html?module=bbop=viewtopicp=3885508#3885508 Reply to the post : http://www.jboss.org/index.html?module=bbop=postingmode=replyp=3885508 --- SF.Net email is sponsored by: Discover Easy Linux Migration Strategies from IBM. Hi, I've got basically the same problem on Ubuntu Linux 5.04 (Hoary). I was having the problem with 4.0.1sp1, so I just installed 4.0.3RC1, and the problem continues. I am using maven 1.0.2 to build. I was not having the problem yesterday (albeit, I was having another problem). I'm not exactly sure why the problem started either... I was fiddling with some files, while trying to fix my last problem (a certain class did not seem to get recompiled or redeployed or just plain didn't get updated upon building it). [JBoss-user] [JBossCache] - TreeCache tuning question
I want to cache a lot of objects of the same type (currently 250,000, probably approaching a million in a year or two). As I understand the way treecache works, if there are any changes on a given node, the entire contents of the node are replicated. If that's true, I probably need to distribute my objects around the tree so that smaller batches are replicated with every update. So I was thinking about using the key of each object to contruct a more unique cache region. Say if the object's key was seattle, I'd store it in the cache region /s/e/a/t or /s/e/a/t/t/l/e or something. The question: With TreeCache, is it more efficient to have a really deep tree with very few objects on each node, or a flatter tree with more objects on each node, and what are the tradeoffs? M. Somewhere on your classpath you have a hibernate.properties file which specifies a value for the 'hibernate.session_factory_name' property. [JBoss-user] [JBossCache] - Re: Stuck configuring TreeCacheAOP - am I missing something?
Well after several days I give. TreeCacheAOP is just impossible for me to get set up given the information available so I'll have to overlook it for now. Hopefully the feedback below will help update the documentation for the next guy: 1) Documentation does a LOT of theory up front and never takes a simple non-bean case as an isolated case of making this architecture work. This makes it impossible to know what all the pieces are and whether or not the process is working. There needs to be a clear, clean - a) here is a class b) here is a jboss-aop.xml c) here is what you need to put in a build script if you on JDK1.4 or 1.5, etc. d) here is a simple TreeCacheAop instantiation with a simple treecache.xml that uses local replication e) here is what you can do to troubleshoot if it doesn't work (for example I know mine is likely related to JbossAOP since its saying that non of my methods match the signature, but damned if I know what to do about it) The docs commit the ultimate sin - no simple HelloWorld level example so you can make sure everything compiles and runs. Without this, you just have a level of complexity from multiple vendor products interacting. The regular TreeCache docs are fine. Page 3 (or section 4) puts up a simple case and explains what's going on in isolation. I can take that code, compile it, and run it and see what's going on. 2) Don't pay simple lip service to annotation, precompilation configuration. You'll have to learn JBossAOP and configuration to even begin to understand TreeCacheAOP and how it operates when a simple explanation of how the ant tasks work is sufficient. 3) If I need a special classpath put that in the configuration section as one ot the steps. 4) The whole documentation should evolve as a series of lessons, not a description of features in action. One shouldn't be at the back of the documentation before you actually get something that at least resembles a lesson/setup 5) If you're going to use magic locations (META-INF/jboss-aop.xml) then you need to log when you didn't find stuff in those locations or if you did. My first pass through the docs say put the jboss-aop.xml file in this location. Cool, okay its not working. Is it finding the file? Is it not liking the file? Is it not liking my OSX environment? What's wrong with it - what should I expect to see if its actually working. I'd love to write a How-To guide to getting this thing set-up. I've done it before for JBoss (I wrote chunks of Jboss docs years ago) and would do it again, but unless you actually understand the system and how it works - the documentation here is just not useful unless you're modifying the toy examples that the documentation and source tree provide. If I have to go digging through unit tests to figure out how stuff works - something is wrong. After going through TreeCacheAop for a few days I have a clear understanding of how it works, and actually understand how I could implement it myself if needed by breaking up the object hierarchy into treepaths in a TreeCache and intercepting the get/set field access and mapping it to methods which update the cache. Its actually a very cool approach - if you can get it to work. Well, I've managed to (sort-of) resolve this problem... I didn't actually figure out what the cause was, but by using an earlier revision of my project, I managed to get things back-to-normal. But, shouldn't JBoss (and/or related components) be able to provide some friendlier, more meaningful error messages? Hi, I am sorry that it is not working out for you. Your suggestions are valuable to me. How about you drop me an email (benwang at jboss dot com)? I will work with you to see where the gaps are. I am sure this will benefit others as well. I do have the plan to revamp the documentation in 1.2.4 release. Just curious. Have you gone through the tutorial for TreeCacheAop? I thought it has a very good example of getting people started.
