[JBoss-user] [Beginners Corner] - Directory Path Mapping in JBoss
I am porting an exisiting web application to J2EE. I have a HTML file which has a JS/Images/CSS file includes (/dir/css/)something like below : In existing system which runs on WindWeb Web server, I have mapping of "/dir" to some physical directory on web server. Now the same I have to achieve on JBoss. It would be better for me if I don't change .html file to .JSP file And I need "/dir" to be mapped to "request.getContextPath()" So that I do not end up in changing all the files. Is there any way to do this? [JBoss-user] [Persistence,JBoss/CMP, Hibernate, Database] - PostgreSQL 8.0 + EJB2.1, bizarre NumberFormatException
I have this weird exceptional problem where I do something really simple and I get a strange NumberFormatException. Can you help explain it? The Cast of Actors: SessionBean: ConfigurationManager EntityBean: Configuration EntityBean: ConfigurationParameter Configuration to ConfigurationManager is a one-to-many relation. The SessionBean must create a Configuration, and then fill it with ConfigurationParameter instances. This seems to work just fine, but every time JBoss acts on giving each ConfigurationParameter an EJBObject reference to the Configuration that contains it, JBoss gives this error: anonymous wrote : java.lang.NumberFormatException: For input string: "Local:60" where "60" is the hidden integer primary key for the Configuration object's row. It seems to be trying to extract a Local hash of a Configuration, but the database driver or JBoss isn't parsing its strings correctly. Although things seem to work for now, it's very early in development and I don't want this to be a serious problem later. Why is it doing this, and how can I fix this? Below is the stack trace of a typical call. Thanks for reading this far! Thank you Darran, proxy.ejb3: | META-INF/ | META-INF/MANIFEST.MF | com/ | com/mycompany/ | com/mycompany/proxy/ | META-INF/jboss.xml | com/mycompany/proxy/DefaultProxy.class | The actual proxy interface is in a jar next to proxy.ejb3, called util.jar: | META-INF/ | META-INF/MANIFEST.MF | com/ | com/mycompany/ | com/mycompany/util/ | com/mycompany/util/Proxy.class | where Proxy is a simple interface with the @Remote annotation. I've been through the tutorial, which is where I got the jboss.xml from. The only other thing I see that would possibly apply is the "JNDI Bindings" section which would unfortunately tie the code itself to JBoss (not that I have anything against JBoss). If possible, I would like to keep anything container-specific in the configuration files. Ok, yes you can access the local interface from the web application. You will have to remote the PortableRemoteObject.narrow as you are not using a portable remote object, you are using a local object. Just cast the looked up object to the local home interface type. Yes with JBoss 4.0.2 and onwards having the interfaces in the lib folder of the war will cause you problems. If you deploy your war packaged within an ear that also contains the jar of the beans, your web application will have access to the interfaces in the jar. When posting problems can you please make sure you post the correct error for the code you are showing. Local interfaces are for use localy within the application server JVM, you can not make use of them from remote clients. You will need to give your bean a home and remote interface and use these from the remote client. [JBoss-user] [Installation, Configuration & Deployment] - Re: why to use jboss.xml ?????
The jboss.xml deployment descriptor is for setting JBoss specific configuration for your deployments, for the values in the jboss.xml JBoss assumes default values if nothing is set. You are not taking advantage of any JBoss specific configuration so you do not need the jboss.xml file so you can safely remove it. [JBoss-user] [JBossCache] - Re: Hibernate/TreeCache/JBoss error
Thanks James, if you could also post up the relevant section of your JBossService.xml file - ie, the transaction section, and if you could tell us if you get it working that would be great. Ps - is it for the hibernate second level cache? If so - watch out for having to turn on the querycache. We ran into that as an issue today. Hi, I have created a custom LoginModule called PasswordLoginModule and I have entered it in the login-config.xml I have added the policy file to the commandline options when starting JBoss in the run.bat. I have the class in a library sitting on default/lib. I am stumped as to why the LoginContext can't instantiate my LoginModule. Any ideas? [JBoss-user] [Security & JAAS/JBoss] - EJB Declarative Security does not work
hello, I'm using JBoss-4.0.1RS1 The EJB declarative security does not work... I have the following entries in the ejb-jar file: | User | | MyEJBHome | * | | Whether or not the user is in the role User, he gains access to the bean. No in the ejb-jar. The security interceptor is in the stack. Any pointers as to what else I can check to fix the problem? [JBoss-user] [Management, JMX/JBoss] - Re: Problem with SAR file
Hello, I understood what the problem was. Sorry for the disturbance. For future readers : The 'defaut' config contains file jbossjca-service.xml which declares the CachedConnectionManager MBean. Furthermore, JBoss deploys sar files BEFORE *-service.xml files. See Wiki. This fully explains why the MBean inside the sar file could not put a dependance on the CachedConnectionManager MBean without an error. I changed my deployment order and made sure that the sar file is deployed last. [JBoss-user] [JNDI/Naming/Network] - Re: JNDI Look up returns null on Hibernate session factory
Ah, just looked at the source code that is attached on that Wiki page and it is wrong. Specifically, two things you need to change in the org.jboss.hibernate.jmx.Hibernate class: 1) in the getProperties() method, remove the line: setUnlessNull(props, Environment.SESSION_FACTORY_NAME, sessionFactoryName); 2) have it take over responsibility for binding and unbinding the session factory itself; use the newer (hibernate-3 based) one as a reference on how to do that. [JBoss-user] [JBossCache] - Clustered TreeCache as Hibernate second level cache - I give
Hi all (especially Bela :-) ), I've spent the following week trying to get TreeCache setup across a two node cluster on JBoss. The two nodes are setup to access a single oracle database. We are using hibernate 2.1 on the two nodes and we wanted to use TreeCache as the second level cache in hibernate. We are trying to meet the following requirements: A) Cache persistent hibernate objects on each JVM B) Maintain cache consistency across the cluster (i.e. updates to database from one node are propagated to the caches on the other nodes, or at a minimum, the caches get invalidated) C) Use SERIALIZABLE transaction isolation level I'll attach our existing configuration files at the bottom, but initially I'd like to discribe the problems that we encountered trying to achieve our goals: Problem 1: we couldn't get simple replication between caches across the two nodes to work properly. The second node when it started up fetched the transient tree status from the first node (using the RpcDelegatingCacheLoader). It then started a read-only transaction (Hibernate flush-mode set to NEVER). Unfortunately, it retrieved everything from the database (instead of the replicated second-level cache ) probably becasue the Hibernate query cache was empty. When it was committing the transaction, the reader blocked indefinately (we got no exception). Looking at the stack of the reader thread we think it was blocking on: RpcDelegatingCacheLoader.delegatePut(...) ie, it was perhaps trying to replicate the local puts. Problem 2: as a consequence of Problem 1, the first node times out and generates the following exception: | 2005-07-20 12:34:33,087 ERROR [org.jgroups.blocks.RpcDispatcher] failed invoking method | org.jboss.util.NestedRuntimeException: - nested throwable: (java.lang.InterruptedException) | at org.jboss.cache.TreeCache.invokeMethod(TreeCache.java:3121) | at org.jboss.cache.TreeCache.put(TreeCache.java:1762) | at sun.reflect.NativeMethodAccessorImpl.invoke0(Native Method) | at sun.reflect.NativeMethodAccessorImpl.invoke(NativeMethodAccessorImpl.java:39) | at sun.reflect.DelegatingMethodAccessorImpl.invoke(DelegatingMethodAccessorImpl.java:25) | at java.lang.reflect.Method.invoke(Method.java:585) | at org.jgroups.blocks.MethodCall.invoke(MethodCall.java:286) | at org.jgroups.blocks.RpcDispatcher.handle(RpcDispatcher.java:236) | at org.jgroups.blocks.RequestCorrelator.handleRequest(RequestCorrelator.java:618) | at org.jgroups.blocks.RequestCorrelator.receiveMessage(RequestCorrelator.java:515) | at org.jgroups.blocks.RequestCorrelator.receive(RequestCorrelator.java:326) | at org.jgroups.blocks.MessageDispatcher$ProtocolAdapter.handleUp(MessageDispatcher.java:734) | at org.jgroups.blocks.MessageDispatcher$ProtocolAdapter.access$300(MessageDispatcher.java:566) | at org.jgroups.blocks.MessageDispatcher$1.run(MessageDispatcher.java:703) | at java.lang.Thread.run(Thread.java:595) | Caused by: java.lang.InterruptedException | at java.lang.Object.wait(Native Method) | at EDU.oswego.cs.dl.util.concurrent.QueuedSemaphore$WaitQueue$WaitNode.doTimedWait(QueuedSemaphore.java:123) | at EDU.oswego.cs.dl.util.concurrent.QueuedSemaphore.attempt(QueuedSemaphore.java:47) | at org.jboss.cache.lock.IdentityLock.acquireReadLock(IdentityLock.java:206) | at org.jboss.cache.Node.acquireReadLock(Node.java:499) | at org.jboss.cache.Node.acquire(Node.java:471) | at org.jboss.cache.interceptors.LockInterceptor.lock(LockInterceptor.java:245) | at org.jboss.cache.interceptors.LockInterceptor.invoke(LockInterceptor.java:153) | at org.jboss.cache.interceptors.Interceptor.invoke(Interceptor.java:41) | at org.jboss.cache.interceptors.CacheLoaderInterceptor.invoke(CacheLoaderInterceptor.java:120) | at org.jboss.cache.interceptors.Interceptor.invoke(Interceptor.java:41) | at org.jboss.cache.interceptors.UnlockInterceptor.invoke(UnlockInterceptor.java:35) | at org.jboss.cache.interceptors.Interceptor.invoke(Interceptor.java:41) | at org.jboss.cache.interceptors.ReplicationInterceptor.invoke(ReplicationInterceptor.java:54) | at org.jboss.cache.interceptors.Interceptor.invoke(Interceptor.java:41) | at org.jboss.cache.interceptors.CacheStoreInterceptor.invoke(CacheStoreInterceptor.java:104) | at org.jboss.cache.TreeCache.invokeMethod(TreeCache.java:3116) | ... 14 more | Here are our configuration files. If you are using and the jar and war are in the same ear you do not need to add the to the jboss-web.xml - Just leave this out and the name of the bean will be used to locate it. Are you getting any other errors on deployment, I have just noticed that you have a number of CMP specific elements within your session bean declaration that should not be there. [JBoss-user] [Management, JMX/JBoss] - Problem with SAR file
Hello, I have trouble setting up a sar file. Please note that I'm not too familiar with these king of deployment file yet. My sar file contains a META-INF/jboss-service.xml file as well as an scheduler_ejb.jar file. The jboss-service.xml file starts a Quartz scheduler (allowing my applications to schedule jobs). Quartz schedules jobs by calling methods of an EJB session bean included in the scheduler-ejb.jar file. Here is the problem: - when I deploy my sar file once JBoss is started, everything goes smoothly - when I start JBoss with the sar file already included in the deploy directory, JBoss throws an exception. Here is the log I receive short after a "Scheduler" session bean is deployed ("Scheduler" being the EJB session bean included in my scheduler-ejb.jar file) : Deploying SchedulerManager | 2005-07-20 11:40:14,718 DEBUG [org.jboss.ejb.EjbModule] Creating WebClassLoader of class org.jboss.web.WebClassLoader | 2005-07-20 11:40:14,828 WARN [org.jboss.ejb.EjbModule] Could not load the org.jboss.resource.connectionmanager.CachedConnectionInterceptor interceptor for this container | javax.management.InstanceNotFoundException: jboss.jca:service=CachedConnectionManager is not registered. | at org.jboss.mx.server.registry.BasicMBeanRegistry.get(BasicMBeanRegistry.java:509) | at org.jboss.mx.server.MBeanServerImpl.getAttribute(MBeanServerImpl.java:533) | at org.jboss.resource.connectionmanager.CachedConnectionInterceptor.(CachedConnectionInterceptor.java:73) | at sun.reflect.NativeConstructorAccessorImpl.newInstance0(Native Method) | .../... This error is obviously linked to the deployment of the EJB jar file. The deployement descriptor of this jar file includes a reference to a JDBC datasource. If I remove the jar file from the sar file and deploy it seperately, no more problem (but I do not want that). Can anyone help me with this dependency problem ? [JBoss-user] [JBossCache] - Re: Clustered Transactional Replicated TreeCache with single
Hi Bela, sorry for not getting back to you sooner on this. We have been busy figuring out what's going on. Firstly, the application we ran is on a two node JBoss cluster where each node has an Updater task and a Reader task which both "update" or "read" the same 1000 entries in the same database table (in oracle). We set the transaction isolation level to be Serializable. We configured the TreeCache to be the second level cache of hibernate. Firstly the problem that we encountered is as follows: One updater task managed to update the entries inside a transaction, however the other one periodically failed with an Oracle "cannot serialize transaction exception". We think the reason for this is as follows: Given two transactions A and B as below transactin A transaction B start A |---| start B |---| When A commits, B may or may not fail (depending on the common data) due to state change. In our case transaction B consistently failed as it was working on the same rows. So I think we now understand what's happening. Thanks for your help. An additional point is that NODESK layout is somewhat hardwired in the portal core. If I do configure the layout by editing the stylesheet I lose it I install a new Version of JBP. [JBoss-user] [Installation, Configuration & Deployment] - Sockets not serviced properly on app side (mod_jk used)
I'm new to this forum. So if I should be posting elsewhere just let me know. We're experiencing timeouts in our web apps. We're using apache with mod_jk to front JBoss. Many of the mod_jk connections get "stuck". Issuing netstat on the JBoss server shows dozens of port 8009 ajp13 connections that are in an Established state with data in the "Receive Queue" but the data never gets handled by JBoss. These same connections just stay put with the same data in the receive queue for hours and days. And the connections get used up so there are no threads left to service inbound connections. Here's our version list: *Apache httpd-2.0.46-44.ent (on RHEL) *Jakart Tomcat Connectors ver. 1.2.10 and 1.2.12 (both tried with same results) *jboss-4.0.2 workers.properties is: # Define Node1 worker.app1.port=8009 worker.app1.host=app1.testbed.com worker.app1.type=ajp13 worker.app1.lbfactor=1 worker.app1.socket_timeout=1 worker.app1.cache_timeout=1 # Define Node2 worker.app2.port=8009 worker.app2.host=app2.testbed.com worker.app2.type=ajp13 worker.app2.lbfactor=1 worker.app2.socket_timeout=1 worker.app1.cache_timeout=1 # Load-balancing behaviour worker.loadbalancer.type=lb worker.loadbalancer.balanced_workers=app1,app2 #worker.loadbalancer.sticky_session=0 worker.loadbalancer.sticky_session=1 #worker.loadbalancer.local_worker_only=1 worker.loadbalancer.socket_timeout=1 worker.loadbalancer.cache_timeout=1 worker.list=loadbalancer, status # Status worker for managing load balancer worker.status.type=status Relevant Apache config: ServerName www.testbed.com DocumentRoot /var/vhosts/testbed.com/httpdocs ErrorLog /var/vhosts/testbed.com/logs/error_log CustomLog /var/vhosts/testbed.com/logs/access_log common ServerAdmin [EMAIL PROTECTED] JkMount /nhd/*.html loadbalancer JkMount /nhd-dev/*.html loadbalancer JkMount /1v7xbjt23/* status Not sure what other conf files can be of use. Any suggestions? THIS JUST IN: We have moved to Apache 2.0.54 with mod_jk 1.2.14. For now the connections are no longer getting stuck. Can anyway confirm this is a good version combination? Should this continue to work well? Thanks. I solve my problem. I find how to do that. I leave here my solution, because this could help other people. 1- Create a session bean that implements Schedulable. 2- Implements the method "perform" and put there the code to be executed by Scheduler 3- create a jboss-service.xml and put this file in a sar file. One extract of Jboss-service.xml: | | true | pt.link.clientCentralServer.businessLogic.session.CaptureInformationClientFacadeSession | NOW | 2000 | | -1 | View the original post : http://www.jboss.org/index.html?module=bb&op=viewtopic&p=3885649#3885649 Reply to the post : http://www.jboss.org/index.html?module=bb&op=posting&mode=reply&p=3885649 --- SF.Net email is sponsored by: Discover Easy Linux Migration Strategies from IBM. By default, this should be server-name:8080/ServletName For Example localhost:8080/Fibo/ for the Tutorial But I think you can change that with some config Files, which I assume you haven't done. You can also see what the web-console tells you. Try localhost:8080/web-console/ and have a look at Monitor, Web Status, Full Status. There's a list of all web-mappings a bit further down.
