[JBoss-user] [Beginners Corner] - Re: EJB Behind Firewall

2005-12-22 Thread fatfifth
Hi Scott,

I appreciate your response. The documentation was the first place that I
searched for an answer. However, the docs indicate how to use JBoss behind a
firewall by indicating which ports need to be opened.
I don't have the option to open up ports so I am wondering, is there a good
how-to on enabling a tunnel over https with JBoss. I have yet to come across
one.

Thanks for your time.

Raoul

..thanks, but I guess that doesn't really answer the question

Would someone from the JBoss development team or community please
clarify this for me or atleast provide a link to some useful information( or
recommend a book that specifically addresses this problem)?

Thanks in advance

Raoul

[JBoss-user] [Beginners Corner] - EJB Behind Firewall

2005-12-16 Thread fatfifth
Hello All,

Problem:

Rich client needs to call ejb which is behind a firewall. Opening up ports is
not an option.

Could someone please suggest a reference that explains how this is done using
JBoss or alternative tools.

Thanks in advance,

Raoul

[JBoss-user] [Security & JAAS/JBoss] - JBoss JAAS Issues

2005-09-21 Thread fatfifth
Hello

This is a two part question regarding the way JAAS is implemented in JBoss:

1.) Is it possible to store and load role definitions to and form a database
table, rather than in the ejb-jar file? I find the use of XML files to be very
limiting in the sense that role mapping can't be defined in a dynamic way at
runtime(please correct me if I'm wrong).

2.) Is it possible to map roles to Non-EJB specific methods? I am using the
Command pattern in a client/server app which employs a single session bean that
processes the command objects. This setup is extremely flexible(so far) and has
resulted in a very light-weight and refreshingly xml-free configuration.
However, I'm not sure how to take advantage of JBoss JAAS authorization, in
order to enforce permissions on each command.

Any advice would be appreciated!

Regards,

Raoul
