[JBoss-user] [Installation, Configuration & Deployment] - JBoss development on Intel based macs...

2006-04-28 Thread tbauer
I have been developing and running my business application on Mac OS X for year
(G4 and G5), but now my CEO wants to purchase one of the new MacBook Pro's and
wants to run it on that. I usually just copy my compile EAR files over to his
maching and he runs in on localhost.

My question is, is there a different version of JBoss (I am using 3.2.5) for
the Intel based Mac, and would my code, compiled on G4 laptop, work if I just
copied it over?

Any help would be greatly appreciated...

2004-07-06 Thread tbauer
Scott, the jbossha.jar that shipped with 3.2.4 had serious bugs. Bela supposedly
fixed it and gave us a link to just download jbossha.jar so we could replace the one
that came with 3.2.4.

I was hoping that 3.2.5 had this fix in it... Other people, other threads, are
reporting same/different issues and people suggest upgrading to jgroups 2.2.5...where
do I get that?? And will it cure the problems we have been having??

BTW, in review of dozens of responses in THIS forum, I'd say I'm not the one with the

my configuration is correct, so I'm wondering if this is a JBoss problem with that

When using JB3.2.3 jetty my request logs (as well as server.log) used to be in the

Where does Tomcat put the request log?? Is there some parameter in the tomcat 5 .xml

[JBoss-user] [HTTPD, Servlets & JSP] - Re: Deployment errors when 2nd of 2 apps starts to deploy in

2004-05-28 Thread tbauer
Okay, I got that part with the EAR figured out, but what about a SAR. I have a
schedulable MBean in a SAR that calls stateful session beans deployed in my EAR. I
scoped the EAR with success, but when the SAR is deployed it throws errors because it
can't find the home interface of the session bean...I did try putting a jboss-app.xml
file in the META-INF directory of the SAR, but that did not work.

Any help would be appreciated...

Thanks so much...

Well, as usual I spoke too soon..

I followd the Isolation example on the URL given above.

In jboss.xml, for each application (just changed the name)

icsboomerang.com:loader=ICS_BIS

Get the same problem as before, except that I also get:

[JBoss-user] [HTTPD, Servlets & JSP] - Re: Deployment errors when 2nd of 2 apps starts to deploy in

2004-05-26 Thread tbauer
This IS reproducable on my dev machine. Here's what else I found out...

I have 2 application .ear files both in the server/all/deploy directory.
The deployment happens by alpha, so asponline.ear deployed before
icsboomerang.ear...and for some reason I get those bogus deployment errors when
icsboomerang.ear tries to deploy.

If I rename asponline.ear to x_asponline.ear, which enables icsboomerang.ear to deploy
FIRST, then everything is fine and there are no deployment errorsIf this is an
configuration problem, then I need to learn that...otherwise, this is unacceptable...

Any clues why this would happen??

[JBoss-user] [HTTPD, Servlets & JSP] - Deployment errors when 2nd of 2 apps starts to deploy in /jb

2004-05-26 Thread tbauer
I have an appserver running 3.2.4RC2 (all config). If I only deploy 1 or my 2
applications, it works fine. But the minute I try to start the server that has two
.ear files, the second one starts to throw very strange/bogus deployment errors.

the errors are:
Warning: The methods defined in the remote interface must have a matching method in
the bean's class with the same name and same number and types of arguments.

These errors cause deployment to fail...My remote interfaces ARE declared properly...

BTW, these exact same applications deploy perfectly in 3.2.3Jetty

Any clues from the genius bar

Never mind...I think this must be either a configuration problem, or a file got
clobbered when copying over to this server.

I have another identical xserve running the exact same versions of jboss and java and
it works fine...

Will have to make sure some file wasn't abnormally truncated or something during
copy...

sorry for the alarm...

[JBoss-user] [Installation & Configuration] - Problem deploying JB3.2.4RC2 on MacOS X Server 10.2.8

2004-05-25 Thread tbauer
I have an application ear that compiles and deploys perfectly under MacOS X 10.3.3
(java 1.4.2_03), but when I copied the whole deployment folders to a proudction server
that is running Mac OS X Server 10.2.8 (java 1.4.1_01), i get the following errors
during ear deployment:

2004-05-24 23:23:34,537 WARN [org.jboss.ejb.EJBDeployer.verifier] EJB spec violation:
Bean : ShiftManagerBean
Method : public abstract void removeShift(ShiftModel, boolean, int) throws
RemoteException, FinderException
Section: 7.10.5
Warning: The methods defined in the remote interface must have a matching method in
the bean's class with the same name and same number and types of arguments.

I'm not sure where the hell the removeShift(ShiftModel, boolean, int) is
coming from...it is declared properly in the bean and the remote interfaces as:
removeShift(ShiftModel, boolean, int, boolean)

There are dozens of these

I can't update the java version on the production server, because I would need to
update to Mac OS X Server 10.3 which is very costly

Anyone have an idea what is going on??

Thanks Bela...I will try these changes...

I have met you before at a BootCamp in SF...I'm in awe at people like you and
Sasha...I can only hope to understand this stuff 10% of what
you do...

Also, I have a scheduler MBean that calls a logger based on
org.jboss.logging.Logger... it no longer works in 3.2.4FC2 ...

log.info(" "); no longer displays anything on the console log???why??

[JBoss-user] [Clustering/JBoss] - Jgroups in 3.2.4RC2 ?? How to turn off logging?!?!?!

2004-05-17 Thread tbauer
Once again, jgroups is acting up. Why is it that every time you guys release a new
dot-dot release that thing change so much that existing configurations stop working as
before...

1. Why do you NEVER give a good example of using TCP in the cluster-service.xml
file...UDP is lame, and probably used in production environments. Every time I get
TCP to work, you change something that make it stop working in subsequent versions.

2. The documentation on the javagroups (jgroup.org) site is 2 YEARS out of
date...PLEASE UPDATE IT, if you want people to be able to use jgroups. I have in the
past paid for a doc subscription, but found that 3 or 4 doc releases every year (and
always months behind) is not helpful .

3. How the heck do a turn off the REAMS of information coming out of
FIND_INITIAL_MBRS ???

I'll submit a bug about the /bin/run.sh parameter, but hopefully someone from JBoss
Group could do some testing of JB3.2.3 (with and without Jikes) using OS X 10.3.2 and
java 1.4.2...

Since JBoss is also distributed with the Apple Developer package, I'll also contact
some friends inside Apple to see if they have encountered this problem or know about
it...

Can't rely on this version(3.2.3 with Tomcat) until someone steps up to the plate with
some answers.

I've tried to configure the HANamingService in cluster-service.xml several ways, but I
always get an error saying java.net.SocketException: Not a multicast address

What SHOULD a valid multicast address be??

config snippet from cluster-service.xml:

 jboss:service=DefaultPartition

DefaultPartition

0

1100

50

adsl-63-193-224-220.dsl.snfc21.pacbell.net
