[JBoss-user] [Tomcat, HTTPD, Servlets JSP] - Re: AJP, Apache, Tomcat SSL question

2006-06-26 Thread tim.cockle
Hi,

I am looking to set up my application so that Apache handles the SSL and Tomcat
uses AJP to comunicate the data. I need away for requests to HTTP to be
redirected to HTTPS to stop the user from accidentally using an insecure pipe.
Did you find any helpfull links when you looked into your problem?

Many thanks,
Tim

[JBoss-user] [Persistence, JBoss/CMP, Hibernate, Database] - Migration Woes...

2006-06-08 Thread tim.cockle
Hi,

I am moving my application from an old 3.2.1 server over to the 4.0.4 (at
last). There is an odd behavior that I could do with some help on. I actually
think I have worked out why but I think it indicates that I am missing
something big here which could have a knock on effect. I haven't had much luck
of the forum before (not sure if my descriptions are not good enough or just
that no one has a clue) but I am hopping that there is some one out there who
can explain what is going on!

In my application I have an entity bean called Session, it represents a
workshop / creche session
When 3.2.1. it all works fine. However, when I deploy of 4.0.x the follow
observations can be made
1.You can get a SessionLocal via the SessionLocalHome.create()
2.You can see the primary key of the Session bean in the logs (for example 101)
3.You can not see the row in the database
4.If you try to add a person to the session via a foreign key it fails because
the primary key does not exist

I changed the name of the session table to managed_session on the hunch that
?Session? was some how conflicting and now it all works fine.

Can anyone out there please give a little more explanation to what is happening
here?!?!

Thanks in advance

Tim

Right now it is an up hill battle!

Thanks

Well try:
http://docs.jboss.org/ejb3/embedded/embedded-tutorial/test-with-junit/

Also look at:
http://docs.jboss.org/ejb3/embedded/embedded.html

Not that I can get it to work!
[javac] symbol  : method scanClasspath()
[javac] location: class org.jboss.ejb3.embedded.EJB3StandaloneBootstrap
[javac] EJB3StandaloneBootstrap.scanClasspath();
[javac] ^

It looks like the EJB3StandaloneBootstrap class is old and does not support the
scanClasspath(). I am currently tring to get the current src from CVS and
create my the new binaries.

Let me know if you have any luck.

Tim

[JBoss-user] [EJB 3.0] - Problem with embedded EJB3 and JUnit tutorial

2006-03-01 Thread tim.cockle
Hi all,

I have down loaded the EJB3 JUnit tutorial (from
http://docs.jboss.org/ejb3/embedded/embedded-tutorial/test-with-junit/) but I
seem to have and error. I am guessing it there is a version problem as I get
the following:
compile:
[javac] Compiling 1 source file to
/home/tim/workspace/jboss4junittest/build/classes
[javac]
/home/tim/workspace/jboss4junittest/src/code/org/jboss/tutorial/junit/EmbeddedEjb3TestCase.java:74:
 cannot find symbol
[javac] symbol  : method scanClasspath()
[javac] location: class org.jboss.ejb3.embedded.EJB3StandaloneBootstrap
[javac] EJB3StandaloneBootstrap.scanClasspath();
[javac] ^
[javac] Note:
/home/tim/workspace/jboss4junittest/src/code/org/jboss/tutorial/junit/EmbeddedEjb3TestCase.java
 uses unchecked or unsafe operations.
[javac] Note: Recompile with -Xlint:unchecked for details.
[javac] 1 error

Does anyone know why this happens and how to solve it?

[JBoss-user] [Security JAAS/JBoss] - No method permissions assigned to method=create, interface=L

2005-10-25 Thread tim.cockle
Hi all, I hope you can help, I have been stuck on the same problem for a day
now

I am using Jboss 3.2.1, middlegen and Xdoclet.

I have a set of entity beans and a few session beans. I have created a session
bean with a remote interface that is used by a remote client.

The client logs on using the logincontext then uses the remote interface of a
session bean to preform a series of tasks. Basically this will be:
Look for a Person Entity Bean
Create a new Diary Entity Bean

I use Xdoclet to secure the session bean by adding the following to the
different method comments:
 *  @ejb.permission role-name=pda_user
 *  view-type=remote

And use middlegen ?cmp20-ALL-class-comments.txt? to add the following to the
entity beans
 *
 * @ejb.permission unchecked=true
 *

The client logs in fine,
It access the session bean
The session bean uses the PersonLocalHome interface to search for a person
(this will not work if I remove the middlegen comments)
The sesson bean user the PersonLocal interface to access the person's name

However, when the session tries to call create() from DiaryLocalHome I get:
java.lang.SecurityException: No method permissions assigned to method=create,
interface=LOCALHOME

Sounds like you need to set up the jaas.conf / auth.conf files. I have not used
this example though so can't be of much help.

you should have one in client/auth.conf

I had this problem when setting up a remote client I found this helpfull:

Good luck
