As of yet, I haven't got a clue.

Please try a post in the Javassist user forum, maybe they can help out.

There is no definition in the specification on how to bind a bean to a specific

Yes, it is possible to generate an interface ( / remote proxy) with only the
public methods expesed. But it would be nameless and leave the client clueless.
You could get to the methods via introspection, but then you're shifting the
complexity to the client side.

It would be easy to create a tool to generate an interface before compilation.
Look at Eclipse (select a class, Refactor -> Extract Interface...)

It appears to be a version conflict.

I've install JBoss IDE 1.5.1 with JBoss Embeddable EJB3 ALPHA 8 patch 2. With
some tweaking in Eclipse it works. The problem you have doesn't show up at all.

Maybe your classpath contains conflicting jars.

If you take a look at your run configuration -> Classpath it should contain:
- your project
- JRE System Library
- hibernate-all.jar
- jboss-ejb3-all.jar
- thirdparty-all.jar
- conf
(from the embeddable dir)

If it contains more, start scraping.

2004-06-17 Thread wolfc
"[EMAIL PROTECTED]" wrote :

I disagree, when I do an import org.domain.SomeObject (and use it) it will be loaded
by the currentClassLoader, not by the contextClassLoader. So in effect jdom uses
saxpath as an import / hard depency. Nothing wrong with that.

IMHO the forest of UCLs is the problem. (or is that a flock? :-) )

Of one thing I'm sure: jBoss should not expose jdom.jar to deployed applications.

Don't get me wrong I like the UCL forest.
Ah I think I'm beginning to see the start of the tunnel:
- A.ear gets deployed
- B.ear wants to use interfaces
- either via same class loader to avoid class cast ex, or through marshalling which is
slow
thus JBoss puts it all on one heap / loader repository.

The last part is not the way I preffer it.
What if:
- A.ear gets deployed
- B.ear gets deployed
both with hierarchical repositories which can access children.
Then A would load from (in order of priority) (very much simplified):
- server/test/deploy/A.ear/lib
- server/test/lib (parent)
- server/test/deploy/B.ear (siblings of parent)
- lib (parent)
- server/other/lib (siblings of parent)

This way jdom will get exposed but at a very late stage.

lol, you should set the enviroment size to maximum (it's on one of the shortcut

It should come up reasonably fine. If you start deploying you'll again run into either
the environment problem or the limited path sizes of w98.
Anyway you should really be running a production environment under Linux or some
commercial Unix variant.
I haven't tried it since ages, but it'll be a good laugh if you can get it going.

As a workaround I did:
SELECT OBJECT(fr) FROM Film f, FilmRental fr, Principal p WHERE p.id = ?1 AND
fr.location MEMBER OF p.locations AND fr.year = ?2 AND fr.week = ?3 AND fr.film = f
ORDER BY f.name ASC

[JBoss-user] [Persistence & CMP/JBoss] - Missing join in SQL query with EJB-QL ORDER BY clause (jBoss

2004-06-01 Thread wolfc
The following jBoss-QL query (jBoss 3.2.2):
SELECT OBJECT(fr) FROM FilmRental fr, Principal p WHERE p.id = ?1 AND fr.location
MEMBER OF p.locations AND fr.year = ?2 AND fr.week = ?3 ORDER BY fr.film.name ASC

results in the following SQL query:
SELECT t0_fr.film_num, t0_fr.location_num, t0_fr.weeknum, t0_fr.year,
t8_fr_film.film_name FROM filmrental t0_fr, principals t1_p, film t8_fr_film, location
t4_fr_location WHERE (t1_p.principalid = ? AND EXISTS (SELECT
t3_p_locations_RELATION_TABLE.location_num FROM principal_location
t3_p_locations_RELATION_TABLE WHERE
t1_p.principalid=t3_p_locations_RELATION_TABLE.principalid AND
t4_fr_location.location_num=t3_p_locations_RELATION_TABLE.location_num) AND t0_fr.year
= ? AND t0_fr.weeknum = ? AND t0_fr.location_num=t4_fr_location.location_num) ORDER BY
t8_fr_film.film_name ASC

For some reason table filmrental t0_fr is not joined with film t8_fr_film.
Can someone shed some light on this?

Thx

[JBoss-user] [Persistence & CMP/JBoss] - QL parser ignores spaces

2004-05-07 Thread wolfc
jBoss 3.2.2
jBoss 3.2.3

The following will not work:

  | SELECT es.dateFrom FROM EventSeq es
  | org.jboss.ejb.plugins.cmp.ejbql.ParseException: Encountered "FROM" at line 1,
column 20.
  | Was expecting one of:
  | "IN" ...
  | ...
  |
While the following does work:

  | SELECT es.dateFrm FROM EventSeq es
  |
Feature or bug?
