Try opening the ear file with WinZip or similiar program. If winzip complains that the file cannot be opened, then the file is probably corrupted and you should deploy another working copy of that file. If the file is not corrupted, sometimes happened to me that the temp files of previous deployments interfered some way with the new deployment, so another thing you can try is to delete all temp files (with JBoss stopped).
