Which JDK do you use??
Could it be, that you have installed different Versions??
Check in Console with:
java -version
If Environment-Variable JAVA_HOME is set to a different version of JDK as 
Eclispe uses, this should be the Problem!

InitialContext simply checks if a JNDI-Object exists. 
Whether there is no a new is instantiated (using the props) otherwise the 
existing returned.
