If you read the getting started guide, you will see that it is written against update 4 of the tutorial not version 5. In the past I tried to update the getting started guide with each Sun release, but since we can't bundle the sun examples this causes endless confusion. 90% of the issues here are people using the wrong version. The getting started guide as it exists now will be abandoned in favor of a new getting started guide that doesn't depend on sun code. In the mean time, please use the version of the tutorial code that the getting started guide points you to.
