Yes they are. JBoss is a full, J2EE certified middleware platform. OpenEJB is 
merely an EJB container, nothing more. The two cannot really be even compared.

Is the EJB Container of JBOSS based on Open EJB EJB Container? If no then is 
there any reason for having two different stream of development in the Open
