For what it's worth I thought I'd pass this on. I recently downloaded the new jboss beta with tomcat for Windows (we are running Win 2000) from sourceforge.net for evaluation purposes. Having unzipped the file and set up the environment variables etc., the JBoss was still not running properly, although http://localhost:8082/ did successfully bring up the Agent View page. The JBoss loading would hang at these messages on the console: INFO [Default] Server 1.6 is running INFO [Default] Press [Ctrl]+[C] to abort However, once we removed cluster-service.xml from the \deploy directory, JBoss worked fine. Infuriatingly we subsequently put cluster-service.xml back into the directory to see if there was any impact and it worked just fine, so I'm not sure of the nature of the problem. Hope this saves somebody else the hours of tearing your hair out that I spent....
