From 3.2.2. (some RC release) there is something like <insert-after-ejb-post-create/>. You can use this tag to define your own container config that extends the standard CMP 2.x Entity Bean config. After that JBoss should issue the insert after ejbPostCreate and NOT NOLL FK columns shouldn't be a problem any longer. I haven't tried it myself, but I assume it should work.
