RE: [JBoss-user] jboss on start up

2001-07-15 Thread Richard Bottoms

Just wait 'till the 6.1 kernel comes out; it's gonna be sweet!

Un Huh.

Now, does any have the same problem of the JBoss daemon script running, but
the
program not actually starting. I am running Red Hat Linux 6.1. I have chosen
not to upgrade the kernel beyond 2.2.12-20 because the system is stable and
I've had no problems.

However, for the smart alecks you can find an excellent tutorial on kernel
upgrade for Red Hat here:

Upgrading the Linux Kernel on Red Hat Linux systems
http://www.redhat.com/support/docs/howto/kernel-upgrade/kernel-upgrade.html

I've used it before on other Linux boxen I manage.

So when you're though laughing, would someone mind addressing the question.

Please.

In short, there is no Linux 6.1. There is a RedHat Linux
distribution that has a 6.1 version

That's what the RH refers to:

I'm running RH Linux 6.1.

Thanks,

Still hoping for an answer. Has anyone found a runlevel or other setup to

Linux 6.1? Are you our visitor from the future?

With redhat, you'd probably put jboss in runlevel 3 if you boot to
console or runlevel 5 if you boot to X.

RE: [JBoss-user] jboss on start up

2001-07-13 Thread Maraya Michael

[whoosh] -- the sound a joke makes when it goes over one's head

The Linux version is meant to refer to the kernel version, not the
version of the operating system distribution. The current Linux kernel
version is 2.4.x, as far as I know. There are several distributions of the
GNU/Linux operating system, and they have their own versioning. Debian has
2.3 coming up, SuSE has 7.2 and RedHat has 7.x.

You can't omit the distribution name part if you're try to refer to
that distribution's version.

In short, there is no Linux 6.1. There is a RedHat Linux
distribution that has a 6.1 version, but there is no Linux kernel version
6.1 (yet). Unless, as the joke said, you are a visitor from the future.
