2001-10-21 Thread Shashank

Hi !

If I am editing a java source file. and then try to compile it
Control( c v c)

the modeline shows File with same name but number 2 . meaning it opens
up second buffer with same name and all changes are affected in this new

yes... I shared the same feelings.

It does look like there is an emacs-21.1 on ftp://ftp.gnu.org/pub/emacs

The only problem is that in CVS the HEAD version is 21.1.50 but this may just be
that they releases from a branch.

I have been playing with intellisens type completion using tooltips. The only
problem is that Emacs doesn't provide positional (x, y) information for the
point.

Hopefully I could find some way around this.

Probably because on NT jde-ant is running "ant.bat".

There has been some talk about running 'java' directly (but again this could
bring up a command prompt).

Hm... yet another reason to install Linux. :)

jde-ant and fast ms-dos window

2001-10-21 Thread Larry Strollo

When I use ant to build within the JDE, a msdos window pops up, the build
happens, and then the msdos window goes away and I have no idea what
happened.

Is there some setup for putting the output of the ant command into some
emacs buffer (the compilation buffer?) ?

Seems like this would be a FAQ, but I couldn't find anything in the ant
related customizations, or in the archives.

I could not find Emacs 21 or an official announcement as to its availability via the
link you posted. So I am sceptical that it is really available for general release.
Also, please note that tooltips and the toolbar features of Emacs 21 were not
available on the latest alpha release of the Windows version of Emacs 21, which I
have. I do not intend to create any JDE features that depend on Emacs 21 features that

emacs 21 is out.
It includes tooltips and many other new features we could use in jde.

Ah. Must not have paid attention.

In this case the difference would be that beanshell-startup.el

- - starts up bsh right after Emacs is loaded.

- - if the bsh is shut down for some reason, it is started back up again. (this
was a problem I had for a long time).

ECB 1.51 released

2001-10-21 Thread Jesper Nordenberg

ECB, Emacs Code Browser, version 1.51 is now available at:

http://home.swipnet.se/mayhem/ecb.html

ECB is a source code browser that displays directories, source files,
methods and variables that can be navigated using the mouse (and
keyboard). It supports parsing of Java, C, C++ and Elisp source
code. It is completely written in Emacs Lisp and uses semantic to
parse source files.

New features and bug fixes in this release:

- Now the names of all ECB buffers begin with a SPC per
  default. (Klaus)

- ECB now can handle not only full but also partial buffer reparsing
if done by semantic and other tools (e.g. JDE >= 2.2.9). The method
buffer will always be uptodate if for a major-mode auto. reparsing
after buffer changes is enabled (the auto. buffer reparsing itself
is not an ECB feature but must be supplied by the major-mode,
  e.g. JDE). (Klaus)

- Incremental node-search in the ECB-buffers now uses the value of
  `case-fold-search'. (Klaus)

- Complete new customization of the ECB-keybindings. The option
`ecb-prefix-key' has been removed. There is one new option
`ecb-key-map' where you can customize all keysettings of ECB
  (including a common prefixkey). (Klaus)

- ecb-add-source-path and ecb-delete-source-path now ask if saving
should be done for future sessions (Klaus).

- Added new navigator functionality. Makes it easy to go to the back
and forward in navigated tokens and buffers. See ecb-nav-goto-next
  and ecb-nav-goto-previous. (Jesper)

- Added an option to narrow the buffer to the token that is jumped
  to. See ecb-token-jump-narrow. (Jesper)

- Fixed a small bug that placed the window start at the beginning of
the token instead of the beginning of the token line. (Jesper)

Contributions, suggestions and bug reports are welcome! Please send
them to the public mailing list:

What is the issue? Also, I don't think the SunSite Denmark mail programs send probes.
At least I can't recall getting any. If this is a problem for you, you'll have to take

Anyone with knowledge on how to have syntax-highlighting in the buffer used

It could be nice to have the correct colors while completing (it would be
easier to get an overivew of the completion possibilities)
