2001-09-19 Thread Justin Mecham

Actually the entire source for Jogger (both the Perl server component
and the PHP frontend) are available from CVS (module "jogger" on
cvs.jabber.org). I should really add instructions to the About page I
guess :)

[JDEV] Need help choosing a name for my apps!

2001-09-19 Thread Brian Lalor

I know this is lame, but I'm tired and out of ideas.

Over the course of the last couple of months, I've banged out a pretty
good start on a web logger and supporting libraries. The primary
technologies (protocols? whatever.) in use are XML-RPC and Jabber. So
far. The server's written in PHP with the xmlrpc-epi library. I've got
two base client classes written in both PHP and Python. I've got a
working Jabber->web logger transport (not really a transport, but close
enough for now).

I've got a couple of damn cool projects which I think a lot of people
would really jump on and be willing to contribute back to, but NO NAMES
FOR THEM!!! :-)

The ones y'all are already thinking of are, of course, Blogger and Jogger,
because I've (kind-of) re-implemented those two projects. The difference
is that I really want to release the source for mine, and that doesn't
seem to be the intent of the folks who wrote Blogger and Jogger. I'm not
knocking them for that decision, by the way, but I did use them as
inspiration for my own forays.

jabber, python, php, xml-rpc, web logger, pear. Those are the
tools/technologies I've put to work here. Got a few p's in there:
plogger? My name's Brian Lalor; BLogger? (nah. :^) Xilog/Xylog came to
mind, but a google search comes back with hits for those...

A name's the only thing keeping me from putting these up on SourceForge!
I might even be able to put together a small monetary donation to the
person who comes up with a name I use!

Does the Jabber server shut down automatically if nobody remains connected
for a set period of time? Or is it my server automatically shutting down

[JDEV] Ok, where is the stock report service?

2001-09-19 Thread hhager

Hey All!

Are there any plans at large within the jabber community, for some of these
simple personalization/UI services? I am sure we could name a few that
would not be too hard to hack out, and god knows the XML-RPC bits are being
eagerly discussed enough to warrant some services. I think its time
jabber.org start serving up some content, aside from everyone's personal
logs (or blogs). I for one am going to be psyched as jabber gets real for
joe user. Any jabber clients that are doing this right now ?

PS
I must be honest, the only reason I use MSN is for the stocks tab... and it
works like 10% of the time (those jokers)! This could get jabber a good
opportunity to roll in some features and get a little bit of a slither of
more market share.

Oh well, just a cheer for the team I guess...

[JDEV] ICQ Problem

2001-09-19 Thread Amarnath Yara

Hi All, I have noticed that after I register successfuly with ICQ Transport
my ICQ buddies can see me online and I can send/receive messages to/from
them. At this stage I dont get the ICQ buddies presence (which ofcourse is
normal).
After this if I add my ICQ buddies to jabber roster and subscribe presence
to them. From then on I get the Online notifications of my ICQ buddies but I
cannot send messages to them. I receive any messages sent by ICQ Buddies,
but the ones I am sending are not received by them. I am using my own client
which works well with MSN, YAHOO with transports. I have ICQ Transport-0.9
on my Jabber Server1-4. Any suggestions are welcome. Thanks in advance.

[JDEV] Status Changes through Transports

2001-09-19 Thread Amarnath Yara

Hi All, I have observed that status changes of buddies on Yahoo and MSN
Messengers propogate through Transports and can be received by the jabber
client. But if I change the status on jabber platform, jabber buddies
receive the change of status. But the same is not going through transports.
Is this something that is not being implemented in the Transports (MSN, ICQ,
Yahoo)? Thanks in advance

I don't know anything about the JabberBeans API, but at the very least you can run the string through an XML parser and get the various elements, from which it's quite easy to get the attributes of the messages. JabberBeans must include or require an XML parser, so you already have one lying around...

It is intended for to be in with messages, presence, any thing

[JDEV] jabberbeans: parsing XML from a file

2001-09-19 Thread tom Bailly-salins

Could anyone tell me how I could read Jabber messages stored in
their XML format from a local file (like an Inbox).

How can I go from an XML String (representing a message + extensions)
written in a file to a jabberbeans Message Object that I use in my code?

Thanks a million

Re: [JDEV] Re: Client and server on same machine , problem ?

2001-09-19 Thread Yuan John Jiang

Where can I find documentation on the structure and design of the server?
I'm trying to write a (Solaris) PAM authetication module to work with jud.
Where should I look?

BTW, I can't start the server jabberd in daemon mode. Do I miss something
in the make process?

Thanks,

John

RE: [JDEV] Conference messages cut off at newlines, too

2001-09-19 Thread Benoit Orihuela

hi,

> I thought that the new conferencing code was done a while back?
> Anyone know what the status of the new conferencing is?
if you are speaking of the new jcf, its code is in the cvs of
jabber.org.
I gonna update it this afternoon. I tried to make a generic version
but after trying to adapt it to text conferences, irc and sms
conferences, I realized that it was not possible to completely
separate all that is protocol specific. so I've gone back to a
non-generic implementation (which works quite well even if all of the
features are not yet implemented) ...

regards,

Benoit.
