Yes I have a SIP service (vocal from www.vovida.org). The stack of this
platform support messages for Presence but the platform don't have the
service of presence or IM implemented. The goal is not to create this
service but to use jabber to make this service.

No. It doesn't even properly handle UTF-8 characters (it is strage as
whole Java string handling is based on Unicode). I hacked the code a bit
so UTF-8 works, but the code is broken anyway and should whole be rewritten.

One: JabberApplet sucks :-(

If you manage to compile all the classes it means the dependencies are
satisfied. The easiest way is to compile all of them together (hint:
"find" helps).

[JDEV] JabberApplet stability

2002-04-03 Thread Alper Tarhan

Anyone out there using the JabberApplet effectively
? Is it stable enough to be
used ?

I have tried the prebuilt JabberApplet.jar version
from sourceforge, it worked for a while but could not get it work
again.
It keeps giving 'Problems informing the jabber
server about our presence'.
I used to see my server's FQDN on the 'New Account'
window at first, but afterwards it is replaced by -host-.
And then it started to fail. Any
ideas?

I have also built it from the source and it seems
to work. But everytime I do that, i get a different sized .jar file
!

As far as I understand, the classes have
dependecies so you should compile them in the correct order.

Or you should compile them all together at once! Am
I right? Any difference?
I use jdk1.3 by the way and I am not into java much, but i am willing to work on it.

Also look at a script called cvs2cl.pl (cvs-to-changelog) -- although I
don't have the location of the script, it should turn up in a google
search. It combines the cvs log data into one large changelog
like you might see in other projects.

Re: [JDEV] jabberd cvs changelog

There are some worthy tools for turning the "cvs log" output into
ChangeLogs (cvs2cl.pl), as well as for making nice web pages complete
with links into the cvsweb diffs (cvs2html).

I've attached a gzipped version of the ChangeLog for jabberd14 as an
example. It is current as of a few minutes ago :)

CVS checkin logs hardly detail the exact changes made like common

CVS does this for us, just type "cvs log filename" to get the history of
changes for that file. Or check out the archives at

[JDEV] js_user problem/leak

2002-04-03 Thread Glenn MacGregor

Jer,

Looking into the jid_user problem further, it seems that another major
problem is the js_user function, which gets called twice for each message
(sending user and receiving user). This function allocates off the jid
parameter pool (id), which is the session pool.

The main problem is that there in no concept of a local variable, if you
need a jid it has to be taken from a pool, in this case the only pool is the
session pool. An analogous set of functions which I can pass a pool in may
be an option. Create a local pool to use for all local variables.

Problem Code:

This mallocs off of id's pool (session pool) twice, once for the jid_user
call and once for the jid_new. Guaranteed to fail after a while.
uid = jid_new(id->p, jid_full(jid_user(id)));

Any suggestions on a clean fix would be great. I don't want to implement a
cache system like jid_full because we are still wasting memory in my
opinion.

Thanks

Glenn

[JDEV] IBM-SashXB includes Jabber extension

2002-04-03 Thread Gunjan Kakani

Hi All,

IBM has released the Open Source Linux version of
SashXB - An open source application environment. More details are available on
slashdot.org - http://slashdot.org/articles/02/04/02/1751252.shtml?tid=106

But the interesting thing is that they have
included Jabber extension for communication

" We have
also written extensions to access the native filesystem, play Vorbis files,
parse and construct XML documents, communicate with other machines using the
Jabber protocol, use FTP, and interact with the UI using GTK and Glade, among
other things."

I tried with their simple examples, and its damm
easy to have jabber in your web applications..nice thing to see one more
extension of Jabber..

Cheers~
