Does ist really reduce the risk of bad maintained plugins? I don't think so.
When merging plugins then the risk is higher that none of the features will
get maintained any longer. But when the features are implemented in own
plugins, then maybe some of the plugins aren't maintained, but some others
are.

Request hosting for new Jenkins plugin

2015-07-23 Thread Fernando Boaglio

Hi,

I have been working for a while on translating Jenkins to pt_BR, but I
need to create this plugin to get some stuff inside Jenkins =)

I think there are many people too running Oracle databases that need a tool
to help running scripts (Oracle SQL*Plus scripts, not only SQL scripts)

Plugin info:

-* GitHub URL*:
https://github.com/boaglio/jenkins-plugin-sqlplus-script-runner

- *repository name*: sqlplus-script-runner

- *GitHub username*: boaglio

-* jenkins-ci.org username*: boaglio

- *Description* : This plugin enables you run Oracle SQL*Plus scripts on
your Jenkins jobs (user defined scripts or a script inside a workspace)

- *What makes it different from other plugins*: there is no plugin that run
SQL*Plus scripts.

Re: Jelly Repeatable Items default values

2015-07-23 Thread Christopher Orr

On 24/07/15 01:15, Thiago Augusto Ventura Lima wrote:

Assume I have a setting like "List foos", where Foo is something like

class Foo {
   public String propertyA;
   public String propertyB;

What I'm trying to do is to default "foos" to an "one element list", say
it "[Foo('valueA', 'valueB')]", when this class is firstly loaded and
there's no instance.

repeatableProperty has a "default" field, which specifies the initial
list of values for the repeatable collection, if there isn't yet an
instance.

So basically you just need to add a way of fetching that default list
from Foo.

For example, you could do something like this:

--- Inside BarPublisher.java / wherever Foo is defined ---

public static final class Foo extends AbstractDescribableImpl {

@Exported public final String propA;
@Exported public final String propB;

@DataBoundConstructor
public Foo(String a, String b) {
this.propA = a;
this.propB = b;
}

public static Foo[] getSomeDefaults() {
return new Foo[] { new Foo("valueA", "valueB") };
}

// ...
}

-
--- BarPublisher/config.jelly ---

-

Though remember that users can delete the default "Foo" that appears and
save the job anyway, or they can upload job config directly via the API etc.

So you should probably additionally check in your
builder/publisher/whatever constructor whether the collection is empty,
and if so, apply the defaults (if that's what you want).

Regards,
Chris

Global settings, doFillXYZItems and previously stored settings

2015-07-23 Thread Thiago Lima
I managed to corretly save my plugin global settings to the XML file, but
I'm stuck on how to fill correctly the global settings view, since my
 is being filled with the help of a "doFillXYZItems" method. I saw
the "selected" property in the Option object, but I don't know how to get
the stored setting for the input I'm rendering. The jelly code and fill

Re: commit access

2015-07-23 Thread David van Laatum
https://github.com/davidvanlaatum/UnitTestDB is my code, I use it along
with another of my
plugins https://github.com/davidvanlaatum/DistributedTests. We use them
together to run the nearly 20,000 phpunit tests across a cluster of servers
to take the total runtime down from several hours to under an hour.

The problem we had with the existing jenkins stuff was that it was hard to
split up the unit tests using the matrix plugin into equal runtime groups
and if one unit test fatal errored a bunch of unit tests just disappeared
from the list and sometimes no one noticed for quite some time.

This lead me to write these two plugins. The distributed one runs a master
job that sets up a copy of the code does any db updates via liquibase etc
then runs a php script to generate a json file containing a list of tests,
sets up a apache virtual host for the unit tests to talk to, then starts a
configurable number of slave jobs that run the checkout/setup and start
grabbing the next group of tests off the stack and runs them. If there is
history around runtime of a group it sorts them such that groups that take
the longest run first. When each slave finishes it copies the junit.xml
files back to the master jobs workspace and runs the normal junit plugins
to add the results to jenkins then the UnitTestDB is called and adds info
to the db from the junit plugins data.

The db tracks how long unit tests have been failing and who possibly caused
the failure with the option for people to claim or say it wasn't them. One
key difference is that if it doesn't see a unit test in a particular run it
doesn't remove the failure. This fixes the problem of a unit test starts
failing then another change introduces a fatal error that causes the unit
test not to run, the fatal error gets fixed and the original failure now
shows up as started happening in a new build. On the UnitTestDB page where
people claim etc there is also an option to say a particular unit test no
longer exists.

I also have another jenkins job that runs several times a day to email
people that are currently blamed for a failure along with any unclaimed
failures.

I have been considering bypassing the normal jenkins junit plugins and send
directly to the db as storing 20,000 unit tests per build in jenkins makes
it use a lot of memory and very sluggish.

First, thanks for your quick answer, Kansantsin. :)

And, yeah, I mean exactly the 2nd option.

Assume I have a setting like "List foos", where Foo is something like

class Foo {
  public String propertyA;
  public String propertyB;
}

What I'm trying to do is to default "foos" to an "one element list", say it
"[Foo('valueA', 'valueB')]", when this class is firstly loaded and there's
no instance.

So, it's not implemented yet, right? Thanks anyway... :)

Re: Jelly Repeatable Items default values

2015-07-23 Thread Kanstantsin Shautsou
There is no such functionality and description sounds weird.

If you submitted data, then you don't default entries because they become
real.
If you mean default when this class/ui instance firstly loads (and instance
object is null) then it not implemented yet.

Could you clarify what exactly default do you expect?

Re: LinkageError

2015-07-23 Thread Oleg Nenashev
I suppose you've got into the binary compatibility issues somewhere. Two
plugins may depend on different versions of a same library. If they do not
use shading, there is a risk of such collisions in method signatures.

Hi Lev,

Have you contacted the plugin's owner directly? According to our
guidelines, after that we're commonly waiting for 1 week before granting
permissions. Gregory released the new version of the plugin less than 2
month ago, so I would not consider it as an abandoned one.

Re: Not able to release plugin using maven

2015-07-23 Thread Christopher Orr
One problem is that your artifact ID is incorrect; it should not end
with "-plugin".
https://github.com/jenkinsci/vmware-vrealize-codestream-plugin/blob/cf2cd00/pom.xml#L13
https://wiki.jenkins-ci.org/display/JENKINS/Hosting+Plugins#HostingPlugins-Prerequisites

Otherwise, the POM looks ok, and the commit history shows that you
managed to run prepare earlier today successfully...

Are you sure you have a clean checkout? Do you have anything weird in
your .ssh/config file that would prevent you from reaching github.com?
Or any other config, aliases or environment variables set that would
somehow use your username "rishisaraf11" instead of a hostname?

Regards,
Chris

I remember that you someday said that you want prohibit using GH
issues/wiki for plugin developers.
Could you use jenkins infra (wiki/jira) so "Jenkins Project" and "Jenkins

Re: Jenkins UX

2015-07-23 Thread Gus Reiber
Daniel Beck: We already have something similar in the "context menu" for
the 'configuration' bread crumb. Can't this be reused in some way?

For the approach, I am pretty sure that is script scraping the page and
appending DOM after the page renders, which we can do. But in terms of
using some portion of shared code, definately not. In general, page
scraping and appending DOM has the illusion of being a safeish change. The
problem is that it becomes a maintenance nightmare because the DOM upon
which the scraper is dependant has no indication of the nature of
that dependency. The screen rendering really shouldn't be treated as an
API, which is what ends up happening and leads to the sorts of refactoring
issues we are confronted with now.

UI changes branch progress report Day 1

2015-07-23 Thread Kohsuke Kawaguchi
I'm going to spend the rest of the week focusing on working with Gus and
Tom to get the proposed UI changes into a mergeable state.

The tasks are tracked in here
 during this three
days.

We'll be on hangout from 1pm-5pm pacific time at http://bit.ly/1RSkY1i if
anyone else is interested in chiming in.

So far I've done the following:

   - Built Maven artifacts versions of Node.js and NPM, which is not a part
   of the build time dependency at here
   . This was originally done
   by James, I think.
   - Tom had packaged various JavaScript libraries as Jenkins plugins. I've
   moved them over to here .
   - The proposed WiP branch for config UI changes is moved to here
    so that we
   can all commit directly into this branch. I've made some changes so that
   this branch builds for me on Linux.
   - I started looking at form taglibs and fix form submission problems.
   I've completed and that made a big difference.

As Tom was saying, it's good to write more tests for the form tag libs
(they are in test/java/lib/form/*Test) in the master to capture the current
behavior, and use them to verify that the branch didn't break this
behaviour. I added one for

Then I discovered that unit tests fail left and right for the branch, and
now it makes sense to me why he told me we need to upgrade htmlunit. I
haven't looked into that yet, I'm hoping that Tom can make some progress
before I wake up tomorrow.

There are still various UI glitches in this branch that Gus is tackling
independently.

So that's the progress report of Day 1.

Re: [Plugin Hosting Request] plugin for executing pipeline on Vmware vRealize CodeStream

2015-07-23 Thread Daniel Beck
No. You'll have to do any synching yourself. Note that for almost all plugins,
the jenkinsci repository is the primary development repository, and releases
are also performed from that repository.

This is also where other community members will expect to be able to send pull
requests to.

Jolly good. Could you possibly put that in the Google Calendar?

I know that there is already an "Office Hours" slot in the calendar
every two weeks, but since it hasn't taken place in months, I just
ignore that every time.

So it would be nice to delete the occurring event and only actually add
the event to the calendar, with the topic in the title, when it's
actually scheduled to take place.

Thanks,
Chris

Hi Annie

You can have a build step, post build step, call another job, use the workflow
plug-in, etc. The simplest would be to include a command that generates the SVG
graph in your build, but there are many different ways to achieve the same
result.

> 2. store the svg in the same URL as the previous build

If you archive your image as a build artifact. The URL won't change.

You can browse the configuration for that job for an example. Normally I use R
to generate the graphs, but due to lack of time I decided to simply wget an
image once and pretend I've generated it with some command :)

Hello!
Yes -- that would work! Do you know if there's a way that after each build, I
can:

   - run some javascript to generate the svg
   - store the svg in the same URL as the previous build
   - the description is updated in reload (the svg url doesn't change)
I currently don't know how to generate the svg and get it hosted after a build.
Thanks!

Hi Annie
Maybe in the job description? You can include HTML there, and try to add a link
to an image archived in the latest successful build. Some times I use the Image
Gallery Plug-in for doing something similar (displaying graphs generated with
R), you may want to take a look if that's helpful too.
Hope that helps,Bruno

Hello!
I'm trying to use d3 to generate data visualization on the job status page
(http://localhost:8080/jenkins/job/job-name/)
currently I'm using the active choices plugin and using a groovy script in the
parameter I'm able to put the result on the "build with parameters" page
(http://localhost:8080/jenkins/job/job-name/build?delay=0sec)
Is there a plugin I could use or somewhere in the config file where I can put
the svg on the description page instead?
Thanks!--
