I did also get that "Caught exception evaluating: h.getRelativeLinkTo(job)" error , and able to reproduce it on initial hit after launching Jenkins, but stack trace doesn't point to template-project , at least at first glance. Will try to dig into it, not sure if this is new as that aspect hasn't changed.

You should use credentials type "Secret Text" (as mentioned in help under symbol) with github oauth token. You can convert existing login and password to token credentials with help of Advanced -> Manage Additional GitHub Actions -> Convert Login and Password to token.
If you create token by yourself on page https://github.com/settings/tokens/new, remember to add admin:org_hook and repo:status rights

I tried with Swarm plugin 2.0, client version 2.0 and Jenkins LTS version 1.596.3. Jenkins version requires remoting to be of version 2.49 for the slave to enter online mode automatically.

We had the same issue after a Jenkins update and could solve it by reentering the password on the credentials page.
The password is stored in the credentials.xml file in Jenkins home directory. When I reentered the (same) password, the encrypted password hash apparently changed in the credentials.xml. Maybe the password encryption method of the credentials plugin changed recently and the hashes are not properly migrated?
I hope this can help for someone else...

Hi, this seems like a bug to me. Only thing what came to my mind as a reason is build Action. It was changed from "persistent" action (added to build) to transient action (is added automatically and it is not necessary to check build all the time). I will try to reproduce it. Thanks for report

I have been running into this error. I have the feeling that is related to the parallel build option. (job config - build - advanced)
Does that make any sense? Do other people have this option enabled? If yes...

No I used pull request notifier for Stash. A Stash plugin. However that should not be the problem since I confirmed that the crumb was correct myself with a curl to the crumb generating site. (After Jenkins refused crumb XXX I did a curl to the crumb generator and verified that I got the same crumb to confirm that it wasn't the plugin that was causing the problem)

The symptoms and the stack trace seem identical, so yes, I believe they are duplicates. It could be closed then (I won't be able to test yet though; it will take some time until we get to upgrade the server and then it will still be to LTS only).

Ok, the issue was caused by changing the project display name. The plugin uses PR comment as an indicator if the build is or should be ran. It uses regex including project name; when using display name the regex does not work anymore and plugin thinks that the build was not run. If author will decide to use hooks as mentioned in JENKINS-26785, this issue will be solved.

Ok, the issue was caused by changing the project display name. The plugin uses PR comment as an indicator if the build is or should be ran. It uses regex including project name; when using display name the regex does not work anymore and plugin thinks that the build was not run.

theMSI installer bootstraps using .net 2.0 - which means you need the 2.0 SDK installed to build the msi. It also has issues as 2.0 is available by default on all supported windows versions (and was only needed for XP and server 2003).
So get rid of it and reduce the build time dependencies.
see http://petermarcu.blogspot.co.uk/2010/02/which-version-of-net-is-built-into.html for an overview of OS/.net versions.

the windows packaging jumps through some hoops to generate the MSI as the file id for java.exe is not stable. It would be so much easier to make the ID stable using wix's built in abilities.

[JIRA] [git-plugin] (JENKINS-30276) Jenkins GIT Plugin fails on initial clone

It is much better if we use the mailing list for questions and answers, rather than using the bug tracker for questions and answers.
In this case, it appears (from the stack trace) that your job may be configured to use JGit after having previously been configured to use command line git. Usually the config file format is freely interchangeable between JGit and command line git implementations, but apparently not in this case.
As a work around, you might try to open the workspace (from Jenkins) and wipe the workspace, then perform a "Build now" to populate the workspace again.
As another possible work around, you might try to edit the contents of the .git/config file in the workspace directory to see if you can deduce what is in that file that is not acceptable to JGit. That would have the benefit of helping us better understand if the JGit implementation used inside the plugin needs some "safety feature" to handle some new configuration option added in Windows git 2.5.1.
I believe that at least one of my test machines (Ubuntu Linux) has already updated to git 2.5.1, so I will be surprised if this is a git 2.5.1 general change.

Hey Philip, cheers for the reply! With 'display:inline-block' included, it does prevent overflow of the parent box as you said. However it also adds a big margin (equal in size to that in the description) to the right hand side of the page (see attached 'display-inline.jpg' . Do you see similar behaviour?

For the record, this is a very ugly way to "fix" this particular issue without restarting Jenkins. I'm still not sure if this is caused by this plugin, by jenkins, or by groovy itself.

This may  or may  not be the plugin's fault. The Once this happens, the  following code is enough to hang  the  a  job: {code:java}def testvar = [:]def itemname = 'something'println "I am trying to print a nonexistent item: ${testvar[itemname]}"{code}This code runs fine on one of my Jenkins masters, but hangs on the other.  In fact, the hash element doesn't even need to be non-existent.  However, since this only occurs after a run of the DSL plugin, it may still be an issue with job-dsl-plugin.I also made a job with two steps: # Execute Groovy (using Groovy 2.4.3)# Process Job DSL... and used the code above in both steps.  #1 worked and #2 hung

We are trying to evaluate HP Application Automation Tools Jenkins Plugin Version 3.0.7 for use in our environment. Although the Plugin home page states "This plugin is open source," no OSS License is declared or provided:

Nothing on the Project Home Page.

It's a Maven Project, and Maven metadata is provided in the HPI file, but the pom.xml contains no license declaration.

The number of people watching this issue is pretty high compared to that of other issues. This may provide an indication as to how much of an issue it is.
C.f. http://seclists.org/bugtraq/2015/Aug/161
Adding a couple HTTP headers would also help to harden the security of a Jenkins installation (may break some Jenkins plugins - works for me). Assuming your Domain name is example.org and you use HTTPS:

Content-Security-Policy: "default-src 'self' EXAMPLE.ORG *.EXAMPLE.ORG; script-src 'self' 'unsafe-inline' 'unsafe-eval'; style-src 'self' 'unsafe-inline'; img-src *; media-src *; object-src 'self'; frame-src 'self' updates.jenkins-ci.org;"

When that -1 is reported, do you also get a stack trace in the Jenkins log file on the server? An as yet unreleased change to the date parsing (for Java 6 compatibility) might help with this case, if a stack trace is being placed into the log file when the request is made.
If you're not running Java 6, then that is not likely the problem.

I'm looking into migrating from subversion to git, so I've created a git playpen and I'm trying to build it. The clone went well enough, but after committing a change, I get the following error determining the change set (which is exactly one file in this case).

What version of git is installed on your Red Hat 7 machine, and where is it installed?
What locale are you running on your Red Hat 7 machine?
Is there anything else especially distinctive about your Red Hat 7 machine which would make it distinctive from the CentOS 7 x64 machine that is included in the standard automated tests of the git plugin and the git client plugin?

In every 10 or so instance launches, I see cases where the EC2 plugin opens a SSH connection to the new instance before the time where I believe the corresponding private key has been put in place by the AWS infrastructure during the launch of the instance. As a result, we see errors in the node launch. The output for the launch is below.

git version says 1.8.3.1. The RHEL box is a VM on an ESX server at our colo. It started as the base RHEL 7.0 but has gotten a decent number of yum installs. I can't think of anything that is really out of the ordinary. I don't know anything about the centos test systems, but I'd guess that they would be very similar.

> as crumb is a valid _javascript_ identifier that would open you to attack
Would like to understand better how a header name being a _javascript_ identifier opens one to attack - there are plenty of standard HTTP header names that are valid identifiers - if I make an HTTP request containing
Date: eval("alert('Hey')")
is something foolish enough to execute it?
At any rate, the problem here is simple - ".crumb" is not a legal HTTP header, but there are plenty of options that are legal HTTP headers and illegal as js identifiers - one has already been suggested. I don't think any of us want to leave our NginX installs set to accept whatever garbage a client decides to turn into headers.
Re the suggested additional headers: Some are not a bad idea, but I could write a NodeJS proxy that would strip those out in about 10 minutes and go hog wild (or just use a programmatic HTTP client) - you can't rely on that sort of thing to give you real security, just deter low-hanging-fruit bad behavior.

Rusty Gerard - Thank you for responding. The plug-in worked and it is pushing data to elasticsearch. I noticed later that each line in the build log is inserted as a new line in the elasticsearch document. I was not familiar with elasticsearch's way of logging the data. Everything looks good. I was able to push the data to redis as well and it worked just fine.

Thanks. I'm at the Jenkins User Conference today and likely won't be able to investigate for another 1-2 days. It surprises me that message would occur for you, yet not be readily visible in many of the 6+ installations of the git plugin. I suspect there is something different about your installation, but can't offer any useful hints about what is different.
The standard git version with CentOS 7.1 x64 is definitely tested with Jenkins, and I'm pretty sure (without access to my test coverage reports) that the "git whatchanged" call is included in automated tests.
Any chance your user account has aliased the "git whatchanged" command to something else? That seems unlikely, since you said you are just evaluating the change from subversion to git, but ...?

I think this is a duplicate of https://wiki.jenkins-ci.org/display/JENKINS/Log+Parser+Plugin
I just needed this functionality and found this issue...
It should be closed.. it was a request from 2010
I know how hard is to keep up with JIRA requests when you have too many... close this as soon as you have a chance.

Kirill Merkushev Still happens to me with 1.13.3, using jenkins 1.605. Tried to uninstall the plugin, discard all old plugin configuration and install again - with no luck. Couldn't find nothing in org.jenkinsci.plugins.github.config.GitHubPluginConfig.

Line 268 of GitPublisher.java is:

Re: jUnit (?) discarding tags when certain attributes are equal

This isn't specific to xUnit and happens when just publishing via the jUnit publisher. It also happens if only the timestamps are equal, which is a nasty bug since timestamps shouldn't be used to uniquely identify a testsuite when they have different names. We were noticing fluctuating numbers of tests and this took awhile to debug It looks like Jenkins publishes the first one and ignores any other XML files with the same timestamp. If the timestamps are empty, they are all reported.

This isn't specific to xUnit and happens when just publishing via the jUnit publisher. It also happens if only the timestamps are equal, which is a nasty bug since timestamps shouldn't be used to uniquely identify a testsuite when they have different names. We were noticing fluctuating numbers of tests and this took awhile to debug :) It looks like Jenkins publishes the first one and ignores any other XML files with the same timestamp. If the timestamps are empty, they are all reported.  We are using Jenkins 1.595 with the latest junit 1.8.
