I shall add a page to the main wiki on "how it works" to avoid confusion. EZ isn't like a version control system. It doesn't know the original state before a change - just that template and child are different and it must make some static decision on which value to choose. Its main usecase is a job property being different from the template. When template's default and child's default differ, EZ assumes that the child has specialised itself (child wins). (I used ThinBackup jenkins plugin). 2 Make sure you have latest build (1.2.5 at this moment) of ez-templates. 3 Generally saving a config change to the template will resync every single impl (can take quite some time for 100s of jobs) 4 If that doesn't and you find must manually resave impl projects then Jenkins has a pretty robust REST API. You can GET the config file for a job then POST it straight back to mimic a dummy save. EZ has clear rules on this - if a job property is missing on the template it is removed from the children. There was a bug (fixed in 1.2.2) where this was not honoured and users could not delete a property (but also your usecase worked) Your solution is to add the label to the template with any value you like and the children are then free to override that default value. I hope you have a backup policy (ThinBackup plugin has served us well for years). Although this was a straight bug, templates always have the capacity to magnify a bad decision so should never be used without a backup plugin. I'll add this to the main README. If you need to change an exclusion suddenly you have to do it across all projects which defeats the point of the template.
