 Thank you Raúl, this did the trick. If anybody else comes here, these three fields are found here: Manage Jenkins -> Configure global security -> Tick checkbox at "Specify custom Active Directory domain name". Then add your domain  "domain name" and "domain controller" (perhaps additionally third field "Site", but this wasn't needed in my case)   So maybe a solution could be that the crash info contains a hint to these missing entries?

 I can confirm this. Additional Information: It doesn't work if the windows service is started with either the default "Local System account" or a local user account It does work if the windows service is started with an Active Directory User.
