[JIRA] [poll-mailbox-trigger-plugin] (JENKINS-29822) email on failed builds
Title: Message Title Nick Grealy commented on JENKINS-29822 Re: email on failed builds Hi Ali, Thanks for creating this defect. I think there's a bit of confusion here... The poll-mailbox-trigger plugin ONLY creates new instances of a job, when an email is received. It doesn't (isn't responsible for) notifying (/emailing) senders that the job has failed/passed. If you want to notify the sender when your job fails/passes, I recommend installing the https://wiki.jenkins-ci.org/display/JENKINS/Email-ext+plugin. It'll allow you to configure the job to send you an email, when the job fails/passes. You can then use some of the job parameters that are injected by the poll-mailbox-plugin, to send the email back to the sender (see - https://github.com/jenkinsci/poll-mailbox-trigger-plugin#job-parameters). E.g. Unable to render embedded object: File (EmailOnFailure.jpg) not found. Hope that helps, please let me know if I've misunderstood your problem. (in particular, I'm interested in the schedule value) What version of the plugin are you using? what version of jenkins are you running? Is anyone interested in beta testing the changes? I've tested locally against gmail with two JPEG attachments - seems to work fine. I was looking for general testing "in the wild" and feedback/suggestions. e.g. Test using: your email provider your attachment types your email formats ??? Caveats: I don't think jobs running on a Jenkins slaves will have access the attachments - is someone able to test/confirm this? (Workaround: you could copy them from the master?) There is (currently) no integration with the File Parameter job parameter Downloading: You can either checkout the source code, and run the plugin locallly with the command gradlew clean server or You can download a version I've prebuilt here, and then upload the plugin to your Jenkins instance (e.g. http://localhost:8080/pluginManager/advanced > Upload Plugin) I think that's it, let me know if you have an questions. [JIRA] [poll-mailbox-trigger-plugin] (JENKINS-27575) Please add possibility to handle the attachment of mail to this plugin
Title: Message Title Nick Grealy commented on JENKINS-27575 Re: Please add possibility to handle the attachment of mail to this plugin Hi Justin Nguyen, Thanks for the feedback! Just so you know, you don't actually have to setup a job parameter, the plugin will just inject the `pmt_attachmentsDirectory` variable straight into the job for you. Regarding the download directory, I was thinking we'd need to generate a new directory each time, to make sure we're not overwriting the previously downloaded attachments (in case the same filename's clash). I like your idea, of being able to specify a parent folder to download them into though. How would you expect/like it to behave? be able to turn on/off downloading attachments in the plugin configuration? be able to specify a target directory in the plugin configuration OR just use the "java.io.tmpdir" location? do you want the attachments to download into the configured directory (overwriting files with the same name) OR should it create subfolders using a date timestamp (e.g. `parentFolder/MMdd-HHmmssSSS/`)? anything else??? Currently it's just using the "java.io.tmpdir" location, and then using `System.currentTimeMillis()` for the folder name (details here). Let me know, I'll make the changes, and upload a new plugin! The existing plugin wouldn't cause the issue you're describing, but it'd be a good idea to have only one version installed at a time (I don't know what happens if you have multiple!??). Kind regards, Nick Add Comment This message was sent by Atlassian JIRA (v6.4.2#64017-sha1:e244265)

Title: Message Title Nick Grealy commented on JENKINS-27575 Re: Please add possibility to handle the attachment of mail to this plugin Excellent! Currently the plugin is already configured on a job-by-job basis - so that answers that. Also, the 'pmt_attachmentsDirectory' will only ever point to the "latest" directory, so you shouldn't need to go searching for your files (as long as you know the filename -> on that note, did you want the filenames as parameters? e.g. pmt_attachment_1=myfile.jpg , pmt_attachment_2=anotherfile.xls). Not sure if it's possible, but this is what I'm planning on adding: Let me know what you think (re: wording/etc). I'll start on the changes tonight (+5 hours). [JIRA] (JENKINS-15751) Cannot escape dollar sign in Windows environment
Nick Grealy created JENKINS-15751 Cannot escape dollar sign in Windows environment Issue Type: Bug Affects Versions: current Assignee: Gregory Boissinot Components: envinject Created: 07/Nov/12 3:23 AM Description: Fix JENKINS-13566 introduced the following bug. I can no longer escape the dollar sign value on a Windows environment. e.g. foobar1=foo\$bar foobar2=foo$bar Respectively becomes: foo\$bar foo The value "foo$bar" cannot be achieved. My opinion is that the "escaping" behaviour should be the same regardless of operating system.
