[JIRA] (JENKINS-43947) VersionControlException: renaming: target file already exists
Title: Message Title Ian Williams commented on JENKINS-43947 Re: VersionControlException: renaming: target file already exists The point of this enhancement defect was:* Plugin must report source/target file names throwing error.* It should NOT be a guessing game to identify the culprit, especially since the plugin knows the offending path. The suggestions mentioned are merely possible workarounds, not fixes. We have already made the workspace paths as short as possible. We are restricted by standards from making the file paths any shorter that already as we are using maven archetypes that have conventions. As I mentioned, we have 3.5M files spanning over 50 top level directories. We already have over 40 lower level directories cloaked. I don't want to spend my day guessing what may be wrong! Title: Message Title John Hus commented on JENKINS-43947 Re: VersionControlException: renaming: target file already exists We faced the same issue, and we used Cloaked paths to exclude the files we don't need. Now it works. Add Comment This message was sent by Atlassian JIRA (v7.3.0#73011-sha1:3c73d0e) -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "Jenkins Issues" group. [JIRA] (JENKINS-43947) VersionControlException: renaming: target file already exists
Title: Message Title james stevenson commented on JENKINS-43947 Re: VersionControlException: renaming: target file already exists You get this issue if a file path is too long, a lot of times its the workspace path being long, so name the folders/jobs on Jenkins really short names cause the workspace it all gets brought down to has a folder for each "Jenkins folder" then a folder for the "Jenkins job name". Hope that helps. Ill "Watch" the comment.
