I tried the following steps Define a job which uses git://github.com/MarkEWaite/git-client-plugin.git Define "Branches to build" as "/temporary" Push a branch "temporary-test-for-JENKINS-23590 Configure polling once a minute Configure a build step "git status" to report the repository state Wait 1 minute and confirm that the branch is pulled and built Delete the branch Wait 1 minute, confirm that polling happened, and that the build did not start The polling log correctly lists that temporary branch still in the workspace repository, since I had not configured "Prune stale branches" as an "Additional Behaviour".
