Subject: LDAP Configuration

Hello,

Please forgive me if I am asking very stupid questions.  I am very new to LDAP.
I would like to integrate LDAP with Jenkins so that our existing users can use
their  domain user names to login to Jenkins. I have a server on which Jenkins
runs and people login using "Jenkins’s own user database" method. I enabled
security and selected LDAP in the Security Realm section but I am confused
about how to fill in the required information. For example, for the LDAP
server, Do I have to install a server on the machine? Our organization is split
in many branches and IT is handled by a different department. If they have
already configured LDAP in the organization, do I need to use that? Also, how
will I enforce to use the domain credentials? If someone can shed some light on
this matter, I would really appreciate it.

Thank you,
mak

Jenkins performance issue on login

2013-07-17 Thread Manjunath DG
Hi All,
I do see some performance issue in logging in to Jenkins instance with latest
version 1.522. It took significant time(14 seconds) to load the homepage, My
authentication  to Jenkins is via LDAP…?? Since there is no
data/projects/builds, isn’t this should come up quickly?? Something else seems
to be wrong…?

Thank  you and Best Regards,
Manjunath D G

Can we have multiple type of Jenkins authentication

2013-07-17 Thread Manjunath DG
Hi All,
Right now my user authentication to Jenkins instance is via LDAP. If we have
access Control enabled with LDAP, will the local user and admin account will be
accessible.I don't see that and even i cant select more than one Access Control
of Security Realm.
My Configure Global Security is as shown below.
Enable security
TCP port for JNLP slave agents Fixed :  Random Disable
  Markup Formatter Raw HTML
Treat the text as HTML and use it as is without any translation
   Disable syntax highlighting
  Access Control Security Realm
 Delegate to servlet container
 Jenkins's own user database
 LDAP
  Server
  root DN Allow blank rootDN
  User search base
  User search filter
  Group search base
  Manager DN
  Manager Password
  Disable Ldap Email Resolver
 Unix user/group database
Authorization
 Anyone can do anything
 Legacy mode
 Logged-in users can do anything
 Matrix-based security
 Project-based Matrix Authorization Strategy
 Role-Based Strategy
Prevent Cross Site Request Forgery exploits

Do we have any plugin or method were i can use my Jenkins instance to use both
LDAP auth and local account access.

Thanks and Regards,
Manjunath D G

Re: Upgrading from 1.480 to 1.518 causes apache to issue 503 errors

2013-06-24 Thread Manjunath DG
Hi All,
I'm Planning to upgrade my Jenkins running on Linux Operating system (ubuntu
10.4) from current version Jenkins ver. 1.427 to the latest version 1.519 from
web instance ( Upgrade Automatically). Is this recommendable to do it directly
just after taking the back of config.xml.Do i need to ensure if any thing else
after need to be backed up,do i will have any impact on my existing slaves
which have been configured to my current version of Jenkins? Can anyone please
do guide me on this and how to proceed with this...

Thanks in advance...!

Cheers,
Manjunath D G

Subject: Upgrading from 1.480 to 1.518 causes apache to issue 503 errors

We have been runing Jenkins 1.480 for quite some time.  Today we tried
upgrading to 1.518 and restarted Jenkins.  It seemed to spawn the proper Java
process and even seemed to be running jobs but apache just gives 503 errors.  I
suspect some change between these versions that causes Jenkins to run on a
different port than what we are used to. So when running I see:

jenkins  10320     1  9 22:48 ?        00:02:05
/usr/lib/jvm/java-1.6.0/bin/java -Dcom.sun.akuma.Daemon=daemonized
-Djava.awt.headless=true -XX:MaxPermSize=128m -Xms1536M -Xmx3072M
-DJENKINS_HOME=/home/jenkins/home -jar /usr/lib/jenkins/jenkins.war
--logfile=/var/log/jenkins/jenkins.log --daemon --httpPort=-1 --debug=5
--handlerCountMax=600 --handlerCountMaxIdle=80 --prefix=/jenkins

As you can see we use httpPort=-1 because we are using HTTPS apache redirecting
to ajp13 via mod_jk.  I noticed we are not passing in a value for 'ajp13Port'
(because it did not exist before) but it should default to 8009, which is the
default ajp13 port in mod_jk.  However, I wonder if the real default is 9009 as
indicated in the
https://wiki.jenkins-ci.org/display/JENKINS/Apache+frontend+for+security
section for mod_jk.
Anyone have similar issues?
