I don't think we do, yet, but rather than add it in a regular weekly release in
the future when we start to use these features, we decided to increase the
system requirement now when there's a better chance people read the changelog.

Re: Jenkins 2.0 beta released

2016-03-31 Thread Alex Domoradov
Hello,

I have tried to run jenkins 2.0 with resin but without success. when I'm
trying to open a main page I get the following error

WEB-INF/web.xml:30: http://xmlns.jcp.org/xml/ns/javaee";>
is an unexpected top-level tag.

28: xsi:schemaLocation="http://xmlns.jcp.org/xml/ns/javaee
http://xmlns.jcp.org/xml/ns/javaee/web-app_3_1.xsd";
29: version="3.1"
30: metadata-complete="true">
31: Jenkins v2.0-alpha-4
32: Build management system

At the same time jenkins-1.x.war works fine. Resin implements Servlet 3.0
but Jenkins require 3.1. If I replace web.xml with 3.0 specification it
seems to work.

So my question is - Does Jenkins 2.0 really using any of the 3.1 features
(new classes, methods)?

Thanks in advance

Hello Madan,

That screenshot is only an example. Did you try to use the option
"Recommended plugins" in the install wizard?

All of these types should be provided by the plugins available for selection
during the initial setup wizard. Just select "All" when customizing your
plugins from the provided list.

But please note that the screen shot shows off so far unreleased builds of some
of these plugins -- if you do the above, there's a good chance more of the
icons will look generic (i.e. with letters in front of colored balls).

> is there any documentation on how to use/explore Jenkins 2.0.

Most of what's new in 2.0 is listed on the site[1]. We don't have full release
notes yet. For Pipeline and related plugins we have documentation linked from
its wiki page[2] to get you started.

> What could be the issue of not getting any plugin details in Available page.

Unclear what you mean. Jenkins should have an up-to-date list of plugins once
you complete the initial setup. Try "Check Now" on the "Advanced" tab of the
Plugin Manager.

Please edit /etc/sysconfig/jenkins to set JENKINS_AJP_PORT to -1 and retry.

We recently learned that the beta's RPM/Suse packages are broken. This is
tracked as JENKINS-33776.

I am unable to see all the types as mentioned in '*New item'* , only few

Before filing a bug, I am curious if others experience the same:

I was unable to start jenkins from the service file, but I could as java
-jar /usr/lib/jenkins/jenkins.war

I did the following, basically following the normal install flow:

   - clean install of CentOS 7.2
   - yum upgrade -y
   - yum install -y java
   - yum install -y wget
   - wget http://pkg.jenkins-ci.org/redhat-rc/jenkins-2.0-1.1.noarch.rpm
   - rpm -ivh jenkins-2.0-1.1.noarch.rpm
   - service jenkins start

Checking /var/log/messages does say that Jenkins was started, but nothing
can be found in the processlist.

However, doing a simple java -jar does seem to work.
