Re: Deploying custom portlet

2004-10-27 Thread miten mehta
Hello,

I deleted TD_App under webapps which is my
application.
Then rebuild war and added to deploy dir.

Now TD_App is empty dir in webapps. Jetspeed did not
expand it.

Any ideas?

RE: Problem building Jetspeed 1.5 war

2004-10-27 Thread Pe, Win {PI}
Follow the following steps
Before we get started, we have a few pre-requisite installations:

1. Install a Java compiler (1.3 or greater)
2. Install Ant (1.5 or greater)
3. Install Maven
4. Install Tomcat 4 (4.1.12 or higher (last tested on 4.1.30)) or Tomcat 5
5. Install Jetspeed (1.5 release or higher). Release 1.5 includes the
tutorial and examples. You can also checkout Jetspeed from the CVS head to
get the tutorial.
6. Build Jetspeed. From the root jetspeed directory, type maven dist:install

To build quicker, without the unit tests, type maven -Dmaven.test.skip=true
dist:install
7. Build and install the Jetspeed Plugin. From the /plugin directory, type
maven plugin:install

Especially the following line
To build quicker, without the unit tests, type maven -Dmaven.test.skip=true
dist:install

You can see the instruction at the following link
http://portals.apache.org/jetspeed-1/tutorial/prerequisites.html

Hope it helps.

   Hi.

I'm trying to build the jetspeed 1.5 war file but I'm getting
problems after the unit tests and I cannot get the war.

I'm using Maven 1.0, ant 1.6.1, jdk 1.4, Tomcat 5 and Windows XP.

I'm getting the following error when the build stops.

BUILD FAILED

There were test failures.
Total time: 771 minutes 8 seconds
Finished at: Wed Oct 27 10:10:19 CEST 2004

Is there any way to launch the build without doing all the unit tests?

I'm running 'maven war' to get the jetspeed war file.

   Thanks.

[J2] Security component updated: existing SECURITY_CREDENTIAL table data changes required!!!

2004-10-27 Thread Ate Douma
Hi all,
To be able to implement the enhanced password security (see:
http://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/JS2-151)
I had to make a few changed to the security component interfaces and quite a lot in
its implementation.
Tonight changes only lay the foundation for JS2-151 which implementation I will start
with now.
The current functionality of J2 isn't changed so far, but the security credential data
as stored in
the database is changed.
I've changed the PasswordCredential class to an interface (to allow more flexibility) and added
o.a.j.security.spi.impl.DefaultPasswordCredentialImpl as replacement for the old PasswordCredential.

The CLASSNAME field of the SECURITY_CREDENTIAL table contains the class name of the
PasswordCredential class
used by the CredentialHandler and thus is changed from
o.a.j.security.PasswordCredential to the above mentioned.
The maven db.recreate goal (called from the quickStart goal) will automatically insert
the corrected demo data,
but for those creating users themselves (including their password) through SQL will
have to adapt their scripts
used for that and update their current data in the database as well.
Forgetting to do so will result in users not being able anymore to login and a
LoginException with message
"Authentication failed: Password does not match" will be thrown from the
DefaultLoginModule which is displayed on
the Tomcat console.
The upcoming changes I'll have to make for the implementation of JS2-151 will require
further changes to the
SECURITY_CREDENTIAL table (additional fields). When that happens I'll put out another
warning to the list.
Regards,
Ate

problems with mysql

2004-10-27 Thread Michael McElligott
Hi everyone, just having a problem with using mysql as the database
backing jetspeed. Specifically redeployment doesn't work, and I often
have to issue a db.recreate via maven. The only message that seems as
though it might be related is, during startup:

[DEFAULT] WARN: [PlatformFactory] problems with platform
org.apache.ojb.broker.platforms.PlatformMysqlDbImpl:
org.apache.ojb.broker.platforms.PlatformMysqlDbImpl
[DEFAULT] WARN: [PlatformFactory] OJB will use PlatformDefaultImpl instead

If you've seen this before any help would be appreciated.

Re: Deploying custom portlet

2004-10-27 Thread Michael McElligott
Hi Miten,
There are some other quirks that I've encountered on my installation.
Admittedly, I've not been doing portlet work for long. Still, my
development box is XP, I'm running tomcat 5.0.28 with jdk 1.5.
Jetspeed's backed by a MySQL db. I've had your experience as well. My
problems worked themselves out, but there were a few quirks that I
didn't see documented:

1. When I redeploy a warfile, jetspeed does not remove the old webapp
and install the new one over it. I shut down tomcat5, delete my portlet
webapp directory, build the warfile to jetspeed's deploy directory and
restart. I've also had to do a maven db.recreate fairly regularly
because the removal of my apps doesn't seem to go smoothly. I'm sure
these are basic configuration issues on my system, but I haven't taken
the time to figure them out yet.

2. Some of the documentation suggests that if you have a j2eedeployer
(or something like that) user and password specified in your
build.properties file in USER_HOME it will automatically connect to the
Catalina manager app for removals and installs. This isn't true. You
need to add those properties to jetspeed's properties file
(WEB-INF/conf/jetspeed.properties). Actually, you're supposed to add
them to override.properties from what I read, but I haven't done that so
I can't say that it works.

3. Scott's response probably fixes your problem. ;) I just wanted to
add these to the list for headache reduction purposes.

RE: class cast exception for LDAP role

2004-10-27 Thread Andy . Sun
This is a bug introduced by the 1.5 grouprole implementation. It looks like
it is fixed in the 1.6 dev. Compare the getRole(String username) method in
LDAPRoleManagement.java in 1.5 and 1.6 dev then you can see the differences.

Dynamically Generate PSML/Menus

2004-10-27 Thread Alan Chiang
Hi all,
I'm a bit new to Jetspeed, portals, and the surrounding
technologies, but I'm slowly taking it all in.

I would like to create a menu similar to the PSML menus, but they
need to be dynamically generated from a database. The menu would list
items, for example cars, and as you click on each different car, the
portlets in the card would be populated with more information about
the car - that is, when I select "BMW" from the menu, the portlets are
asked to refresh with information about "BMW", and when I select
"Toyota" the portlets would again refresh. So each menu item contains
the exact same set of portlets, just that they display information
based on the state of the menu (either PSML OR Velocity, which is what
I'm dabbling in now)

The last thing I'd like is for this menu to maintain its current
selection across tabs, so if I have different tabs - low, mid, high -
and I select "BMW" then as I click through the tabs, the menu
selection remains the same, and the portlets are populated with the
corresponding information

Thanks to all for your help in advance,

AC

Re: Problem building Jetspeed 1.5 war

2004-10-27 Thread Alan Chiang
Add -Dmaven.test.skip=true ?

You can also add maven.test.ignore.failure=true or
maven.test.skip=true in the properties file.

Deploying custom portlet

2004-10-27 Thread miten mehta
Hello,

I have custom portlet which is packaged in war file.
xml files I added were:
portlet.xml - which defines xml for my portlet
web.xml - copied it from jetspeed dir deployed in
tomcat (I hope thats how to package)

added entry to default-page.psml as APPID::portletid

I see on default page a window for my porlet but it
does not seem to be getting called.

I dont know exactly what all I need to get a basic
portlet working. I added System.out.println messages
but nothing printed to console. Neither log4j is any
help since I believe my portlet is not called at all.
Some thing related to jetspeed unable to find it.

Any one would like more info let me know and I can
provide you with war file etc.

Miten.

Problem building Jetspeed 1.5 war

2004-10-27 Thread Jesus Sanchez Gonzalez

File.. C:\Documents and
Settings\Administrador\.maven\cache\maven-test-plugi
n-1.6.2\plugin.jelly
Element... fail
Line.. 181
Column 54
There were test failures.
Total time: 771 minutes 8 seconds
Finished at: Wed Oct 27 10:10:19 CEST 2004

Is there any way to launch the build without doing all the unit tests?
I'm running 'maven war' to get the jetspeed war file.
  Thanks.
