 Hi,
I'm a student in computer engineering at Parma University, in Italy.
For my degree thesis I'm trying to implement a basic support for CC-PP
 for Jetspeed.
 Do you have any suggestion?
Which files and classes do I have to modify or to examine?
 Any help would be appreciated.
 Thank you in advance

 Dear ALL,
I have Jetspeed 1.4-b3 running on TOMCAT 4.1.24.
I have an .exe I would like to execute periodically without any event-driven
 action.
I know Turbine has some features about a Scheduler Service and probably
 Jetspeed inherits it somehow.
Or is it something related to TOMCAT itself?
Can I launch an .exe (I have not the source code!) from a scheduled job?
 Any hint appreciated.
 Thank you

Does anyone know where can I find documentation or tutorials about jetspeed?

I'm reading the jetspeed's website tutorial, but I'm still with a lot of

 Hi,

I am volunteering for a non profit organization (my daugther's indian
princess nation) to redesign their website.

I have looked at all sort of different way of developing it and I have
come to the conclusion that I would like a portal of sort to be the main
page and have people manage the pages directly from the web site. I also
really like the idea of portlets and the user/group/role model. It seems
 so natural.

I am in the process of deciding between Jetspeed and Liferay. (more
complete it seems but the learning curve seems steeper). I also want to
stay with a Java based solution.

Looking at the example site, I really like what I saw at
 http://www.anglonaweb.it/index.jsp or
 http://qld.ieaust.org.au/jetspeed/.

However looking at what comes bundled with Jetspeed I am wondering how
to get there on my limited time and no budget :-).

Is there examples of semi-complex sites that I can use as a canvas to
the site I want to create. Is somebody willing to share their source
code so I can learn from it.

 Thanks in advance

Re: Portlet Change the language

2003-01-29 Thread Massimiliano Dessi
Jetspeed use l10n to change the language,
in the portlet .vm (Velocity),
you found $l10n.variableName in the velocity portlet.
Jetspeed substitute variableName with the variableName in the
JetspeedLocalizatio_language(it, en ,es,jp, fr de, ..).properties
if the variableName don't exist and if the portlet don't use this system,
the content of the portlet
can't change the language because the content it's in the only language.

Subject: It is possible to refresh Portlets ?

 Hi all,

i try to develop an portlet which is usable like the windows explorer. For
that i create an AbstractPortlet and using the ECS to define the layout.
The
problem i have is, that i am forced to use actions on the Elements (the
 folder images).

To realize that actions i can't use real JAVA-Actions like the
MouseListener
because they are ignored by the Turbine-Engine. Now i have tried to use
JAVA-Skript elements like onMouseOver to realize some actions. My idea is
to
force jetspeed by this action to refresh the page, analyses the parameters
and repaint the table by using the parameters.

The refresh works, but only my portlet is not refreshed and i got the
following exception message where my portlet is:

 org.apache.turbine.util.TurbineException: Error rendering Velocity
template:
/controls/html/jetspeed.vm: Invocation of method 'getContent' in class

org.apache.jetspeed.portal.security.portlets.CacheableStatefulPortletWrapper
threw exception class java.util.NoSuchElementException : null

Where is my failure? Knows anybody a solution or a better way to realize
actions (perhaps execute real java actions)? In every action i must read
out
some parameters and repaint the explorer-Portlet by checking these
params...

 Thanks in advance

CustomLanguage service +portlet

2002-10-30 Thread Massimiliano Dessi
I'd like to give to the jetspeed comunity the sources of a
portlet and the correlated service to change the current language.

Jetspeed by default reads the header from the request and to change
the language is necessary to modify the browser settings.

How it works:
this service is similar to the original localization and it works in the
same way
until the use of the changeLanguage portlet
If a user changes the language from the portlet, the new language is set
and remains or he can change it again when he wants,
without the browser rules.
If it is necessary he can use not official languages ( minority languages)
that the browser doesn't use.
The service can be compiled with jdk 1.4.1 or 1.3.1 as described in the
code.
For the portlet it' s possible to view the label of the state or view the
flag of the country as described in the code.
If the developer wants to add other languages , he have to add the file
JetspeedLocalization_newlanguage.properties
in the jetspeed.jar and add the link cL=newlanguage in a
contructorHtml.java

After compile put the classes injetspeed\WEB-INF\classes\ , the
language.xreg in the folder conf

To start the service comment the original service
#services.LocalizationService.classname=org.apache.turbine.services.localiza
tion
and add the follow string
services.LocalizationService.classname=org.apache.jetspeed.services.customlo
calization.JetspeedLocalizationService
and comment the original tool
#tool.request.l10n=org.apache.turbine.services.localization.LocalizationTool
and add the follow string
tool.request.l10n=org.apache.jetspeed.services.customlocalization.CustomLoca
lizationTool

Enjoy it

how to refresh

2002-09-26 Thread Massimiliano Dessi

Hi all,

any idea how I can refresh from code the page
depending on some variables into the request.
I'll try to explain better:
I'm trying to change the language in the page and it happens successfully
but only after a refresh. It sets the new language but it build the page before
the new setting takes effect, and only if I click again anywhere the browser
shows the new language.
I try the same thing from a template(invoking an action) and from a portlet
with the same bad result!!
Thanks

 Massimiliano,

I noticed that PASSWORDFORM_* properties are missing in your attachment.
Is
 that for a purpose? Thanks!

I'm no expert but try the following:

-- change all logging levels in the
~/WEB-INF/conf/*.properties files to be INFO instead
 of DEBUG

-- give Tomcat a lot of memory via the
 CATALINA_OPTIONS. e.g. -Xmx256m and -Xms128m

-- look for velocity caching options in
 TurbineResources.properties and turn it on

Please let us know if you find anything else that
 helps.

 thanks,
 Mike

 Andrew,

I'm a newbie too. Welcome. Something I noticed
 is that some of the
example portlets will take a while when you refresh
 the page (especially
if they're trying to grab stuff off the inet or are
 having problems).
Have you tried making your new portlet the only one
 on your current
pane? That would rule out the effect of other
 portlets interfering with
response time. If that does it, then you can slowly
 add portlets to
 identify the problem causer...

 Hi,
I'm a jetspeed newbie, impressed with its
 functionality etc. My only
concern about using it in production is with
 response time. A user
 portal
page takes about 8-10 seconds to appear, even with
 just a 'hello
 world'
portlet defined for the user.Meanwhile, I have
 some fairly
 intensive
servlets on the same box that take only 1-2 seconds.
  (800MHz, NT,
 256Mb,
 JRun servlet engine.)

My settings are prettly much out-of-the-box.
 cachedOnName=true
cachedOnValue=true are set for all portlets.

Are my response times the norm or am I missing
 something? Would using
external RDMS rather than Turbine improve things
 (I've tried SQL server
 and
 Sybase with no luck).?

 Thanks!
 Andrew

How can obtain the actual url in the layout templatel?

2002-08-28 Thread Massimiliano Dessi

Hi
Is it possible reading the actual url inside a layout velocity template?

example
localhost:8080/jetspeed/portal/user/turbine/page/default.psml/js_pane/P-eff026a758-10002

$data.getID() in a velocity template (default.vm) is not accessible,

with $data.getPageSessionId()  obtain user/turbine/html/default.psml
the part /js_pane/P-eff026a758-10002 wich can obtained?

Does it need extends the VelocityPortlet to put in the context this information?

thanks in advanced
