I've been meaning to mention an album that a friend gave me recently entitled, Chants Juifs pour violoncelle et piano featuring Sonia Wieder-Atherton on cello and Daria Hovora on piano. They have an interesting approach to interpreting and arranging several traditional pieces.They also perform five works by Ernest Bloch. A good collection and I recommend it. I completely concur. This should have been the first 5-star album of the new year in my column, but my editor has been sitting on the column for months (record columns are considered an "evergreen" since records, unlike movies or concerts, don't disappear completely). It's a very fine CD and I hope the review will appear soon.
