[JGrass-devel] could JGrass create an unreadable GRASS location?

2009-02-23 Thread iomeneandrei

Dear all,
I have a very strange JGrass problem. I create a grass location using
JGrass. These are the geospatial parameters:
epsg: 23033
north: 4215885
south: 4161885
east: 327145
west: 273145
nsres: 400
ewres: 400

Then I run some simple grass commands using JGrass console. First I import
http://n2.nabble.com/file/n2373918/sr5.zip this shapefile:
v.in.ogr.exe -o dsn=c:/tmp/sr5.shp output=sr5 min_area=0.0001 snap=-1

Then a vector to raster command:
v.to.rast.exe input=sr5 output=sr5 use=attr type=area layer=1 column=landuse
value=1 rows=4096

Then I try to add to my map this raster GRASS object, but JGrass is not able
to add it to my map.

In this movie you can view this behavior in action:
http://bit.ly/KdE9J

I have used "jgrass-1.1.x-build20090221152118-win32.win32.x86.zip".

This is my http://n2.nabble.com/file/n2373918/log_jgrass.zip JGrass log .

What's wrong in my procedure?

Thank you,

a

I know I have a solution for it ;-) I wanted only to alert about this
inconsistency.

Then in some way JGrass does not read the real data, but it interprets it.
Would not it be better to read the actual value, and play with null data in
rendering context?

If it's necessary you first must create this file, then make drag & drop,
and the you must use JGrass menu.

If my idea had a sense, you should only use the JGrass menu. I'm talking
only about working mapset.

[JGrass-devel] About GRASS, uDig and GeoTiff

2009-02-01 Thread iomeneandrei

Dear all,
probably this is not the only place where I should have write, but JGrass is
a bridge between GRASS and uDig and for this reason I'm writing here.

I have a geotiff http://n2.nabble.com/file/n2254422/file1.tif file I'm
able to load in JGrass. Then I import it with JGrass in a grass mapset, and
I make some JGrass works with it (i.e. slope calculation). At the end I
export it as geotiff. I make this because this format gives me the
opportunity to exchange and archive simply the result of my geospatial
process.

The problem is that it's impossible to open in JGrass
http://n2.nabble.com/file/n2254422/from_jgrass.tif this JGrass exported
geotiff file.

To open it properly, I must use gdal libraries:
  > gdal_translate -a_srs epsg:23033 input.tif output.tif

There are several
http://n2.nabble.com/file/n2254422/file1%2Bvs%2Bfrom_jgrass.pdf differences
between these metainfo files: that one that makes it impossible to open the
last file in uDig is the lack of this raw: AUTHORITY["EPSG","23033"].

I know this is a problem related to standards, and it's in some way more
related to GRASS. Do you have some advice to solve this unpleasant
incompatibility. Is there in this list some GRASS experienced user or some
geotiff experienced user?

I think that to solve this problem would be a benefit for grass, udig and
jgrass users.

Best regards,

Andrea

a windows machine.

This is my original location:
http://n2.nabble.com/file/n1518344/Castellammare.zip Castellammare.zip

This is my command:
grass {
r.slope.aspect.exe [EMAIL PROTECTED] slope=pendenza_pr5

This is my log:

A very important thing: if i close and reopen JGrass I'm able to see that
layer that few minutes before gives me the problem that you know. Then in my
opinion the produced file has the right consistence.

Thank you for all,

[JGrass-devel] A strange problem

2008-11-18 Thread iomeneandrei

Hi all,
I'm using JGrass foss4g 2008 version. I have a strange problem. When I run a
grass command that produce a map (i.e. r.slope), I'm able to add it to the
map. If I run it a second time and I produce another map object, JGrass
seems not able to rendere properly the same kind of object created with the
same above process.

You can see this behavior in action here:

What do you think about?

I have not written the error beacuse it's the same. Excuse me.

The (italian) error is:

non Š riconosciuto come comando interno o esterno,
un programma eseguibile o un file batch.
r.shaded.relief.bat : exit code: 1

My command is:

grass {
r.shaded.relief.bat map=dem shadedmap=rileivo altitude=30 azimuth=270

}

It seems a simple environment problem, but I'm not able to solve it.

A lot of data sets have this SRS (epsg:4326), and it would be a great thing
for JGrass users to read natively this kind of data.

When I try to open it with JGrass, adding a layer starting from this

Is it a problem of my location, or a JGrass problem?

[JGrass-devel] Impossible to view layers created starting from console

2008-10-03 Thread iomeneandrei

Hi all,
I have strange problem. I create a grass layer starting from a console
command:
r.slope.aspect elevation=DEMED50_UTM33 slope=suolo_out format=degrees
prec=float zfactor=1.0 min_slp_allowed=0.0 --overwrite

JGRASS and GRASS create this layer, then I add it to my map, but it's
impossible to render it properly. If I close JGrass and then open it again,
I'm able to add this layer. It's the same object, why the first time
JGrass/uDig does not render it properly?

In this movie you can see this behavior in action.

Re: [JGrass-devel] I'm becoming crazy (Setup Development Environment)

2008-09-30 Thread iomeneandrei

Hi Andrea
these are my steps

- I have downloaded and extracted in c:\
"eclipse-rcp-europa-winter-win32.zip", and I have "c:\eclipse" folder.
- I have downloaded from refraction website jre1.6.0_06.win32.zip and I have
extracted it in "c:\eclipse", and I have "C:\eclipse\jre1.6.0_06" folder
- I opened eclipse and I have set my workspace: "C:\eclipse\workspace"
- I have set jre in windows>preferences>installed jres. I have add
C:\eclipse\jre1.6.0_06 and I removed the orginal one
- I have downloaded udig-1.1-RC14-sdk.zip and extracted it in "c:\eclipse"
folder, and I have "C:\eclipse\udig-sdk" folder
- I have downloadedextras-3.3.0-win32.zip and extracted it in "c:\". I this
way the plugin and features folders (I have inside the zip) are inside the
c:\eclipse folder.
- I have downloaded "jgrass-extra-sdk.tar.gz" and extracted it in
"C:\eclipse\udig-sdk" folder and I have
"C:\eclipse\udig-sdk\jgrass-extra-sdk"
- I have set 6.0 as Java compiler
- I have set "C:\eclipse\udig-sdk" ad location target platform
- I have set as plugin folders "C:\eclipse\plugins",
"C:\eclipse\udig-sdk\jgrass-extra-sdk" and "C:\eclipse\udig-sdk\plugins"
- I have set run/open run dialog preferences and I'm able to run uDig.
- I have installed subclipse
- I have checked-out all subfolders inside
https://svn.dev.cocos.bz//svnroot/jgrass/jgrass3.0/trunk
- I have checked-out svn /jgrass3.0/community/moovida/eclipse_extras_1.1.x
folder in C:\eclipse\extra folder, and I added
"C:\eclipse\extra\eclipse_extras_1.1.x" to plugin foldes in target platform
- Finally I have these target platform settings:
http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3230/2901764460_e30425065e_o.png

Now I have only 153 errors, one of these is "The import org.eclipse.swt.SWT
cannot be resolved".
But I do not understand why eclipse is not able to import this fundamental
class.

Some advice?

Thank you and good luck for foss4g!!!

[JGrass-devel] I'm becoming crazy (Setup Development Environment)

2008-09-30 Thread iomeneandrei

Dear all,
I have sent yesterday this message to the wrong list (jgrass-user). I'm
sorry.

I need to setup Jgrass development environment from scratch. It's not the
first time, but this time I'm not able.
I have made the steps of
http://jgrass.wiki.software.bz.it/jgrass/Setup_Development_Environment

I have several errors. One of these is "The import org.eclipse.ui.texteditor
cannot be resolved" (in ConsoleEditorActionCompile.java).

I do not have my harddisk tree any org.eclipse.ui.texteditor folder

This is my folder structure:

C:\eclipse\configuration\
C:\eclipse\features\
C:\eclipse\jre1.6.0_06\
C:\eclipse\plugins\
C:\eclipse\readme\
C:\eclipse\runtime-New_configuration\
C:\eclipse\udig-sdk\
-C:\eclipse\udig-sdk\
-C:\eclipse\udig-sdk\configuration\
-C:\eclipse\udig-sdk\features\
-C:\eclipse\udig-sdk\jgrass-extra-sdk\
-C:\eclipse\udig-sdk\plugins\
C:\eclipse\workspace\

Where would I find this folder?

Thank you,

a

I know that a mapset holds all the informations (environmental vars) about
the command execution.
I'm not absolutely a GRASS master, but I understand that it's possible to
create a location (and a permanent mapset) also outside a mapset (I have
tested my v.in.ogr example with location parameter).

Moreover imagine I need to create an user interface for r.slope.aspect
command in JGrass, and that I want to distribute it as a plugin inside a
specialized JGrass installer. Does the installer then must create a start
mapset (it will have a specific projection systems)? And if I want to use my
plugin with layers with different projection systems?

Thank you,

a

[JGrass-devel] JGrass settings and Mapset creation

2008-07-22 Thread iomeneandrei

Hi all,
in grass preferences of JGrass I have two GRASS parameters: Mapset and
GRASS.
If I set not properly them it's impossible to use JGrass console.

I have a question about Mapset parameter.

If I not set it I have:
ERROR: LOCATION << null/null >> not available

I have the same error also if I add the "location" parameter in v.in.ogr
command (it forces the creation of new location, and permanente mapset):
v.in.ogr.exe dsn=G:/UTMED50/prep.shp output=toponimi2 min_area=0.0001
type=point snap=-1 location=prova

Then it seems that a Mapset must exist before the launch of a grass command.
But it seems strange to me.
Imagine I need to create an user interface for r.slope.aspect command in
JGrass, and I want to distribute it as a plugin inside a specialized JGrass
installer. Does the installer must create also a mapset location (and then a
specific projection systems)? And if I want to use my plugin with layers
with different projection systems?

Probably it's a stupid question, but I do not find an answer.

Thank you,

Andrea

I have udig-1.1-RC14-sdk.zip and I launch udig from eclipse.
I have all the plugins active as you can see in the attached file
"jgrass3.png".
I think I have jgrass plugins in the workspace because I have the
possibility to add a JGrass database layer.
I'm attaching also my folders structure.

Hi Andrea,

once again thank you for the wiki work. I have tried too to setup the
development environment and running jgrass in windows. I have no problem to
run uDig (point 5 of the wiki), but I'm not sure to be able to run properly
JGRASS.

In the wiki instructions I can read that it's necessary to change the target
platform. There is a screenshot and it's seems it's necessary to select only
the udik-sdk/plugins folder and deselect the eclipse plugin and
jgrass-extra-sdk plugin folders. It seems to me strange to be necessary to
deselect this last folder to run JGrass. Am I wrong? Moreover if I deselect
jgrass-extra-sdk plugin folder, I will obtain a uDig in which I can not add
a JGrass Database Layer.

Then there are the instructions to install subclipse and to set SVN for
JGRASS. I have run it, without problem.

I have svn set, and I chose jgrass-extra-sdk plugin and udik-sdk/plugins
folders as target platform, and finally I have clicked on run button.
I have obtained a running uDig, and I have the possibility to add JGRASS
database layer, but I do not have the jgrass console button.
I think I must setup grass environment using udig grass/console preferences.
Do I must download some specific version of grass for windows? Is there some
specific installations instructions?

Thank you,

a
