RE: simultaneous http requests

2008-08-29 Thread Mathumathi Palani Bommu, EAS-Chennai

Hi

U can configure your test plan like this

ThreadGroup
-- Your Http request
--constant timer value set to 5000(ms)
-- Your Second Http request
Note : please clear the Ramp up duration and set as blank
Loop count is 1
No of threads(users): set ur desired value

And try

It worked for me

This is the value
1 11:53:53.734Thread Group 1-1HTTP Request109
Success 15638
2 11:53:58.843Thread Group 1-1HTTP Request47
Success 15638

You can give a try to Webload opensource tool if needed

Subject: RE: simultaneous http requests

I have adjusted the ramp up time it does not seem accurate.
I have also been through the documentation "building a web test plan".

I created another simple test with the following values.

Number of threads(users) 1
Ramp up period(in seconds) 10
Loop Count 1

Below the thread group I have two http requests.
If I run the test and view the results in table format
the start time of the requests is 3 and then 2.6 seconds apart.

What I want to achieve is measure throughput so 1 request every 5
seconds. Then at a later stage 1 request every 4 seconds etc.

This is sample data when I view results in a table format.

Sample 1
19 12:03:15.457
20 12:03:18.399
Sample 2
21 12:09:37.167
22 12:09:39.854

Thanks for yor help in advance.

Are there any other tools you could suggest I use that are
free/opensource
and similar to jmeter but have this functionality. Ive spent three days
Days on this tryig different combinations and values and still no luck.

Works fine for me.

I suggest you start by entering a fixed number.
Replace that with a variable, finally try the function.

Also try the function - cut and paste - in the Name field to check
that it is working

That's because the syntax is wrong, it should be:

${__Random(1,10)}

Can any one tell how to use random function to generate random numbers
in each iteration ..

I tried this format $_{Random(1,10)} in the data tag of XML request but
the no value is generated instead the value is passed as {1,10} in the
request..

Please suggest the usage of Random function in the Web service sampler

Hi

You just take the whole XML string you want to send to the web server,
and paste it in as a value for an argument / parameter for the HTTP
Sampler, but do not provide an argument name / parameter name.

Yes, you should be able to use the HTTP Request sampler, and set method
to "Post", and have it send the content of a file.
Just leave the "Value for "name" attribute" empty.

Or you can take the whole XML and paste it into a row in the "http
arguments" table in HTTP Request Sampler, and just do not provide a
"name" for the row, then the content is sent as the POST body.
You might have to add a "HTTP Header Manager", to send a "content-type"
header with value "text/xml", I do not remember exactly how REST works.
Make sure to add a "View Results Tree", so you can easily debug what
request is sent, and what response is received.

Alf

Hi ;
Max thread Limitation of Jmeter also depand on yorr machine like RAM
and virtual Memory other then application/web server capacity.
for example if you have 2GB RAM and around 7000KB VM. then it maximum
can handle 100 threads at a time.

so check your machine configuration as well .

No, Jmeter is just a tool to record your application's load performance.
Max limit depends on your application/web server.

Thanks,

I think there is no limit on the max threads. Please see that the no of
threads don't exceed the maximum load that your server can offer.

Thanks,
Vijay Nandam
