[JOYnet] Christian Alphabet Poem!

2001-12-11 Thread Monisha Rebello

Although things are not perfect
Because of trial or pain
Continue in thanksgiving
Do not begin to blame
Even when the times are hard
Fierce winds are bound to blow
God is forever able
Hold on to what you know
Imagine life without his love
Joy would cease to be
Keep thanking Him for the things
Love imparts to thee
Move out of "Camp Complaining"
No weapon that is known
On earth can yield the power
Praise can do alone
Quit looking at the future
Redeem the time at hand
Start every day with worship
To "Thank" is a command
Until we see Him coming
Victorious in the sky
We'll run the race with gratitude
Exalting God most high
Yes, there will be good times and Yes some will be
bad, but,
Zion waits in glory...where none is ever sad!

Too blessed to be stressed!"
The shortest distance between a problem and a
solution is the distance
between your knees and the floor. The one who kneels
to the Lord can stand up to anything.Satan trembles even when the
weakest saint is on his knees!!!

[JOYnet] Abortion -- discussion...

2001-12-11 Thread Mathew Joseph

Hello Kripa (and others),

Kripa, I think the discussion on Abortion was really healthy.
I read your mail once again.. I appreciate and respect your opinion
and I didn't find anything hurting there.
Rather, we are happy to get some expert legal opinion
free of cost :-)

You and Lina gave your opinion from the legal
point of view. I was in my earlier mail, trying to give my
opinion as a common citizen in India. I think the discussion
was healthy. Though our opinions were opposite, I think, we
should agree to disagree... Frankly, I thought you people
will come up with some answers to the questions I raised :-)

In JOYnet, members are allowed to express their
differences of opinion in a healthy manner. Through
these discussions we learn from each other.

I just want to give my opinion about the one point you raised
in your earlier mail.

Kripa wrote >>to change
Kripa wrote >>a particular pratice in society the method to be adopted might
be to
Kripa wrote >>convince people rather than to amend the law.

I disagree to this point..
I think both are required. Law should change from time to time
to reflect and support the social needs.. Without the support of the law,
we may not
be able to convince the people also. For example, the recent law against
software piracy. They made the law first and made software piracy illegal
in India.
Now through the media, they are trying to convice people to buy legal
software.
I think, in Abortion also, this procedure should be followed.

Lina, Kripa, waiting for your comments :-)

Mathew Joseph

[JOYnet] Vision in the Church a humbling experience

2001-12-11 Thread Thomas Mathew

Vision in the Bible
===

There was a non Jew, a gentile, and his name was  Cornelius. Cornelius
lived in Caesaria.  He was a Roman officer who belonged to the Italian
regiment. Cornelius was a very religious man. He had done acts of charity
and his whole family worshiped God. Cornelius helped even  the poor
Jewish settlers. Cornelius and his whole family constantly prayed to God.
One after noon about three, he had a vision. In that vision an angel came
to him. The angel called him by his name. An angel who stands in
attendance before the mighty God appeared and called him by his name “
Cornelius”.

Cornelius stared at the angel in fear and asked the angel “What is it
sir”.  He asked the angel in military terms addressing the angel “sir”.
Cornelius knew that this man in white robe appeared to him is a superior
person and he addressed the angel with respect and fear. Then the angel
kindly addressed him “Cornelius your prayers are answered”.  The Angel
said in kind words to ease his fear. After easing his fears the angel
praised him specifically about his acts of charity. “God is pleased with
your prayers and acts of charity and God is ready to answer you” Acts
10.8. These very verse speaks about an appreciating God. G! od
appreciated the works of mercy. I think this incident is a reminder to us
to be conscious about the many people who are starving and who go to bed
with an empty stomach this very night while we feast at our table. You
might ask me what to do. I am not to suggest answers about the
possibilities open before your own eyes wherein you could make a big
difference in the lives of the poor people in your neighborhood and even
in your own family. There could be people who are less privileged and we
might be criticizing them for not being industrious like you and me. God,
knowing their disability has installed us as charismatic caregivers to
them.

We might be able to pray for the less privileged people in our families.
We might be able to pray for the hungry people. I would say that is a
good gesture. God is inviting us to take another bold step to  make  the
lives of the poor  people worth living. We could save some money from our
sacrifices and fasting.

Cornelius send his men to fetch Peter. Cornelius send a few of his men
to fetch Peter from Joppa. Peter was to speak to Cornelius. God readied
the people of Joppa for a miraculous outpouring of the Holy Spirit. As
the men from Caesarea arrived looking for Peter in the House of Simon the
tanner of Leather who lived by the sea, Peter was sitting on the roof of
the house, enjoying the vision and he was hungry for food too.

 Peter’s Vision   in Joppa

Peter didn’t hesitate to climb the roof to pray and he sat there at noon
time. Being on the roof and as he was in prayer, Peter had a vision. In
that vision, God lowered all kinds of animals to a hungry Peter. God
declared that the animals shown to him were clean. God commanded   him to
slaughter and eat them. When peter refused to eat the traditionally
unclean animals God  took him to task “ do not consider anything unclean
what God has declared clean” Acts 10.15.

While Peter was pondering over the meaning of the vision, the three men
from Cornelius were standing outside his house and were asking for Peter.
Peter went with them and Peter in his address, mentioned to the Jewish
people in Caesaria, how Jesus  anointed with the Holy Spirit preached to
the people“ and you know  how God poured out on Jesus His Holy Spirit and
power” Acts 10.38. Here we have another mention of the outpouring of the
Holy Spirit on Jesus.

Another instance of the outpouring of the Holy Spirit

While Peter was talking to them he had the outpouring of the Holy
Spirit. All the Jewish people who were gathered around Peter were also
anointed likewise. It was unheard  that the gentiles were given the
outpouring of the Holy spirit. They (the gentiles gathered with
Cornelius) heard  Peter and the Jewish people speak in tongues. Yes,
after the incident in Jerusalem, another public occurrence of the people
speaking in tongues in groups.  Peter ordered them to be baptized. Thus
the church is open to the Gentiles. Peter was even questioned for acting
differently and against the traditions of the Jewish people. Peter
explained to the believers in Jerusalem, how he in his vision heard God
asking him to! respect what God has declared clean. Peter related to
them, the vision Cornelius had. God said to Cornelius, “Simon Peter will
speak  words to you by which you and all your family will be saved” Acts
11.14.   Peter shared to the group the outpouring of the Holy Spirit on
the Gentiles. “When I began to speak , the Holy Spirit came down on them
just as on us in the beginning” Acts 11.15

The Jewish people always believed that salvation is entirely and
exclusively for the Jews. On the other hand, God’s intent was and is
different. God doesn’t discriminate His children. The Jews of that time
had little  idea

[JOYnet] RE: Women and Liturgy of the Word.

2001-12-11 Thread Alex

Sorry I didn't add this in the earlier mail; and I didn't
get time to write till now. ..

Friday when I was talking to one of my friends about her
going to Mass at Seattle University. She was telling me
that it felt quite uneasy when the priest invited a
congregant, a woman, to proclaim the gospel and give
meditation on the gospel. She said the homilist was a
theology professor at the U and she gave a very good
meditation for the day (an aside: she also said that there
was a prayer after the homily that went to include
something like "we pray that the church authorities would
recognize the place of women in the church soon," which
didn't "sit pretty" with her.) She was asking me how do I
feel about this.

In my priliminary thoughts I figured:

-- when there isn't a mass, only the liturgy of the word
and distribution of communion, the distributor gives a
little meditation on the reading (very often in my parish
these are well prepared and much more in-depth than many of
the homilies I have heard in my life.)

-- In some parishes the Deacons give the Sunday homily
(when I was in Maryland, this was the case more often.)

-- So, if a woman can be a deacon, and deacons can give
homilies during the mass. unless of course if there is
a "if an ordained priest is not available ..." clause
attached to it.

[JOYnet] Prayer Request

2001-12-11 Thread leandra belle

Hello Joynetters,

I wish to extend compliments of the season to everyone.

Hey Guys & gals,

i will be celebrating my 25th birthday on Friday December 14th 2001. After
all that is 1/4 of a century and i thank God for that. I have made my wish
and would love for it to come true. Can you guys please pray for that for
me. I know that God has His plans for us and we have ours, however, please
pray that if it is His will it will be granted unto me.

Next, my youth group will be celebrating our 15th anniversary on Sunday
December 23rd, 2001. I have been in the group since it's inception. We
will be hosting a grand youth rally under the theme "youth called to witness
and to change". We see that theme really appropriate since it is time that
young people take a stand for Jesus. We anticipate a lot of young people
and therefore we really want it to be successful. Lately, in Dominica we
has been having a lot of rain and therefore we wouldn't want to rain to ruin
this great event. I therefore request your prayers for the success of this
rally.

thanks in Advance and may the dear Lord bless you

Love

Leandra

[JOYnet] Introduction

2001-12-11 Thread rohin

Praise The Lord

I have been a member of Joynet now for around 7-8 months. I am a silent
listener (like most of you !) of all the young spirits moving around JY and
really enjoy the Spiritfilled messages with great happiness. It is indeed with
great interest I am going through the mails concerning various issues.

My name is Johnson - a man of 40. Married with 3 kids. My e-mail id is of my
son's (ROHIN - he is a 7th std student).
I am hailing from Thodupuzha, Kerala, presently working in Qatar. A born again
Catholic Charismatic follower of Jesus Christ. I was a prodigal son of God. He
called me back to his home during 1995. since then I am trying my best to be a
humble servant of my Heavenly Father.

We have a regular prayer meeting in our house on every Thursday (8pm to 10
pm). It is named 'Shalom Prayer Group' .People from many walks/many
denominations and religions are attending the fellowship. Also an intercessory
prayer on every Monday (mainly to support our Thursday Fellowship) is been
held. Qatar is not an open place for Christian prayers (but better than
Saudi).

During this coming Eid holidays a three day retreat is been planned to be
conducted in our church. We request all JYs to pray for the success of this
retreat.

Now I have a few doubts to be cleared :

(1) - Is there any age criteria to be a member of Jesus youth/joynet ?

(2) - If some clarification is to be done before posting a mail (if we felt
something controversial or doubtful to be legible to post in Joynet or Parable
net}, to whom shall I contact to get an advise/guidance ?

(3) -Is there any technical problems if the membership is increasing
enormously (like in thousands or ten thousands or even more..! ) - Just a
doubt because I remember few months back I read something like that from the
web administrator and I am having a strong feeling that the number will
increase unimaginably as the Holy Spirit has a GREAT plan with JY for the
Global Evangelization, I am praying for that.

(4) May be the new members are not aware of the office bearers of this
fellowship. Can you introduce The webmaster, Leaders/Pastors, Founder members
etc of this Fellowship, a brief history and a list of all present members (if
possible).

With Prayful Regards and best wishes to all of you Gods Sons and Daughters..

Your brother and Son of God,

Johnson, P.O.BOX NO. 19101, Doha, Qatar.
