[JOYnet] thanks for your prayers.

2002-01-05 Thread nelson abel

  Dear friends,
I am writing this mail with a heart full of joy gratitude. I thank god
for placing me in a beautiful community like joynet.
Two days before I posted a mail asking for a prayer support. Actually two
weeks ago some problems started in my life. Initially I thought, everything
would be all right. But it grew and finally it becomes a huge mountain. And
I was almost lost my senses. Then I decided to ask your prayer support.
The result was fantastic. With in 24 hours, I got around 10 massages.
Fr. Thomas from U.S.A, Doctor Jomon Jinu from ankamali, Joseph lonth from
U.A.E, Shobith from coimbatore, Nyttle from Singapore, Welchi from Bombay ,J
aison, Stanly kulangara, Joseph from satara, , Dencil Vincent.………. Every
body comforted me and assured their prayers. Really I felt the power of your
prayers.
Now things have been changed. My big problem has melted like snow. I
am sure it was a miracle and it happened only because of your prayers. I
want to thank each and every one for your love and care.
May our dear master keep us united and lead us in his everlasting love.
Wishing you a new year full of love, joy peace.
   With much love
  Your brother in Jesus

Re: [JOYnet] what you think about Harri Potter

2002-01-05 Thread Areis Fernandes

ur mail really set me thinkin i wanted to really know what harry potters'
books r all about, since they sure are read by lot of kids, must say that.
well it surely sounds satanic but very nicely disguised.read on this is
what i found at a web-sitethis is a review by a staunch roman catholic who
used to practice occult, in the past but now is in the lord...

Before my audience is lost too, considering me a fear-mongering,
fundamentalist, unimaginative critic of the series, may I introduce myself as
a former New Age healer and advanced yoga practitioner. Many of the
delightfully described magical arts in the Harry Potter series were pretty
standard fare in training courses I mastered to some degree or another,
including telepathy, divination, energy-work, necromancy, geomancy and time
travel, to name but a few. I was quite close friends with wizards, warlocks
and witches alike - all of us (psychologists, physicists, other
professionals) being in the business of the new science of the mind, defending
our studies together as being of the white magic category, much like the
wizardry school of Harry Potter. So, for those readers who believe Harry
Potter's world to be a harmless fantasy or the science of magic to be the
stuff of educative fairy tales, let me dispel those myths (no pun or magic
intended) right up front. And also let me disabuse commentators of the notion
that there are two kinds of magic, however humorously depicted. There is one
kind: variously known as black magic, occultism, diabolism, or the dark arts.
And while I am a revert to the Roman Catholic faith, I write about New Age
topics out of first-hand experience and by way of admonition, not fear. I'd
rather not have others suffer, as I did, from exposure to the occult. To the
charge of fear-mongering, well, fear-mongering is not my cup of tea, although
I enjoy using the word. I love words. I love fantasy and science fiction and
C. S. Lewis and Bradbury and Clarke and oh so many other writers who filled my
mind with wonder as a child, and yes, provided much pleasure at breaking the
bonds of my mundane, grown-up infested universe. Truth be told, I graduated
from these authors in my early teens into more meaty topics such as ESP, ghost
hunting and parapsychology, experimenting with Ouiji boards, telepathy games,
and automatic writing. Truth also be told, I, like Harry, was also alienated
from my caregivers, parents in emotional trouble from years of marital
separation. These books fueled my need to have some control over my
out-of-control emotional world, they made me feel that there was a way to
escape, to be free, to fly. I was not so very different from other children
of my era who haunted libraries and escaped through T.V. and who later became
the perpetual adolescents of the '90s. Neither was I so different from our
children today, who now, more than ever, lack control in their lives and need
to feel in control of their inner turmoil amidst divorce, latchkey-ism, and
out-of-control classrooms.

this is the reaction at some web-sites...

RE: [JOYnet] How to pray always?

2002-01-05 Thread joserino

Hello friends in Jesus,

I started my day at 5.30am. I thanked God for another day. There are
millions passed away last night. There are people hospitalized with
various reasons last night..I prayed for those people.
When I am taking bath I thanked God for good bathroom, enough
water etc. I prayed for millions don't have this facility..
When I am having breakfast I thanked God..I prayed for poor
people..poverty...
When I am changing dress I thanked God for good dresses, shoe
etc...I prayed for the people, they don't have good dress..
Before going to Office I prayed few moments before Jesus. I thanked
God for His Shelter.. I prayed for the people they don't know Jesus.. I
prayed for the people they don't have job..
When I am traveling in my company bus I thanked God for his
marvelous blessings.. I prayed for my parents, brothers, sisters,
relatives, friends, prayer group etc...etc... in my rosary
Before starting the work I invite Holy Spirit to control over
me..I prayed for my colleagues, managers etc.. etc... I thanked God for
the good office atmosphere.. There are people struggling at workplaces
without salary, harassments different kind of tensions. I prayed for
them.
When I am reading newspapers, watching news bulletins I have plenty
of petitions for interceding.. Whoever coming to my mind everyday I am
sure they need my prayers...may be old friends.. old memories. New
incidents...
We have the responsibility to pray for the Church, World peace,
different kinds of problems...
In short each moments of our life we can make prayers.. try to
practice praising always.. If we are always praising the Jesus name evil
can not touch us... Holy Spirit will strengthen us by His Fire...
This is just a sudden reflection...We can read meditate Bible
passages, psalms we can sing devotional songs at any time .. not
loudly always... It will minimize our tensions worries.. It is very
nice to practice small prayers like 'Sukrutha Japam' We can go into deep
more and more
God Bless
Lovingly

Subject: [JOYnet] How to pray always?

Dear Friends,

In Eph 6:18 and in 1 Thes 5:16-18, the Lord asks to pray at all times.
How should we practice it? Can you share as to how are you practicing it
in your life? Also share if you know any other similar quotations.

Love, Sibi

Re: [JOYnet] [Joynet]:Doubt:John 6:1-14

2002-01-05 Thread Sony Joseph

Hi Jannet and JY brothers and sisters,
I haven't read any Bible commentary but the
following thoughts come to my mind. The feeding of the
poor points to the heavenly banquet for the the poor
in spirit (the sinners as we are) in which everyone
will be completely satisfied. Blessed are the poor in
spirit, the kingdom of God is theirs. The food in the
heavenly banquet is the Holy Trinity itself which we
consume now as the Living Bread that comes down from
heaven-Holy Eucharist. God is infinite -much beyond
what we can think of. St. Paul says Eye has not seen,
ear has not heard what God has prepared for those who
love Him. Even after completely satisfying everyone
He is still able to give more! I think that is what
the remaining baskets of food signify. I don't know
why it is 12 baskets. Does anyone know whether the
number 12 has any special significance in the Bible?

Please offer 1 Our Father, 1 Hail Mary now for an
exam I am having on wednesday. I have a lot to cover
and I really depend on your prayers.

Thanks a lot,
Sony

 Hi,
Can somebody help me with this portion. Here we read
that Jesus feeds the multitude with bread and fish
from the five barley loaves and two fish that he
 gets
 from the lad.
My doubt is this : Jesus knew how many people were
assembled there and how much bread was required to
feed them. Then why did he have twelve extra baskets
of bread after feeding them. There should be some
 significance to what he did.
