Before each of us laid our lives like the squares of a quilt in many piles. An Angel sat before each of us sewing our quilt squares together into a tapestry that is our life. But as my angel took each piece of cloth off the pile, I noticed how ragged and empty each of my squares was. They were filled with giant holes. Each square was labeled with a part of my life that had been difficult, the challenges and temptations I was faced with in everyday life. I saw hardships that I endured, which were the largest holes of all. I glanced around me. Nobody else had such squares. Other than a tiny hole here and there, the other tapestries were filled with rich color and the bright hues of worldly fortune. I gazed upon my own life and was disheartened. My angel was sewing the ragged pieces of cloth together, threadbare and empty, like binding air. Finally the time came when each life was to be displayed, held up to the light, the scrutiny of truth. The others rose, each in turn, holding up their tapestries. So filled their lives had been. My angel looked upon me, and nodded for me to rise. My gaze dropped to the ground in shame. I hadn't had all the earthly fortunes. I had love in my life, and laughter. But there had also been trials of illness, and death, and false accusations that took from me my world, as I knew it. I had to start over many times. I often struggled with the temptation to quit, only to somehow muster the strength to pick up and begin again. I spent many nights on my knees in prayer, asking for help and guidance in my life. I had often been held up to ridicule, which I endured painfully, each time offering it up to the Father in hopes that I would not melt within my skin beneath the judgmental gaze of those who unfairly judged me. And now, I had to face the truth. My life was what it was, and I had to accept it for what it was. I rose and slowly lifted the combined squares of my life to the light. An awe-filled gasp filled the air. I gazed around at the others who stared at me with wide eyes. Then, I looked upon the tapestry before me. Light flooded the many holes, creating an image, the face of Christ. Then our Lord stood before me, with warmth and love in His eyes. He said, Every time you gave over your life to Me, it became My life, My hardships, and My struggles. Each point of light in your life is when you stepped aside and let Me shine through, until there was more of Me than there was of you. May all our quilts be threadbare and worn, allowing Christ to shine through. Please share this with someone you love, care about or even someone who needs Jesus in their heart. Neither will I I was on the 110th floor in a smoke filled room with a man who called his wife to say Good-Bye. I held his fingers steady as he dialed. I gave him the peace to say, Honey, I am not going to make it, but it is OK...I am ready to go. I was with his wife when he called as she fed breakfast to their children. However, if you were there in that explosive moment in time, would you have reached for Me? September 11, 2001 was not the end of the journey for you. But someday your journey will end. In addition, its really shame to note down that I didnt move a single finger to make the situation calm. In our school a guy was distracted in his language class and wrote down some other class work, the language teacher caught him red-handed and his book was snatched away from him. More than that she did not want him to come to the staff room begging for the same Poor guy approached her many times by saying sorry to get his note book back, because he desperately need assignment marks by submitting these notes. Each time madam was so rebellious and stand firm in her word. Many teachers supported her. In a free period, he came again in staff room...Madam was busy with her works...As usual he begged for that notes and was at the edge of tears. With full of fury Madam screamed like this: Get out you hell from here he stood still bowed head. Then looking to us she told in our own language I hate this boy, I hate his face, I hate him from the bottom of my heart Get away from my sight Second part she told it in our mother tongue (Malayalm) so the Punjabi boy didn't grasp the full meaning of what she told. Sure he got the idea that teacher insulted him in front of others . Most of the teachers enjoyed the scene and tried their level best to add the fuel in situation by digging out his past mistakes. I too was a silent listener.. Still its hard to forget his crying face. That same moment my mind was repeating these verses: See that you dont despise any of these little ones. Their angels in heaven, I tell you always in presence of my Father in heaven (Matthew 18:10) However, being a junior teacher I had no courage to tell her those verses that time. Later softly, I pointed out that Bible verse to her . Im sure that boy wounded by that incident. Friends when you are about to despise a person, Please remember His angel is always watching the face of almighty God in heaven.
