[JOYnet] To remind ourselves of the Mail etiquette in JOYnet

2002-12-02 Thread List Admin
Hi Friends

Mathew has been repeatedly sending mails to remind us about some of that
guidelines we follow in JOYnet to make it lively, to make the mails useful
and at the same time to be in line with our mission.
But we still deviate from these guideline sometimes, maybe because we don't
know why these guidelines are set.

1) Send no attachments.

Mail attachments are really dangerous. It can flood the mailboxes and
sometimes (no, many a time !) these attachments carry virus. So let's avoid
getting hit by them! Only Text emails are cleaner, less bulky and can
reach faster.
Anyway attachments get deleted in the mail server before they are forwarded
to the members of the list.

2) Mail Forwarding

Do we need them? JOYnet is a forum/community where we discuss our own
experience with Christ. So let's give more focus to write OUR OWN
experience. Certainly many of the forward mails are good and inspiring, But
do we ever wish joynet to be a list where only mails from others are
forwarded? We talk about others (is that called gossip ??) when we don't
have words of our own. Even if we are inspired by a forward mail and if we
still wish to let our fellow-JOYnetters know about it, it would be a great
idea if we can write a few lines on why we liked it and what message we wish
to convey to others through our mail.

3) Prayer Requests

It's awesome and powerful if 1000 persons pray for a single reason.
Can we send the prayer requests to JOYnet?

We have a separate email address where we can forward our personal prayer
requests,[EMAIL PROTECTED]

Can we limit the personal prayer requests to be sent to this address alone?
There is a team dedicated for intercession at prayernet.
Getting prayed over is good, but praying for others is more powerful to get
His blessings. Joining prayernet is just a MAIL away. Just send a note to
[EMAIL PROTECTED]
if anyone wish to join prayernet and to intercede for others.

4) Matrimonial, Request for finance
Let me not talk about it when Mathew is around :-)

Thanks

[JOYnet] spiritual exercises-part 1

2002-12-02 Thread anitha dsouza
Dear friends,

Last night as I lay in bed pondering over a few things
of the past, I remembered having read a Benny Hinn
book “Good morning holy spirit”, where the author
mentioned waking up each day with a big Good morning
wish to the Holy Spirit. To wish the Holy Spirit a
good morning each day the first thing in the morning
was a spontaneous exercise he had developed over the
years after his first encounter with the holy spirit.

In the book of timothy, we see a mention of the
spiritual exercises

“Keep yourself in training for a godly life; physical
exercise has some value, but spiritual exercise is
valuable in every way, because it promises life both
for the present and for the future.”1 tim4:8

It is not as if the mighty Lord or His spirit need our
wishes to make their day better, but by doing so, we
are reminded of their continuous presence in our
midst. And I have always noted in my life too, the
days I woke up wishing a good morning to the Trinity,
my day was always protected from all the
unpleasentaries.
So, dear friends what other spiritual exercises can we
adopt, in our lives?

I remember a friend of mine and her family had this
exercise each time before they left their house to go
out(even if it was to a nearby shop), or before they
went to bed at night.

Each time before going out, they used to come before
the alter, take some precious blood of Jesus in their
hands(imaginary blood) and sprinkle it over themselves
from the crown of their heads to the very soles of
their feet with a short prayer asking for the
protection of Jesus over themselves.
And I can also quote atleast one incident when her
parents where going for a party in their car, and were
protected miraculously from a very mighty accident
which would have otherwise cost them their lives.
In other two incidents, the same family was protected
from their house being burgled, when they had gone to
sleep, sprinkling the precious blood of Jesus in their
house as is their practice each night after their
evening prayers . That very night, the house on
their right and the house on their back were burgled,
all the expensive things were gone, but for some
reason the thieves had not visited their house.(My
friend and her mother were alone sleeping in the house
that day)

[JOYnet] thoughts on JOYnet

2002-12-02 Thread Mathew Joseph
Hi all,

Just adding to what Giju has wrote in the guidelines.

We need to have a clear idea about the vision of JOYnet.

JOYnet is a virtual family of people all over the world who
help and support each other in growing in their Christian life.

JOYnet has got more to do with Community life...
A spirit of sharing and supporting each other.
A spirit of encouraging and guiding each other in the love of God.

Our first priority will be global evangelisation.
Building lives on Christ
So, we will send mails which help people to grow in Christ.

So, all our personal needs go to the last priority.
Things like personal needs and personal prayer requests...
(yes, we have a dedicated list for that [EMAIL PROTECTED])

Things like finding our life partner...
(Yes, this is an important need. But JOYnet is not the place for that)

Things like financial needs and charity
(This is also important... But again, not in JOYnet
May be we will find some solution to work out this soon)

In a nutshell, in JOYnet, we will take up things which
are of interest to the whole group.
Things which are important in building the Kingdom of God.

All our personal needs and things take the back seat and lower priority

What do you say about this?? Does it make any sense?
Ofcourse, please feel free to tell if you disagree...

thanks,
Mathew Joseph

[JOYnet] With a Kiss!

2002-12-02 Thread George Joseph Fernandes
With a Kiss!

While Jesus was still speaking, Judas, one of the twelve apostles, came
up. With him were many people carrying swords and clubs who had been sent
from the leading priests and the older Jewish leaders of the people. Judas
had planned to give them a signal, saying, The man I kiss is Jesus. Arrest
him. At once Judas went to Jesus and said, Greetings, Teacher! and kissed
him. Jesus answered, Friend, do what you came to do.
-- Matthew 26:47-50 (NCV)

Betrayed in the garden of prayer.
Betrayed by a kiss.
Betrayed by a friend.

Unfortunately, betrayal in God's family did not end with Judas. Betrayal by
a Christian friend and confidant didn't stop when the moisture from Judas'
kiss on Jesus' cheek dried. Unfortunately, betrayal in what is supposed to
be a place of safety and spiritual nurture didn't end when Judas hung
himself. Have you been betrayed by a friend in Christ? Have you been
undercut that is suppose to be a loyal confidant? Have you been wounded in
what is supposed to be a place of spiritual safety? If you have, you
know the wounds a friend can leave when they no longer are a friend! You
know the pain of Gethsemane.

But if this is your story, remember it was also Jesus' story. For you, for
us, the story of Matthew's Gospel finishes with a powerful two point
message. Watch Jesus as he is betrayed, denied, and forsaken by his most
beloved friends. He is a pioneer for us on how to handle the agony of
betrayal and abandonment. Second, speak honestly to Jesus about your wounds
and hurts. He not only knows and understands because he is Divine, but also
because he has been there and longs to comfort and help you in your time of
heartbreak.

[JOYnet] Jesus youth Conference concludes in Dubai

2002-12-02 Thread Jacob Jose
Arise Shine out All UAE Jesus Youth Conference concludes in
Dubai

On December 2nd, the national day of UAE, the Jesus youth held
it's national gathering. This years gathering Arise Shine out
was presided over by Manoj Sunny and Shaji, the so-called
firebrand Shaji (Iddukki/theeppori shaji).

The program began with an unusual environmental theatre portraying
Exodus, the most remarkable journey of Gods people from slavery to
freedom.

The gathering of over 900 people were divided into 12 tribes after
their leaders introduced themselves in a most hilarious fashion.
They spoke in strange tongues and greeted so uniquely.

Tribes were then scattered. God appears to Moses in the burning
bush. He in turn gathers all the tribes and proceeds out of the
hall leaving Egypt with shouts of praises to the almighty GOD who
stood by them.

Before they entered the Promised Land (back to the hall) they had
been through the Parting of the Red Sea, Manna from heaven, 10
commandments and the bull worship episodes in the church compound.
It was a rare theatre spectacle with over 900 actors.

The praise and worship that followed coincided with the arrival of
Gods people in the Promised Land. The PW was soul stirring.

The music ministry did a remarkable job lifting the spirit of the
crowd. The crowd swung to the tune of the song Yes Lord Yes Lord
Yes, Yes Lord. There was a fabulous array of instruments ranging
from flute to tabla to accompany the singers.

Shaji's talk, which came next, challenged the youth to rise up
from their slumber and shine out. He cited examples of the young
man whom Jesus raised to life, the Samaritan woman and Zacchaeus.
He showed how their personalities changed after their encounter
with Jesus.

The first audiovisual presentation, which followed, told the story
of St. Augustin. The session exhorted the people present to be the
saints of the millennium

Priests from Sharjah, Dubai, and Abu Dhabi concelebrated the Holy
mass. A sumptuous lunch followed.

The post lunch session started with another presentation named the
Cry of the word which showed clips of the oppressed and the down
trodden from around the globe. It opened our eyes to the reality
of the need to reach out.

Manoj Sunny then spoke on evangelization in response to the Holy
Father's call to evangelize Asia in the third millennium. This
session was called the Hope of the word He pointed out few Asian
countries like china, Combodia and told us how the spirit is
moving, bringing about the fulfillment of pope's prophetic words
about reaping the harvest in Asia in the coming years. He also
affirmed that Jesus youth is a missionary movement in service of
the church. The session ended with an altar call praying for those
inspired to take up new initiatives

The program concluded with a beautiful adoration with the Holy
Eucharist exposed. Many experienced a new awakening and a growing
vigor to part take in the church's mission to plant the cross in
the land were the savior was born

Keep UAE in your prayers

and sprang up quickly, since they had no depth soil.
But when the sun rose, they were scorched; and since they had no root,
they withered away.

Other seeds fell amoug thorns, and the thorns grew up and choked them.

Other seeds fell on good soil and brought forth grain, some a hundred fold,

Re: [JOYnet] thoughts on JOYnet

2002-12-02 Thread Suresh Kumar T. Jose
Hi friends,

Now having more than 1000 members and 4 years life Joy net
is very strong group which have roots in so many countries. If we
take Jesus youth International, Joynet is the link between each
countries and regions and this stands as the strong pillar for other
Jesus youth International activities.

As Matthew suggested we have to think, pray, discuss and clarify
the VISION of Joynet End of the day we have to achieve that vision.
We can think 3 dimensions of Joynet Vision :

World Youth Evangelization :

Jesus Youth can be the leading spirit of the 3 rd millennium, If all youth,
Asian, African, European and American under one spirit, Jesus youth spirit,
singing halleluah, praising Jesus changing face of this youth world…..
It is my dream about JY for the 3 rd millennium And this Joynet having
1000 strong members from 5 continents we can be the strongest net work
in the world youth evangelization. We always dreamed impossible things
and now it is happening in India, UAE, America, Singapore etc Now we
should look on World as a zone or a local area…. If we think world is too
big then we can't cover it… we can see world is just Asia, America, Africa
Europe . So why are we waiting ??? Stop thinking regional vise
or national vise… Think global….. I support Globalization…. Globalization
of Jesus Jesus youth…. Joy net can be the strong platform for this
world evangelization.

To strengthen Jesus Youth net work : Jesus Youth is now global youth group.
We are planning JY International gatherings, JY International full timers,
So many other projects so we can use Joynet as our strong supporting
group. We have to organize all this programmes, find resources including
fund, mobilization etc can be done through Joynet. We can do our faith
formation, follow up of international programmes though Joynet.

Personal growth : As Sheril Daniel commented Personal growth also part
of this group. we can't avoid any areas in our life. Job, finance, life
partner
all necessary in our life. If we can share about our dryness in spiritual
life in the Joynet then same like that we can share about other difficulties
also (Eg: Difficulties to find out a life partner too he he he :) But we have
to avoid the situation somebody trying to misuse this facility
we need a personal touch each other then nobody can misuse this facilities.

Are we giving enough time for Joynet ??? Anybody is monitoring all mails ???
Anybody in Joynet core team or service team can claim they read 100 %
email circulated in Joynet We have to think all things seriously.
Over to you Matthew others for discussion.

With Love, Suresh

put in Joynet.

Regards
Jincy/ Delhi/ India
