[JOYnet] A WORD AGAINST \'WAR – ANACT OF SIN\'

2003-03-23 Thread JAMES SIMON
A WORD AGAINST \'WAR AN ACT OF SIN\'.

War, Is it possible to bestow peace by war, force?

Like a Eunuch desiring to violate a girl,
Such is he who uses
FORCE IN PRETENDING TO BE JUST. Sira 20: 4.

Do anyone have the PERMISSION to kill/attack anyone or any nation
from the GOOD LORD?
Is it possible to Justify a WAR?

Dont BLAME THE LORD FOR YOUR SIN;
GOD does not cause what HE hates.
Dont claim that HE has misled you;
HE DOESNT NEED THE HELP OF SINNERS TO
ACCOMPLISH HIS PURPOSES.
THE LORD HATES EVIL IN ALL ITS FORMS,
AND THOSE WHO FEAR THE LORD FIND
NOTHING ATTRACTIVE IN EVIL.
When, in the beginning, the LORD created human beings,
HE left them free to do as they wished.
If you want to, you can keep the LORDS COMMANDS.
You can decide whether you will be loyal to HIM or not.

HE HAS NEVER COMMANDED ANYONE TO BE WICKED OR
GIVEN ANYONE PERMISSION TO SIN.Sira. 15: 11-15,20.

What is the consequence of, repercussion on the attacker, killer, the one who is
conducting the war?

JESUS said to him, All who take the sword will die by the sword. Mt. 26: 52.

THE WAGES OF SIN IS DEATH, DEATH IN ITS FULLNESS ETERNAL DEATH (unless he/she
repents and get absolution from the GOOD LORD).

In short, What is the root cause of war, like any Evil/Sin?

Where there is Jealousy and SELFISHNESS, there is also DISORDER AND EVERY KIND OF
EVIL. James 3: 16.

In closing, What is OUR MISSION?

Become GOOD, Remain GOOD and PRAY.

The PRAYER of a GOOD PERSON has a POWERFUL EFFECT. James 5: 16.

Thanking You, JESUS

Lovingly,

James Simon

Our Mission-Re: [JOYnet] A WORD AGAINST \'WAR ANACT OF SIN\'

2003-03-23 Thread Prejomy Jose
Dear All,

James wrote;
In closing, What is OUR MISSION?
Become GOOD, Remain GOOD and PRAY.

As a Christian, is it our mission? To become Good and Pray - any Policemen
(Policemen excuse) can do. It is our common belief that as christian we
shall be good, do our duties properly without harming others. But in that
stage we are the seeds of Wheat in the Silver plate. And if we are not
decomposing, all our good deeds and prayers are for nothing, absolutely
nothing.

If we have good food to eat and are interceding for the poor before God to
provide them food, Jesus will say, my dear, for that only I've provided you
with food and you feed them.

He may add, "Look into my arms and legs, you have nailed me. And now I have
only your arms to work, your legs to walk, your heart to show mercy, and can
you give it to me?"

Hence, our mission is to Know Jesus, Taste Jesus and Give Jesus who doesn't
know & taste him. I feel every thing will come under it.

With Lots of Love & Prayers in Jesus

[JOYnet] The man who held me in his arms

2003-03-23 Thread Mary Paul
Sometimes we just need a reminder of who our Lord is and how He cares for
each of us.Here is a nice story:

Little Jill (not her real name) was raised by parents who were atheists.
When Jill was 3 years old her father killed her mother in a drunken rage and
turned the gun upon himself. This was all done in the presence of Jill.

Jill was shifted through the foster care system and wound up with a church
going family. The first Sunday that Jill was in her nursery class the
teacher held up a picture of the Savior and asked the
three, four and five year olds if they knew who was in the picture. Little
Jill raised her hand and the Sunday school teacher called on her.

"That's Jesus" stated Little Jill. The Sunday School teacher knew that this
was Jill's first time in church and knew that Jill's dead parents had been
atheists. So she was surprised and questioned Jill:

"How do you know that my dear?" asked the kind teacher.

"Because he was the man that held me in His arms the night my Daddy killed
my Mommy," answered sweet little Jill.

Regards
Mary

>Berkeley, CA. - As of last evening, the United States of America has
unleashed its immense, indeed unprecedented, military might against the
nation of Iraq. We, the faculty, staff and students of the Franciscan
and Jesuit Schools of Theology add our voices to those who pray for
peace.
>
>Along with so many others throughout the world, we are deeply troubled
by the situation in Iraq that provoked this invasion. As persons
inspired by the life and teaching of Jesus who calls us to a new way of
being in the world, we hold to a strong moral presumption against war.
Rooted in our convictions of what the call to discipleship demands,
especially as expressed in the Sermon on the Mount, we must continue to
proclaim that love is possible. The message and example of Jesus is
about compassionate solidarity with all, especially the innocent
civilians who have already suffered the effects of deprivation brought
on by years of military strikes and economic sanctions. We fear that
this military intervention will only contribute further to the
widespread suffering of the Iraqi people and the prolonged instability
of that region.
>
>We believe that our basic duty as a people inspired by the gospel of
peace is to avoid the violence of war. Any exceptions to this duty
should be subject to strict review by the criteria of the moral
tradition of just war. Even if we accept that, in a world marred by sin,
force is sometimes justified when nations must defend themselves, we are
persuaded that the present circumstances do not warrant the force of war
and that peaceful diplomatic means have not yet been exhausted. In our
judgment unleashing the massive violence of this military invasion of
Iraq is an act of unjust aggression.
>
>We recognize that people of good will may apply the same ethical
principles that we use and come to a different prudential judgment. But
we hold, in solidarity with the U.S. Catholic Bishops and Pope John Paul
II, that the conditions for a just war have not been met.
>
>First we do not believe that this war meets the principle of just
cause, which Catholic teaching limits to a defense against an actual or
clearly imminent attack from another nation. The fact that Saddam
Hussein has been successfully contained for the past twelve years and is
not deemed a threat by even his most proximate neighbors suggests to us
that the threat to the United States is not sufficiently grave and
imminent to warrant preemptive or preventive aggression.
>
>Second, Catholic teaching mandates that war can only be declared by a
legitimate authority representing the will of the wronged public. The
United States has not been wronged by Iraq; and according to the United
Nations Charter, ratified by the U.S. giving it the full force of law in
our land, only the United Nations' Security Council - not a collection
of several member nations - possesses the legal authority to enforce a
U.N. resolution.
>
>Third, to be ethically justifiable, an act of war must have a clear
probability of a successful outcome. In the judgment of millions around
the world, which we share, even a quick military success will probably
entail an immeasurable stream of deleterious consequences. We remain
deeply concerned that America's aggression will provoke terrorist
attacks at home and precipitate greater instability and militarism
throughout the Middle East for many years to come.
>
>A fourth principle, proportionality, insists that the anticipated costs
incurred by war must not outweigh whatever good is being pursued. But,
without doubt, the costs of this war will be too high, especially when
measured by the losses to all the human family, not just to Americans.
We may never know the number of Iraqi soldiers killed during the first
Gulf War. We do know, however, that several thousand Iraqi civilians
were killed and, according to a recent UNICEF report, the number of
children who have died since the War's completion as a result of
malnutrition and disease has now reached one-half million. We mourn this
loss of life and are aghast to see history, in a sense, repeating
itself.
>
>Finally, we believe this current war to be an egregious violation of
the moral principle of last resort. Rigorous U.N. sponsored inspections,
multi-lateral weapons embargos and other non-proliferation measures,
international cooperation and diplomacy- these are what a gospel
inspired vision of life together would call for and what peace-loving
citizens must demand from their governments. Indeed, we consider the
Administration's new policy of expansive military preemption to be
patently immoral because it transforms war into t

[JOYnet] A P R A Y E R I N T I M E O F W A R

2003-03-23 Thread Sebastian Kakkasseri
Dear JY,

Thanks for your prayers that we are protected by the precious blood of
Jesus. None of the missiles made any casualities in Kuwait. Let us continue
our prayers also for the people of Iraq. Could you please print out the
following prayer and say everyday until the war is over.

Our Lady of Sorrows,
we pray for those who will die today
because of war, economic chaos, injustice, and exploitation,
especially the children.
Prepare them for the agony, despair,
and terror of the violence that is upon them.
Comfort them and hold them close to the
bosom of thy Wounded Heart as they drink deeply
of the bitter cup which is forced upon them.
Wipe their tears, calm their fears,
welcome them to peace and safety.
Eternal rest grant to them,
and may perpetual light shine upon them.
Holy Mary, Mother of God, help the helpless,
strengthen the fearful, comfort the sorrowful,
bring justice to the poor, peace to all nations,
and solidarity among all peoples.
Overturn the thrones of tyranny and scatter the unjust.
Cast down the evil one who make the cry of
the widow and orphan rise to heaven.
Open our eyes to see the beauty, joy,
redemption, and goodness which comes
through obedience to the Gospel of your Son our Lord.
Teach us to be a refuge of hope for all
who are oppressed by injustice and violence.
Give us strength to stand against the
demonic powers which prowl about the world
seeking the ruin of souls. Amen.
