Hi, 
It would be helpful is somebody can throw light on this. Atleast we can know how the 
Ash Wednesday and Ash Monday came into the Catholic chruch. 
Also while attending SM mass I have often heard my priest saying " The Latin Catholic 
church is celebrating so and so feast today". Why such differences within the catholic 
chruch itself? 
All through my life I was under the impression that the catholic church was divided 
into MC, SC and LC based on caste differences. But now I feel there are more 
differences. Please do help us.

i have a doubt.. y is tht we SM have Ash Monday and the Latins have Ash
Wednesday y'day one friend who goes to Latin church asked me y u SM
christians have Ash Monday instead of Ash Wednesday i said to her that
fasting starts with the starting of the week... and i told her sunday is the
starting of the week but since it is the Lord's day.. after midnight the
fasting starts tht was an escape answer for the time being which i
gave. but.. i want to know the exact answer

i asked my friend.. if we count the no. days for fasting from Ash Wednesday
it comes to 45 days.. to which she said that in olden days sunday was not
counted for fasting.. but was feasting day... so if we excluded the 5
sundays.. it comes to 40 days

and we SM christians have 50 days while the others say 40 days fast... y the
difference

i counted the days from Ash Monday to Good friday and it comes to 47days..
then y it is said ambadh noyambh (50 days fasting)...

Hi,

I know it is too late to be sending this message.

However I want to thank everyone in this group who prayed for me. My project work 
which was getting out of my control initially soon became as easy task - definetly 
Jesus was working for me all the time. The client was very happy with the project and 
they also have more confidence in me now. 

I am back in India after my assignment and have been assiged more responsible roles

Hi All in Joynet,
I had put a prayer request nearly two weeks back about
my hectic work and some problems with my co-workers. 

Thank You all who kept me in prayers and encouraged me
through mails. 

All issues regarding the work has been solved, I just
have to implement it. As for the problem with my
co-workers I have atleast been able to communicate to
my seniors what exactly has been happening.
I am the third person taking a complaint against the
same man in a period of two months. Our company is
planning to take some steps against this man. Please
pray that he doesnt fall into trouble. Let anything
that happens to him be Gods plan to put him in the
right track.

Hi Friends in Christ,

I need a very special prayers from all of you.

I have been given a very important assignment which
has to be completed by December this year before
Christmas. Before that I have some coding and testing
that has to completed in 5 days time and I am alone in
this module for this 1 week since all my project mates
are going for their Onam vacation. 
Moreover there are some probs also I am facing here
(something that i dont want to explain) but is
defintely affecting my work. 

This is very important for my carrier. Please do keep
m in prayers and ask God to give me the strength to

[JOYnet] Doubt : Mark 6:3

Hi All,
First of all I would like to thank everybody in Joynet
who have been helping me all my doubts. Every time I
write my doubts and questions here I am sure that I
will get a detailed, flawless reply to it. It is
definitely helping me to regain my lost faith. I hope
nobody here minds me for not sending a personal 'thank
you' mail.
Now I have another doubt. 
Could somebody throw light in this view. 

In Mark 6:3 we read "Isn't this the carpenter? Isn't
this Mary's son and the brother of James, Joseph,
Judas and Simon? Aren't his sisters here with us?" 

When I asked some people they told me that this verse
is referring to everybody around Jesus whom He called
his own brothers.

But I don't feel satisfied with that answer. Because
the people gathered in the synagogue could not have
referred to this. 

So who are these brothers and sisters?

Again such a reference is not given to any brothers or
sisters when Jesus carries the cross to Calvary and
dies.

Hi All,
Gen 1:2 - "Spirit of God was hovering over the face of
the waters."

This is a verse that has been in my mind for quiet
sometime. 

What does this verse actually mean. 

The people who favour water baptism say that the
baptism Catholics take in the church is not right
because we dont go under the water to be covered by
the Spirit who hovers over the water. And so we are
not cleansed of our sins in Baptism. 

I dont know how exactly to point out what I have in
mind. 
If there is anybody out there who can really
understand what is in my mind please do help me and
throw light in this view. There are some of my friends
who are confused by this and I dont think I can help
them very much.

Hi,
Can somebody help me with this portion. Here we read
that Jesus feeds the multitude with bread and fish
from the five barley loaves and two fish that he gets
from the lad. 
My doubt is this : Jesus knew how many people were
assembled there and how much bread was required to
feed them. Then why did he have twelve extra baskets
of bread after feeding them. There should be some
significance to what he did.

Hi All,
I just wanted to tell everybody how God worked in me
today morning. I think I am the best person who can
always say that i have kept on worrying about things
but finally God always had the best plan for me,
though it seemed not very good at first. But i never
learn from my life and my testimony. 
I was worried for the past few days of how fast I can
settle down with my fiance after marraige. And
yesterday things happened to move in such a way that
realized we would not be able to be together for more
than three years after marriage. I was not in a good
mood today morning also feeling too depressed and more
than that worried about what and how and when - all
confused. It was then i read this mail in Joynet from
Priya Joy - "Are you ever worry about ?"
After I read this mail I realized how silly my worry
was and how much more I had to worry about how far I
am from God. The verse "Be concerned above everything
else with the kingdom of God with what 
he requires of you, and he will provide you with all
these other things.(Matthew 6:33)" struck me very
much.
Though I have read this verse many times it is only
today that I realized the essence of it. 
Praise to you Jesus. Holy be your name. Forgive us for
these silly things that we are worried about. Let us
trust in you more.

coming week. Don't let them go out in nature to reflect on God's wonders.
Send them to amusement parks, sporting events concerts and movies instead.
Keep them busy ,busy, busy !  And when they meet for spiritual fellowship,
involve them in gossip and small talk so that they leave with troubled
consciences and unsettled emotions.

"Go ahead, let them be involved in soul winning; but crowd their lives with
so many good causes they have no time to seek power  from Jesus. Soon they
will be working in their own strength, sacrificing their health and family
for the good of the cause.

"It will work ! It will work !"  It was quite a convention. The evil angels
went eagerly to their assignments causing Christians every where to get more
busy and more rushed, going here and there.
The question is: " Has the devil been successful at his scheme in your life"

 Hi,
I would like to make a comment here.Simply being born
as a Catholic and being baptised will not help us in
being born-again.
I would like to share my personal experience. Being
born in a catholic family i was baptised. I do believe
that i became a whole self then. But then i had no
personal touch with god inspite of my parents efforts.
i must have been a good person coz my parents always
corrected me when i was wrong and i was ready to obey
them. It was only long after that my inner-self could
accept the death of Jesus on the cross for our sins
and also that he was my personal Saviour. And now i
have the urge to follow all sacrements of the Church
because of my self urge. The church has set rules for
us so that we don't go the wrong way. But if we can
follow all these rules not beacuse they are set by the
church but they have been given to us by Jesus , it is
then the real happiness comes.
And please beleive-You don't have to belong to the
Born-Again Sect to be a born-again. I had written my
views on this in an earlier mail.

I would like to have a small say on Born-Again. And
please forgive me if i am wrong.

Jesus said "You must be born again" John 3:3;
Yes, everyman must be born again. I believe that by
simply telling that u belong to a Born-again Sect does
not make u born-again. Jesus himself gives us the
answer as to how to be born-again.

"Except a man be born of water and of the spirit, he
cannot enter into the kingdom of God." John 3:5. 

You must be born of the water and the spirit.
You are first physically born into the world. Then u
must be born of the water when u r baptised. You shed
behind ur older self and become a new person when u r
baptised because u r cleansed of the sins with which u
were born with. Then u have to be born with the
spirit. This happens when we personally accept Jesus
Christ as our Lord and Saviour. Before Jesus'
Ascension he had breathed the Holy Spirit to all his
followers assembled in the room. All of them had
believed that Jesus was their saviour. And it was the
strength of this spirit that helped them to preach the
Good News to everyone. So when we accept Jesus as our
Lord and Saviour he will send us the power of the Holy
Spirit. This power can come in many ways. God will
choose to give which and to whom. Please read through
1Corinthians 12:1-11. And take note of 1Cor 12:11 "But
all these worketh that one and the self-same
Spirit,dividing into everyman severally as HE WILL"
And again the faith to remain in Jesus is also given
by the same spirit as is said in 1 Cor 12:9 "To
another faith by the same spirit"
I hope now u can understand how a grown up man can be
born again. There must be somebody who can help u much
better.
And if i am wrong anywhere please do correct me.

Hi Reji,
I had this doubt cleared this afternoon and hope that
i can help u also.
The first thing to remember is that everybody believes
that every living person can pray for another. We do
ask our friends and fellow members to pray for us.All
catholics and Non-catholic christians do this.
Now the Question is who is alive.
Jesus had said "He who believes in me shall never
die." So anybody who believes in Jesus and in his
death on the cross for our Salvation lives. 
Death doesn't mean a departure from the world but a
departure from God.So even if we leave this world ,if
we can be with Jesus we are all living. So we can ask
the saints to pray for us because they are not dead
but alive.
Remember in Genesis-God said "Whosoever shall eat from
the forbidden tree shall die" Did Adam and Eve die
then. Not the physical death that we may think. But
They did die a spritual death. 
When Jesus died for our sins we were all liberated. We
are all saved. We are all living. Continue in his
faith and we shall continue to live.

[JOYnet] Doubt

[jannet fernandez]

Hi,
I have a doubt. When we can directly ask god for what
we want, why do we ask saints to do this for us. Does
any verse in the bible support this. Then when we do
our rosary are we not spending majority of our time
with Mary than using that time to praise God and be in
his presence dirctly. Please somebody help me with
this as soon as possible. These thoughts are affecting
my time with God.
