Re: [JOYnet] [Joynet]:Doubt:John 6:1-14

2002-01-05 Thread Sony Joseph

Hi Jannet and JY brothers and sisters,
I haven't read any Bible commentary but the
following thoughts come to my mind. The feeding of the
poor points to the heavenly banquet for the the poor
in spirit (the sinners as we are) in which everyone
will be completely satisfied. "Blessed are the poor in
spirit, the kingdom of God is theirs". The food in the
heavenly banquet is the Holy Trinity itself which we
consume now as "the Living Bread that comes down from
heaven"-Holy Eucharist. God is infinite -much beyond
what we can think of. St. Paul says "Eye has not seen,
ear has not heard what God has prepared for those who
love Him". Even after completely satisfying everyone
He is still able to give more! I think that is what
the remaining baskets of food signify. I don't know
why it is 12 baskets. Does anyone know whether the
number 12 has any special significance in the Bible?

Please offer 1 Our Father, 1 Hail Mary now for an
exam I am having on wednesday. I have a lot to cover
and I really depend on your prayers.

Thanks a lot,
Sony

[JOYnet] [Joynet]:Doubt:John 6:1-14

2002-01-02 Thread jannet fernandez

Hi,
Can somebody help me with this portion. Here we read
that Jesus feeds the multitude with bread and fish
from the five barley loaves and two fish that he gets
from the lad.
My doubt is this : Jesus knew how many people were
assembled there and how much bread was required to
feed them. Then why did he have twelve extra baskets
of bread after feeding them. There should be some
significance to what he did.

Love in Jesus
