This is not related to jQuery - unfortunately, it is the way IE7 works (breaks) when applying Alpha filters to any 32 bit PNG. For example: <img src="my_transparent_png.png" style="filter: alpha(opacity=50);" /> Will have the same end result without the use of any Javascript library.
