[jQuery] Re: JQuery licensing questions

2008-12-10 Thread jason.tin...@gmail.com

Hey John, I have a question along the same lines as acesfull9. We are
building components that easily plugin into a content management
system we are using. We want to use JQuery to build the components.
However, we also want to charge a fee to download them. It is a
similar concept to acesfull9's, except we are not distributing a full
app...only components or modules. Thanks

Yes, that is perfectly fine on the MIT license.

to be able to license the system I created to local businesses for a fee.
Is this possible to do with jquery under either the MIT or GPL licenses?

A license of the system will be purchased and the customer will host it on
their own systems.  I will not be hosting the application if that makes a
  difference.

  Thanks in advance

2008-12-10 Thread Michael Geary

That's fine under the MIT license. Don't take my word for it, read the
license. It's really pretty easy to understand:

http://www.opensource.org/licenses/mit-license.php

Basically it just says, You can do anything you want with this code, but
you need to keep the copyright and license notice in it, and you can't sue
anyone for any problems that result from using it.
