Re: my jsp page is not getting refreshed

2000-10-27 Thread Raj S

I really don't know the exact reason behind this,but I have faced similar
problems.What I did was just copied and pasted that file with a new name and
it worked.Sometimes restarting the machine also helped.Make sure that ur
Java Web Serve has not expired and that u have'nt set the system date to a
back date.

Use Message Algorithm..
This may help you.

Regards,
Raj S.

byte[] buf= new byte[args[0].length()];
args[0].getBytes(0, args[0].length(), buf, 0);
MessageDigest algorithm=null;
try {
algorithm = MessageDigest.getInstance("SHA-1");
}catch (NoSuchAlgorithmException e) {
System.out.println(e);
}
algorithm.reset();
algorithm.update(buf);
byte[] digest1 = algorithm.digest();

Pop Up Window

Hi,
   Can someone suggest how to get a pop up window in JSP?I am deleting a
value,so I just want to pop up window,which can confirm from the user
something like Are you sure you want to delete this value?
If User presses Yes then I want to invoke the JSP which has the
functionality to delete this entry.

Re: Urgent!! RE: Supress LDAP Authentication

2000-09-21 Thread Raj S

Ok,Then you can try this.
Make a class and invoke a method of this class,example
VerifyLogin(String uname,String pwd);
In this method ,seek a connection to your ldap server using the username and
password just received by specifying environment properties.

If you are able to get it's directory context,then connection is
successful.In that case you can return the name of the JSP,where you want to
forward it,and if not authenticated,then you can return name of an Error
jsp.

Hope this help.

Display data in editable mode

2000-09-20 Thread Raj S

Hi,
How can display data in editable mode?I have a table,where at the end of
each row,there is a delete and modify option.When I select modify,it gets
forwarded to next JSP,with the relevant fields.
But how can I display this data in editable mode,so that the user can change
it and save it.

Thanks in advance,
Raj

I am too sure but I may be able to help you.
I just need to clarify a few things.If I have understood your
requirements,do u need to authenticate the user at the backend and then
display next page,according to authentication or else maybe an error page or
prompt the user to enter username and password .

Session parameters.

2000-09-20 Thread Raj S

Hi,
   I am facing a problem with retreiving Session parameters.

Below is the code in Search.jsp.In this JSP,when I use the method getValue,I
can retrieve the values of LoginName and Password.

But from this JSP,I am invoking Delete.jsp,where again I am trying to
retrive the same parameters by getValue(),but I get only null.Whereas the
Session ID is the same.
Can anyone suggest why I can't get the values in the second JSP?

HttpSession Hsession= request.getSession(true);
Object Ologin = (Object)LoginName;
Object Opassword = (Object)Password;
Hsession.putValue(LoginName,Ologin);
Hsession.putValue(Password,Opassword);
Object Ologin1 = Hsession.getValue(LoginName);
Object Opassword1  = Hsession.getValue(Password);
String slog=(String)Ologin1;
String spasswd= (String)Opassword1;

out.println("SESSION VALUE OF LOGIN  IS : "+slog);
out.println("SESSION VALUE OF PASSWORD IS  "+spasswd);

Thanks in advance,
Raj

<%HttpSession Hsession= request.getSession(true);

Hsession.putValue(slog,Ologin);
Hsession.putValue(spwd,Opassword);

Object Ologin1 = Hsession.getValue("slog");
Object Opassword1  = Hsession.getValue("spwd");

String slog=(String)Ologin1;

Re: Encrypt and Decrypt Password

2000-09-19 Thread Raj S

HI,
   Yes that's what I have used,and it works fine when transferred from JSP1
to JSP2,but when I transfer from JSP2 to JSP3 the value that I get I get is
just Directory and not Directory Manager.

What I have done,is implemented a method which searches for a blank and
inserts a character before forwarding,and in the JSP3 it removes that
character.

But,honestly I can't understand this behaviour of not getting the complete
name.

With buttons I can still manage,but I just can't make out how to send the
password through .

Thanks,
Raj

I am using JNDI, to access LDAP server to delete ,modify and add attributes
,I have to provide the username and password in the context.
This is the reason I have to forward the password and username from one JSP

Re: Encrypt and Decrypt Password

2000-09-18 Thread Raj S

Hi,
   Thanks for this.But actually I have to transfer it through an
 link.Because I have a table displaying vlues from LDAP, and next
to each record I have a text written as "Del".
By clicking on it,the user can delete that record.
But the value will be visible in the link which is what I want to
avoid.So I wish to encrypt the password and then decrypt it back.

One another problem that I am facing,is passign values which have space in
between.Through it is fine,but when I transfer it through the value after space is removed.

Like the name  Directory Manager.
In the new JSP I receive only Directory and not Directory Manager

Any particular reason for this??

Encrypt and Decrypt Password

2000-09-17 Thread Raj S

Hi,
   How can I pass the value of a password without it being visible to the
user on the browser?
I will be passing it through link,but the value of the password
will be visible.
Is it possible to encrypt while passing and decrypt back to original value
in the othe JSP?
If someone has written a code in this,it would be really helpful if you
could share it.

Thanks,
Raj

Forms and tables in JSP.

2000-09-16 Thread Raj S

Hi,
   I have a few questions about forms.
1) Can I redisplay a form?That is when I enter values in textfields and
click the button,the methods should be executed after the button click,and
results should be displayed on the same JSP.

2)I am making an address book.So I am displaying search results in a
table.Is there another way I could use to display results?
How can I select a value from the table?
Or how can I select a row of a table,and perform some method like delete or
modify?

Thanks,
Raj

Forwarding problem...

2000-09-16 Thread Raj S

Hi,
  I am facing a forwarding problem.
I have to forward to another page,based on a return value from a method
called CheckLogin()
But when I try to do so, it does not recognize the variable returned.
How can I ensure that ; is executed within
the if loop,so that it gets the required value?

Any Suggestions.

Part of code::

String name = request.getParameter("loginname");
String Pwd = request.getParameter("password");
out.println("str is "+name);
out.println("pwd is "+Pwd);
if(name!=null&Pwd!=null)
{
String retVal= AuthenticateLogin.CheckLogin(name,Pwd);
out.println("retval is "+retVal);
}
;

Thanks,

Raj

Re: Specific question to Netscape directory server: Adding new users programmaticall

2000-09-12 Thread Raj S

Hi,
   The purple sphere appears when users added do not belong to these object
classes ie. person,inetorgperson and organizationalperson.
That is whenever u add users in your own object classes ,they appear as
purple sphere.
And when you use these standard object classes they appear as a purple
person.

Re: iPlanet: error when launching JSP: Failed to get GenericServlet.

2000-09-12 Thread Raj S

You have already included the two main jar files needed.Check out if you
need to add these in the classpath of iPlanet.
Also check if you really should put your JSP's in docs directory.

However if nothing works out,copy your servlet.jar in a separate
directory ,unjar it and point the classpath to GenericServlet.jar

Help needed..design issues..........

2000-09-11 Thread Raj S

Hi,
   I am making an address book application.I have some design issues which I
have not been able to resolve.
In this application a user would be able to view his personal address
book,add addresses and modify or delete them.
I am using JSP's and at the backened LDAP server.
I have a list of questions regarding all this.

Do I need to make EJB's in this application to create,retrive or modify
addresses?Can I directly do it through JSP itself.
If I can then how do I ensure user authentication?
If I need to use EJB's then would Session be a better option then
Entity,since I do not wish to store data in EJB server,rahter all this
should be done in LDAP server.
This is actually out of topis,but incase any of you have worked on something
like this,then pls help me.

Thanks and Regards,
Raj.
