Today I red the juju-gui 1.3.0 release , its supporting multiple user https://jujugui.wordpress.com/2015/01/14/juju-gui-1-3-0-release/ From: Malshan Peiris mals...@hsenidmobile.com Date: Monday 19 January 2015 11:31 To: juju@lists.ubuntu.com Subject: Multi user account management in juju Hi all, Is there a way in juju to do following (We are going to use AWS as deploy target and ubuntu 14.04 as client). 1) Have multiple user accounts for juju-gui, where a certain user will only see his/her work area. If possible, a reserved machine for a single user. Currently I only know to confiure a single admin password. 2) Same as above, but deployment using juju command line. So individual users should have unique keys to AWS account where they can only affect a specific AWS instance, not the whole account (so they can't add / remove AWS instances). Re: About bootstrap server , size and dedicate or share it for applications or not
Hello Mark :) Actually I think that instead of install bootstrap server and client separately , in cloud, deploy an Ubuntu Desktop and access it with VNC :) Maybe we can provide image base backup solution for customer to keep single juju bootstrap server, I guess juju bootstrap server could be down and if no need deploy additional thing or update something, all deployed services should be run , isn¹t it ? Or bootstrap always should be up ? Thanks for your answers Take a care VM On 15/01/15 15:37, Mark Shuttleworth m...@ubuntu.com wrote: On 15/01/15 15:25, Vahric Muhtaryan wrote: I m so new to juju and try to learn it. We are cloud provider and we would like to push our customers use it . Welcome! My question is a bootstrap server is need but this means additional resource is needed , means customer need to pay more What is not clear for me , what is the min or recommended bootstrap server config ? The next version of Juju should support using the same Juju server (bootstrap) for many environments. So, on a single Juju server you can have many environments. So you only need one Juju server, or you might want one Juju server per customer. The other thing to consider is high availability. Juju supports HA today, which means you can tell it to use 3 servers and if one fails everything keeps running, with a spare just in case. So, a typical high-end configuration will be 3xHA Juju systems per customer, which will serve all their environments. Also if customer want to use bootstrap server as a service node , for example install apache on it , is it allowed ? And recommended or not ? Yes, we do this quite a lot for dense OpenStack deployments. The Juju server itself is not very busy for a single environment of typical scale. One more , if I have ubuntu desktop and juju-core installed, can I also use ubuntu desktop as a bootstrap server ? Yes, but don't walk out the door with it on your laptop :) Mark -- Juju mailing list Juju@lists.ubuntu.com Modify settings or unsubscribe at: https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/juju
Re: About bootstrap server , size and dedicate or share it for applications or not
Thanks Dimiter Right now I m using it with manual Lxc , I do not have an experience about but looks like need to check Also will care about disk space Regards VM On 15/01/15 17:20, Dimiter Naydenov dimiter.nayde...@canonical.com wrote: -BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE- Hash: SHA1 1.- I have been able to use a 613MB RAM server for a development environment, but a 1GB RAM server is recommended. You should also ensure the machine has enough disk space for the MongoDB database, which IIRC by default is configured to pre-allocate 48MB (for 32-bit architectures), 183MB (for 64-bit OS X), or 512MB (for Windows) as minimum oplog size, and up to 1GB (on Linux) as maximum oplog size. Additionally, if you store a lot of cached images (for LXC containers) or other binaries (juju tarballs, fat charms, etc.) the MongoDB database will grow. 2.- Yes, it is allowed but not recommended. You can deploy additional server to that machine specifying --to 0 when deploying. However, this is not recommended because the service will eat up RAM. Another option is to deploy services isolated in LXC containers, with - --to lxc:# where # is a juju machine ID (0 for the bootstrap node). 3.- You can, but only if you are using the local provider. If you are going to use a cloud environment, then the bootstrap node needs to be in that same environment. Alternatively, you could bootstrap a manual environment on the Ubuntu desktop machine, but then you'll have to add manually each additional machine to the environment, with add-machine ssh:user@hostname|IP address - e.g. $ juju add-machine myuser@192.168.1.123 - -- Dimiter Naydenov dimiter.nayde...@canonical.com juju-core team -BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE- Version: GnuPG v1 iQEcBAEBAgAGBQJUt9rSAAoJENzxV2TbLzHw5sMH/RPUJolTvImGI8zoY4Aleugq ESBMh4B6S3befBdo920Hw9k0QAxLdyAJiPRccmRYiecd5/djv14LlpUGRyxuxhoM GsVFgVAR/cFBsjAjxPX1EMKK5jvm0jSAp+zJbaWoJt9toolZ10Mi0sNx7wEvPy7M dkJI0jD2J2U16ch7R3YVngXBckQEGafxLo3aJHOGYZT2ENfs4yjo+fIHxh2xZJ/h uWlRKEb3vd23HPYLP43EFvZELCujg3uFyxCch0HVw/XFMc2G4DdZN4bANZhcnHud fsdsldnpHaf2O1UkYnzfJudFwML6BHVQxVmJQUPdyxTyRC0rdFMve5rJWOKfCsc= =k40X -END PGP SIGNATURE- -- Juju mailing list Juju@lists.ubuntu.com Modify settings or unsubscribe at: https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/juju -- Juju mailing list Juju@lists.ubuntu.com Modify settings or unsubscribe at: https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/juju
no matching node is available
Hello All , Im testing juju with MAAS and looks like somehow juju or MAAS do not recognise that machine pool is over. For example if I have just only one machine available for reservation and install the mysql or wordpress Juju get one machine from MAAS and install related software packages. Problem is when I would like to install second thing , in my example is database, its try to catch one more machine but problem is there is no available server , but its catching but because of serve is not available, its mark it 409 CONFLICT no matching node is available . My idea is before provision something MAAS can check and confirm the environment. My question is juju or MAAS somehow need to know servers are really available or not ? If not can ask to admin for continue or not or try to advise share or install on same machine which already other service is runnung (like deploy to 1 mysql) Regards VM -- Juju mailing list Juju@lists.ubuntu.com Modify settings or unsubscribe at: https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/juju
