Ok, makes sense. I didn't realize that GeoTools was already available
for CRS transformations.

let's put these files on the sf.net files sections, where a fully populated

2011-10-19 Thread Giuseppe Aruta
I agree with your idea, I was also thinking about it.
We should integrate also a doc (from wiki) which explains how to setup cs.conf
file. And/or a folder with all cs.conf file already made (organized by national
(?) usage).
If we adopt this solution, I added to this mail the cs.conf file already
configured for Italy (derived from from OpenJUMP Jufre) that we can use for
OpenJUMP  "The Chubby"

i see. skyjump's plugin uses igor's java glue to access Ogr2ogr and not the

 Hi,

Plugins included into the OpenJUMP+ should be generally interesting and if
the KML extension is such then why not. I would say that the + plugins
should be tested to be about as reliable as the core OJ. Seldomly used and
experimental plugins can be installed separately. We might be better with
the plugins. Now some of them are hard to find and not so friendly to
install. Quantum GIS has perhaps the most user friendly plugin manager.

Igor is worth mentioning and it could be mentioned also that it is
integrated with SkyJUMP so that SkyJUMP can open all vector formats
supported by ogr. Or most formats at least. SkyJUMP is doing an interim
convertion into shapefiles with igor first and then opens the shapefile
automatically if user wants so. Not all format can be converted into
shapefiles without loosing or altering some data but usually SkyJUMP with
 igor is doing good work.

ain't hard.. it just will be forgotten over time.. human nature.
i think have a php script somewhere to magically proxy the svn version so that
it is displayed in the browser. that should take care of it.

if set up, i'll add a link to it to the License wiki page with some info that
the up to date info is found there.

this was considered, but as geotools seemed to be better maintained when we

no problem. what use is the best software if nobody knows what's in it or how
to use it.

take it slow. as the load/save bug is a showstopper i would currently not
promote use on OSX. on the other hand, this will be solved in the near future.

this is obvious...

There is still something else wrong. I see the command

 /bin/sh -c cd /home/builder/openjump && svn --non-interactive
 info

running by mvn, but there is rnull in the resulting targets.
And I am afraid mvn would complain not having 'svn' in the path.

any other thoughts?

Best
