If I have a geometry table in PostGIS with a constraint on geometry dimension
(3d), I cannot update it as geometry returned is 2d only.

Fixed in r3068
From now on, the PostGIS writer used the dimension constraint written in
geometry_columns to insert/update new features.

I think the simplest way to manage geometry dimensionality is to add an
option in the connexion menu.
The user will have to say if he wants to upload 2d or 3d geometries.
Will try to add that for OJ 1.6 release, but It make take longer because
the whole PostGISConnection class need a serious refactoring
