[j-nsp] SSD in M7i will not be recognized
Hi Colleagues, today i have replaced a broken HDD in a Juniper M7i router with a SSD (Transcend 8GB) Every time the Router is cold started (powersupplys switched from off to on) the SSD is not recognized until you do a reset (pressing the reset button on the RE) or do an soft-reboot. any ideas what might cause this? Thanks in advance. Best regards, Joerg ___ juniper-nsp mailing list juniper-nsp@puck.nether.net https://puck.nether.net/mailman/listinfo/juniper-nsp
[j-nsp] Question about routing-engine redundancy on M20
Hi there, we have a M20 with dual RE-2.0, both identical (RAM etc.) The normal redundancy is, that one RE is master, the other is backup. In case of a failure on the master RE, it will switch over to the backup RE. It will also generate a YELLOW alarm. Let's say that the old master is rebooting then and is up after a short time. The old master is then backup but the alarm still remains, telling that the system is running on backup RE. Would it make sense to configure both RE's as master (since JunOS will handle it otherwise who's master and who's backup) to prevent this behaviour? Because we have two identical RE's, i don't care which one is master and which is backup. It's more important that the system is running. ;) I dont want to do a switchover (which might cause some problems with IGP etc.) just to get the alarm cleared. Any ideas or hints? [j-nsp] Broken FPC
Dear colleagues, i got the following messages Apr 4 05:08:34 M20_TEST ssb BCHIP 2: Cannot determine hardware error state Apr 4 05:08:34 M20_TEST ssb PFE: Slot 2: Could not check or clear B-chip error status Apr 4 05:08:34 M20_TEST ssb CM(0): Slot 2: Recoverable error detected; B: Error scan failed; code A Apr 4 05:08:35 M20_TEST ssb Slot 2: B-chip error flags present during initialization; code 0x0300 This FPC is currently empty (no PICs are inserted) Is this a serious problem? Is the FPC broken? Are there any tests i could run to check it? Thanks in advance. [j-nsp] Some questions about redundancy config in M20
Dear colleagues, i just configured both RE's as master, so that they can decide which one is master and backup. I'm not sure if this can cause any problems, so that's why i'm asking here. If a failure occures and the backup RE takes over, it will become master. So WHY would i switch back (when the original master comes back) to it when everything is running fine? Both RE's a 333-768 so there is no difference in performance etc. Is there ANY reason to configure one RE as primary master and the other as backup? Also with the SSB: I don't care if SSB0 or SSB1 is doing the work unless one of them is doing it ;) So why the hell i would configure one as preffered one? Thanks :) Regards, Joerg ___ juniper-nsp mailing list juniper-nsp@puck.nether.net https://puck.nether.net/mailman/listinfo/juniper-nsp
[j-nsp] High FPC Heap Utilization
Hi, we just upgraded from 7.4R3.4 To 7.4R4.3 and after the router came up again there was still a FPC Heap Utilization of 82%. I think this is much too high but i dont know what's causing this high usage. Is it possible to get a list of whats in Heap somwhere? We have several routers with nearly the same configuration and all of them have max 65% of Heap Utilization. [j-nsp] How to trace fpc/cfeb CPU usage?
Hi there, i still have a strange behaviour on our M7i. The CFEB load goes up to 20%, then goes down to 5% then up again and so on. I really have no idea what is causing this. We have several other routers (M5/M10/M20) that all behave normal. The behaviour of the m7i is also seen in our smokeping that monitors all our routers. you can see that the m7i has higher loads and responds slower more often than the others to icmp querys. So i just want to know what is causing the higher cpu on the cfeb but dont know how. What things are done in cpu on the cfeb? Maybe a list would give me a hint. Any ideas? Thanks in advance.
