Re: [j-nsp] Converting QFX3600 from QF Interconnect to standalone mode

2023-02-07 Thread Tobias Heister via juniper-nsp

Hi,

Its been age since we needed to convert one of them.
AFAIR all 3600 Nodes can be converted. The bigger Interconnect Node had
no option for that.

They state a couple of warnings and pre requisites in the documentation:
https://www.juniper.net/documentation/us/en/software/junos/qfx3000-g-deployment/topics/task/device-mode-converting.html

e.g.
"Always convert the device mode to standalone before you remove the
component from the QFabric system. If you remove the component from the
QFabric system before converting the device mode to standalone, the
switch might not operate properly. For example, the output of the show
chassis hardware command might display no FPCs or interfaces for the
switch."

Have you tried a complete usb reinstall already? I kind of remember we
had to completely start from scratch for at least one of the boxes.

regards
Tobias

Hi Daniel,

Have you checked IF the device model in question is capable of running in
"standalone" mode?
As far as I remember there were models which did not support it (especially the
ones used for IC in a jnp qfabric).

Hi,

just trying to convert a couple of QFX3600 QFabric interconnet nodes to
standalone mode via "request chassis device-mode standalone". They
state "after next boot: standalone", but come up again in QF-IC mode,
still stating "after next boot: standalone".

JUNOS 13.1X50-D15.1

The conversion worked sorta fine with the QFX3500s, but all QFX3600 do
fail...

Anybody got a clue how to beat them into submission?

Best regards,
Daniel
